The Main Topics of Sitcoms I remember when I was a kid, I used to finish my homework early to go watch the 7:00 sitcoms on tv. These sitcoms always made me laugh and it was just something to look forward to everyday after school. As a kid, sitcoms were the talk of our school because we never had streaming devices back then to go back and watch a missed episode. We had to watch them live or when they rebroadcast it. All kids sitcoms, should have certain characteristics in order to be considered a good kids sitcom. Again kids don’t have such a big brain, so they really don’t know what to watch, but by watching theses sitcoms they can at least learn some life lessons. In all good kids sitcoms, one thing that is …show more content…
In one of the older shows Zoey 101, the main character Zoey lives with friends at this school. Throughout the show, she goes through relationships, and has a lot of friends. Frequently she has problems with her friends because she thinks that her boyfriend cheated on her with them. This show is good for kids because it shows the importances between love and friendships. This show is also good for kids because it shows the importance of who to trust and who not to. In another Nickelodeon show called Every Witch Way, the main character Emma is a witch and goes to this school especially made for witches. Emma falls in love with this kid named Daniel. Emma's other jealous friends try to get rid of Daniel so that they can hang out with Emma. Emma also falls in love with this exchange student Jax.This show is good for kids because it shows the importance of having friends and a boyfriend at the same time. This show is also good for kids because it shows the importance of who to trust because Emma is put in a situation where she can’t trust Daniel or Jax. Another show that that is about love and friendships is Disney’s new show called Andi Mack. This show is about Andi whose grandmother acts as her mom and her mom acts as her sister her whole life. Finally, when she turned 13, the truth is revealed. Her whole life has turned upside down until she met this boy at school. Andi …show more content…
In Nickelodeon's, icarly, a show that we already talked about, is about a teen girl who starts a web show with her friends. Carly lives with her adult brother while her dad is in the military. This show is good for kids because it shows how Spencer, Carly’s big brother takes the responsibility to take care of his little sister which is something all siblings should learn about. Another show that resembles siblings is The Thundermans. The Thundermans is a show about a family of superheros. There are 5 siblings all together. Phoebe and Max are twins. They both have the same powers, except Max is evil. Throughout the show, Phoebe helps Max to overcome his phase of being evil. At the end or the 3rd season, Phoebe makes Max good making him realize that his family is more important. This show is good for kids because it show the importance of never giving up on their siblings. This show is also good for kids because it helps them learn that they always have to work together as a family to help keep each other closer. Finally, another Nickelodeon Show with siblings is Drake and Josh. Drake and Josh is about 2 step brothers who are complete opposites. The show conveys a message about how they both put aside their differences and work together to get through high school. This show is good for kids because it shows how they should always work together with their sibling to solve
It seems that every sibling doesn’t always have a great relationship with their older or younger siblings. In the movie “Real Women Have Curves”, we have two sisters, Anna and Estella, who seem not to get along in the beginning because of their differences, but at the end they become the best of friends because they have similar dreams and learn to support each other. The advantage of Anna and Estella’s relationship is that they benefit from each other. The whole story is that you don’t always realize how much you have in common with your siblings until you realize that you have similar dreams and can be there for each other.
mothers. Siblings, especially twins, share more than just parents. There are certain things that people have to just learn to accept in life, and the similarities between immediate family can be hard to acknowledge. Every person is a unique individual, but parallelism between family is bound to happen, whether good or bad.
As I was growing up one of my favorite television shows was Good Luck Charlie. Good Luck Charlie features a large family consisting of Amy and Bob Duncan who live with their four children Teddy, TJ, Gabe, and Charlie. Throughout the show Teddy documents life advice for her baby sister Charlie through a video camera. Good Luck Charlie relates to me because I come from a large, busy family, I am the eldest child of three in which I hold a lot of responsibility, and I document most of my life through pictures and journals in hopes that my siblings use my experiences to make their experiences easier just as Teddy.
The Real World is not a good learning tool unless you are wanting to know how to stereotype people. This show will fill your head false preconceptions of a group of individuals. There are already enough discriminatory problems in the world today, why make it worse? If you want to know how to be lazy all day and party all night, watch The Real World. If you want to fill your head with false hopes and dreams of living in luxury with out working a real job, watch The Real World. Do you want your children thinking it is ok to party or hook up with random people? The Real World needs to start putting real people on their shows and stop creating characters based on how society views a group of people.
Their family may struggle to get through some problems and some of their gender roles do not meet the traditional way, but they always make it work the best they can (p.115). They are not judgmental, have values, and everyone love each other (p.34). I love that the characters do not always get along and everything is not perfect. When I am a little older, I want to adopt a few children and this show expresses to me a different perspective and objection of life growing up in the foster system with parents that are different (p.35). I have not seen anything on this show that is not relatable to a common family or someone I do not
To begin with, PBS Kids is a Public television programming and the two shows I decided to watch were Arthur and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Arthur is a show that aims to promote social-emotional where children acquire positive social skills, problem-solving strategies, and understanding and managing emotions. Arthur is a show that showcases real-life situations children go through during their growth and development period. In the other hand, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is a show showcases imagination and creativity that allows children to develop social skills. The show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood also promote social-emotional and I believe the goal is to have young children have an understanding of social skills, emotions, creativity, and

The evolution of technology has had a great impact on our lives, both positive and negative. While it is great to be able to be able to travel faster and research anything with the smartphones that now contain almost every aspect of our daily lives, there are also many advances within the realm of technology. Nicholas Carr presents information on the dependency aircraft pilots have on automated technology used to control airplanes in the article “The Great Forgetting”. Likewise, in “Is Facebook Making Us Lonely?” written by Stephen Marche, the result of isolation and pseudo relationships created by social media is shown throughout the article. We live in such a fast paced society with so much information at our fingertips that we don’t make
When looking at the “Sesame Street TV review” found on Commonsensemedia.com, Sesame Street got 5 stars when it comes to quality. The review also says that it is appropriate for all ages (“Sesame Street TV Review”). If that wasn’t ...
The short story, "The Rich Brother," by Tobias Wolff represents the same concept that everyday people all over the world encounter. This portrays how having siblings can be an enormous part of a persons life. The rivalry between siblings is often very competitive, but at the same time similar to magnets. When they are not connected it may seem they are independent and whole, but when examined closely it is obvious they are really relying on each other to function properly. Although Pete and Donald's life are separate and completely different, they are in fact very dependent on each other.
Relationships between siblings can be very confusing and filled with emotional obstacles. Sharing the same blood type and genetic material does not ensure a lasting and loving relationship. However, with the right amount of sensitivity, and a whole lot of humor, these relationships can grow to be the most important in one’s life.
Overall, the Big Brother Big Sister program is designed to assist at-risk children from ages 6-18 develop long lasting positive relationships, while mentoring, counseling and having fun at the same time, believing “that every child has potential.” Each kid is different, making the match unique. Mentors must also recognize that the kids are not the only one’s who learn, they themselves can always learn something from the kids.
Sibling Rivalry can be defined as a type of competition or animosity among siblings, whether blood related or not, which is categorized as the common type of aggression amongst siblings in America today. With sibling rivalry or sibling disagreement, it can make a huge difference in the relationship between brothers and sisters and how they treat one another. These differences may include jealousy, competition, and sibling fights. Through differences in gender and age of brothers and sisters, sibling relationships begin to suffer due to built up aggression, tension and sibling rivalry. Generally, sibling rivalry can be quite simple in relationships.
Not to mention, Adult Swim cartoons are the worst for a child. Those cartoons are strictly cartoons for adults, because they contain more mature content. With this in mind children will find a way to watch them anyway. Shows like Family Guy has extreme violence, profanity, and sexual references. In reality children will start fighting more aggressively, using profound words and phrases and make sexual references towards one another. The consequences are kids can pick up bad habits from watching cartoons that contain violent
