Should parents have to be responsible for their kid’s actions? Rachel was the first girl to die in the shooting. The reason why she was important is because she was nice and kind and started a chain reaction. Dylan Keble was a shooter at the school, and he was bullied from middle school till he committed suicide. And Eric Harris was a part of the shooting and he was bullied all high school till he committed suicide. The first reason people think Eric and Dylan’s parents should go to jail is because they saw sighs. A sigh they seen is they seen explosions and seen them testing their explosions. A second sign they seen was their plans for the attack and seen the step there were going to do at the massacre. The last sign they seen was they had a bomb and Dylan’s dad took it. The second way they could of raised them better by checking up on their kid. And the last reason people think they could of aside them better by doing things with their kids like take them to do activities. The third reason people think they should go to jail because they lived with their kids. The first evidence for the reason is they could of heard their kids talking about it. Another reason for my statement is that they should of asked questions about their kids. The last reason to support my statement is that they should have been aware about their kids and what their where doing like watch there YouTube video. Some people think that they shouldn’t go to jail because they went apart of their action. Also there parents had they had no clue what there kid was up to. But some people think they do because their parents seen sins of their action and they saw their plans. Another way is that there parents didn’t do anything with their child so they would feel left
Although she is exaggerating, it does make sense. At no time should one ever be able to be compared to something like that. On top of it being morally wrong, it is embarrassing for the kids, no one wants to be the friend that has to check up with their mommy every 20 minutes or gets chewed out if they are not in the place that they say they are. Let kids explore their childhood and venture out of their own comfort zone, not just the
On December 14th 2012, just 11 days before Christmas, an awful tragedy happened in Newtown, Connecticut. Twenty-six people were shot at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. This awful event left a lot of unanswered questions and rumors about that day. The reason for that is because the shooter killed himself after shooting twenty young children and six adults. This tragedy open the eyes of everyone; made you want to hug your loves one just a little tighter, appreciate what you still have and never take a day for granted. Even our president Barack Obama felt the pain of all those who lost their loved ones in this event. He insured everyone that he will do everything in his power to make sure a tragedy like this will not happen again. However, did you know that there have been over 44 school shootings since the tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary shooting? I know as a future teacher and mother I want to make sure my children are safe in this world and even at school. I want to be able to make a difference in this issue and have some knowledge to have I can do that. The society should understand what really happen during the Sandy Hook event, the reasons behind why school shootings/violence are rapidly increasing each year, and have some knowledge about what we, as a society, can do to help in order for us to start seeing a decrease of these events.
When children commit a horrible act such as a school shooting their parents often look for someone or something to blame rather than looking at what role they, as parents, may have had in the tragedy. The often targeted entertainers, video game developers, teachers, drug companies, and writers are rarely, if ever, responsible for such tragic outcomes and, unfortunately, often become victims as a result of lawsuits filed in an attempt to place blame on them. The parents of dangerous children must be scrutinized and sued alongside every other entity being blamed for the heinous crimes that children commit.
One of the most eye opening school shootings was on April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado. Thirteen students were killed and twenty wounded in the middle of the day while attending school at Columbine High School. Two armed students opened fire just outside the building, then moved inside and gunned down more students and faculty members. This rampage lasting for just under 45 minutes. The students then turned the guns on themselves and ended their lives. The police did not show up in a reasonable time, which lead families to file lawsuits against the police department and the school. There was only one resource officer in the high school, during this time. He was located in the parking lot to watch kids drive in and out. One of the parents of the victims said, "There was no one in that school that had a gun other than the two killers, and ...
Eric and Dylan’s plan was not original. They had inspiration from the Waco and the Oklahoma City shootings. They wanted to be bigger and better than both of those, not caring how many people they killed. Their plan was called “Judgment Day” that would have the school excited with explosions (Cullen 33). Eric had made homemade bombs using, “standard propane tanks, the fat, white ones, eighteen inches tall, a foot in diameter, packing some twenty pounds of highly explosive gas” (Cullen 33). These bombs were going to kill many people, and Eric was excited. Next, they came up with a bomb tha...
There have been many cases of school shootings in the past decade and we need to put a stop to it. Innocent lives are being taken away, students aren’t feeling safe or the desire to learn and school isn’t like it once was. Last year there was a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary were many innocent children and teachers were killed. A teacher who worked at Sandy hook, Victoria Soto was shot and killed for hiding her students in a closet and told the gun they were in the gym just so the children can be safe and risked her life for them. In an article ‘She was a hero” by Erin Smith he explains that Soto was a hero and had saved her children and if she was armed she would ha...
On April 16th, 2007 Cho had created one of the most deadly school shootings in America. ( "Virginia Tech Shootings Fast Facts." CNN.) It was unfathomable to think that in the close future, America would encounter many more detrimental school shootings. This is including the shooting of elementary students in Newtown, CT where Adam Lanza had shot and killed 27 children and faculty. Lanza had been known to have significant health issues that had kept him from living a normal life. (Sanchez, Ray, Chelsea J. Carter in Atlanta, Yon Pomrenze in New York, and The CNN New York Bureau Staff. ) Both of these shooters had killed themselves shortly after their attacks. School violence has become a nation-wide issue.
In recent years a great deal of attention has been centered on youth violence. Numerous studies have been conducted on children of all races who are subjected to gun violence. However, violent behaviors start from within the environment where children have been exposed too. Household, poor communities and school as well have put children at risk. Yet the problems of violence relatively are increasing according to Children’s Defense fund that gets their information from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, and other government statistics. It should be examined further since multiple acts of violent behaviors with guns continued to plague our society. In what ways can we stop gun violence from killing our children? Psychologists are interested in this question, and one answer is stop protecting firearms.
My subtopic was gun violence in schools “school shootings.” There have been many schools shooting and most of them had many innocent people dying because of one or two people who had committed these horrible crimes. There are many things that should be done to help innocent people from getting hurt and prevent this from happening again. One thing that should happen is to put guns away or just getting rid of them. People get guns many different ways as you may already know. Sometimes we would just want guns to vanish and everyone one to have peace in the world. Gun violence in schools occurs around the world not only in the United States. The news inform us about the many other countries that are attacked and children or students that have been killed because of terroirs groups. People aren’t safe now days in places that we should believe schools are safe. Many parents are nervous sending their children to school because of the different stories they hear about on the news and from others.
When looking at the crisis that comes with school shootings most people turn to the media, the media often times has incorrect or one sided views of these school shooters by exclusively excluding them due to mental illness .School shooters shouldn’t be excused exclusively in terms of their mental health because school shooters are also perpetrators of bullying. In the case of many school shootings over the past years, most of the talk and commenting from the media always portrays them as the victim and even in some cases even try to make the assumption that other students should’ve been wary of this specific student mainly based off the fact that they seem them as someone who has

Most humans tend to live by example and studies prove that our behavior is learned, but how do we explain the bad behavior of those that have good parents that are excellent role models? Some people would say that the parents are too flexible and the kids take advantage of them, on the other hand when parents neglect the kids and are bad role models for their kids we easily find the answer to the problem. As a society we contradict ourselves; sometimes we tell parents to not be too flexible with our kids but at the same time we do not want parents to discipline their children too harshly. The question of why juveniles commit crimes does not have an exact answer. Some juveniles commit crimes because of peer pressure, anger over life, and others might just do it for fun.
As a parent, I have spent a great deal of time observing the behavior, motivation, and thought processes of my children. As they mature these processes have changed, and it has been fascinating to watch. I have learned a great deal on the limits of self control in the adolescent mind during this time, and I believe that families should be held responsible for crimes committed by their teenagers.
be hurting but what they are going to gain from the crime. whether it be happiness or self-respect, they don’t think of the consequence or how the person on the other side of the crime feels like a snare. The reason why this is, is because the parents today are not. cutting it. They are not teaching their children the difference.
parents might blame the child but that should never be the case because the parents
