PRIME MINISTER BIOGRAPHY- KEVIN RUDD NAME: GRACE WALSH DUE DATE: 25/5/18 EARLY LIFE Kevin Rudd was born in 1957, he was the youngest of 4 boys and grew up on a farm in Queensland. When Kevin was only 11 years old his father died from a septicemia infection he got in hospital after he spent 6 weeks in there after a car accident. His mother Margaret was evicted from the farm and the family, while searching for a home, they all slept in a car before finding a house to live in. He attended Eumundi primary School for kids. He was a kind loyal gentleman in school who had a big heart. Kevin went to Nambour State high school where he met his wife Therese Rein. He played for that team for many years, until he became apart of the Public Service in Queensland. EARLY CAREER At the age of 10 when Kevin’s mother gave him a book on ancient civilisations he fell in love with the culture and loved everything about china. After high school Kevin Rudd hitch-hiked down the east coast and eventually reached Canberra where he enrolled at the Australian National University and studied Chinese language and history. Kevin learnt to speak Mandarin and he went to Beijing as a junior diplomat during his time with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade during the mid-1980s. Once Kevin graduated and decided on a political career he was posted in embassies in Stockholm and Beijing from 1981 to 1988. He later left the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade post to become the chief of staff for Queensland opposition leader Wayne Goss. Kevin Rudd then got the position after Wayne Goss became the premier of Queensland in 1989. Kevin rudd then served as director general of the state cabinet office from 1992 to 1995.
