Imagine attending a concert in which if you were to close your eyes, you would assume that the music you are hearing is being created by a cast of band members, each playing their respective instruments. Contrary to your assumptions, however, this band only consists of one member. Keller Williams, dubbed by critics as a one-man-band, is one of a kind both in his musical talent and his solo act. Very few solo musicians have mastered such a multi-dimensional sound and captivating live show as Keller, making him standout amongst today’s musicians. Keller’s ability to perform improvisational live shows, form a large and dedicated fan base, and share the beliefs and attitudes of the hippie generation has given him the musical identity of the jam band genre in addition to his personal identity of being a solo act. Keller grew up in of Fredericksburg, Virginia and first began performing at the early age of 16. Without any formal teaching, he taught himself how to the play the guitar, mimicking the styles of his role models John Fahey, Leo Kottke, and the late Michael Hedges. Williams started out playing in bars and restaurants in his hometown. He played in various bands to help him get a feel for his own skills. After doing so, he decided that a band would not suite the type of music path he was set out for and quickly decided to take a more solo-oriented route. The type of music Keller creates fuses elements of rock, funk, jazz, folk, bluegrass, and techno. His lyrics are “usually lighthearted, inventive and conjuring images of a twisted reality” (“Keller Williams Bio”). It is these characteristics, combined with the looping techniques that he uses to create a full-band sound with only himself on stage, which is what further distinguishes Williams from all other musicians. Placed in the genre of jam bands, Keller is able to create a solo jamming experience with the use of his arsenal of various instruments. Keller was “introduced to looping techniques by ‘Flecktones’ bassist Victor Wooten,” which he now uses “to build a full-band sound with only one man on stage” (“Keller Williams Brings”). A typical song will begin by Williams playing a guitar riff which he will then “loop” so that it repeats continuously. Next, he might pick up another guitar, of which he has collection numbering eight or so, and record another riff which he will loop on top of the original riff.
Ringing in the New Year, we’ve chosen an individual who has created his own music and created interesting remixes of other songs over the course of (now) 16 years. We enjoy the twists he plays on his music and admire his efforts to take his music to live performance stage. Local to Brick Township, NJ, Brian Stewart (DJversion666) started out, born and raised, in Evansville Indiana, playing in a multitude of bands, playing bass and/or singing various genres of music. Upon moving to Nashville, he has done studio work, laying down bass tracks for commercials and advertisements. Continuing down the path of music Stewart attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He combines various genres and ties them all together with an industrial sound.
Born on May 26, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Hank Williams, Jr. used his natural talent for singing to follow in his father’s footsteps. By the age of 8, Hank made his stage debut and made his first appearance at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry at age 11. Then, puberty changed him. Once his voice changed, he signed with MGM Records and subsequently recorded his father’s hit “Long Gone Lonesome Blues” in 1964 (about.com). His very first album, Songs My Father Left Me, was an instant hit.
In Mexico, this holiday occurs on the day of October 31 and ending on November 2. They have believed that on October 31 the gates of heaven and let the souls of the children roam on Earth on November 1. Then on November 2, they once again open the gates for the adults to roam on Earth. The celebration of Dia De Los Muertos may take years of planning or maybe shorter. This day, they believed that the soul comes back and visit their loved ones. They also believe that even if they don’t see their beloved that had passed away, they can surely feel their presence. To the family, it is very important to them because this day, the family reunites and honors their loved ones that had passed away and ancestors.
The influence of secular rock music on contemporary Christian music has awakened a generation of listeners who enjoy being in the “gray” area. There’s a generation out there that does not want the label of “Jesus freak.”
Tennessee Williams was born Thomas Lanier Williams in 1911. As a successful playwright, his career was greatly influenced by events in his life. He was noted for bringing the reader "a slice of his own life and the feel of southern culture", as his primary sources of inspiration were "the writers he grew up with, his family, and the South." The connection between his life and his work can be seen in several of his plays.
An extensive amount of research has been conducted throughout the years on how children develop morally. Moral development has been identified as a person’s sense of right and wrong and their ways of responding to ethical dilemmas (Tichy, Johnson, Johnson, & Roseth, 2010). There are many varying focuses on moral development. Some examples of this variance can be found in studies such as Tichy, Johnson, Johnson, and Roseth’s (2010) study on constructive controversy and moral development, Stifter, Cipriano, Conway, and Kelleher’s (2009) study on temperament and moral development, Passini’s (2010) study of culture and moral development, and Levenson’s (2009) study of gender and moral development. Though these researchers all play an important role in the study of moral development, the theorist most often associated with the subject is Lawrence Kohlberg (Robbins, Chaterjee, & Canda, 2012, p. 277-280).
Jay Gatsby is a clear example of the failure of the American Dream. Gatsby is living the American Dream. At first, he seems to be an honest, wealthy man, and is a great example of how hard work can bring one a large quantity of wealth and power. Gatsby exhibits that it is possible to achieve wealth and power through determination. Gatsby however, earned his wealth and reputation through illegeal activities including the bootlegging business. As because of the fact that Gatsby had to earn his wealth through bootlegging
What we absolutely master from Gatsby himself, his backdrop is modest, he used to work really hard to generate his living, unlike most of his material accomplishment is established by maintaining the illusion of being more than he is, Gatsby went to Oxford after the second world war on an English American exchange
Although the senior concert band has improved greatly since the Fall Concert, there are still many musical aspects that prevent me from giving my primary ensemble a mark in 90th percentile (or above). Three specific examples demonstrate appropriate rationale for the assignment of 85%. Such examples include; good rhythmic complementation, good musicality and proper usage of dynamic contrast. and poor dynamic blending. For example in section B of Sleigh Ride, each section of the band made sure there part rhythmically complemented other sections. The percussion section acted as a “ pulse”, the bass line supported them, and shared the melody and harmony. Since these highlighted sections had good rhythm the music’s “spirit” would have transferred

...not recall a situation in the past. I understand that it is impossible to recognize which experience has the most impact on a child’s life but with various theories we are able to comprehend how children grow into adulthood. This assignment has supported feelings that cognitive and moral development theories are used to assist in the development of a child. Although life cannot be controlled we should all use the information provided in these theories as a blueprint to assist in providing our youths with a nurturing beginning from childhood into adulthood.
Gender is the social and cultural differences between men and women; men are associated with masculinity and women with femininity (Diana Kendall sociology in our times p 303). Sex is the biological and anatomical difference between male and female (D. Kendall p 298). However, there can be feminine men and masculine women. In the case of a transgender person, they can be born a man and have the anatomy of a man, but identify as a woman and may even have a sex change operation. For these reasons, neither sex nor gender is completely determined by birth. In 2015, it is becoming more acceptable to be transgender, homosexual or to be a masculine woman or a feminine man. Even if women are becoming more influential in the world, men are still considered
I do find this frustrating because some things are truly not easily measured and others are. But I think there is a general precedence of right and wrong that most people do try to follow on a daily basis.
