In the painting “Jamestown Lifescape,”Keith Rocco uses specific details to expose the theme that work is essential to survival. Additionally, the painting shows that these colonists are literally building their society. For example, in the background, there are two buildings under construction and there is a man delivering bricks to the workers. This shows that these colonists are willing to work hard to build their community. This also shows that they are willing to go far away to get bricks. In conclusion the
After reviewing Jacob Lawrence’s direct and dramatic paintings, it was clear that his painting helped him express himself. The painting was and still is a product of the economic and cultural self-determination that African-American dealt in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, during the migration and still evident in society today. The visual qualities in Jacob Lawrence artwork that is appealing are the vibrant colors and his clever way of self-expressing the time he was so familiar. In final analysis, his artwork expressed how he felt about his environment and what his perspective were during that time. And, how restrained his painting were, for instance, Street Scene – Restaurant, even though African- Americans had access to restaurants in the neighboring area but, he still place patriot outside the restaurant waiti...
The painting tells us how unjust Bingham felt the election was, it shows us that the other candidate used cheap tricks like buying voters and trying to influence voters before they voted instead of having a fair election. Bingham masterfully used this painting to express his feelings toward the unruly election he also used this to teach us many problems that needed to be resolved if we were to have reasonable

This essay was written to explain the differences between Wood’s painting and N.C. Wyeth’s 1922 illustration. The painting/illustration was inspired from a poem called Paul Revere’s Ride written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The image shows a written scene from the poem that describes Paul Revere’s ride through town as he alarmed the town’s folk. It’s an event that happened during the American Revolution. The comparison between the two images will include discussions about its viewpoints, shadows, scale, and other details that describe the picture.
“The painter's face curdled with scorn. "You think I'm proud of this daub?" he said. "You think this is my idea of what life really looks like?"”
This painting of the industrial revolution is very thought provoking, and causes a person to think about of what was happening during the industrial revolution. He shows the horrors of the factories and the serenity of the nature. He makes someone want to go back in time where things were peaceful, and there was just nature. Everything was in it’s own natural state and peaceful. This painting gave viewers a small glimpse into the past of the United States and the industrial revolution. Even though this picture showed a small glimpse of the past, a picture (or painting) is truly worth a thousand
I believe that the Norman Rockwell painting induces his audience to become visible to themselves as white in a politically progressive way by displaying nostalgic concepts that his audience can identify with as they relate to the white boy more than the black man.
I can’t unveil any more of the plot without destroying the readingpleasure, but there is one thing you should carry back in your mind as you read the book; the painting is the main element which most of the story circles round.
Another form of expression and bringing awareness was through the way of art. The style of art and representation solely raised from the Chicano movement. Murals played a big part in the activism and progression people wanted to see. Most, if not all murals represented native Mexicans and their struggles of being oppressed. All murals told a story whether it was Mexico’s poverty or the farming industry. Many popular symbols and images were used again in the Chica...
The painting called, “George Washington Crossing the Delaware” can be interpreted in many different ways. The main message this painting is showing is how the brave patriots crossed the Delaware. There are many other things that this painting also shows us. For example, in the back of the boat we see the patriots paddling and then in the front we see General Washington standing high and proud. We see him looking further down the sea. His strong posture shows us that General Washington is the leader and he is the one in charge. Also we see the patriots working hard. They seem to be in harsh conditions but they are still fighting on. This painting illustrates and shows how determined and fearless the patriots were.
Vincent van Gogh is considered the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt, although he remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his life.
One of the aspects that has drawn my attention about this painting was the fight between the two men in the center. It was the only area in the painting that was brightest, since it seems like the two men are fighting in front of a sun, which suggests that they are the focal point in this painting. I also notice that the colors on the right side of the painting are much brighter than the left side of the painting, where the colors look much darker or toned down. However, I can still see a little bit of light peeping through the right side, which is actually coming from the fight between the two men. I also notice that the people in the painting are much larger than the two men in the center, and they’re strategically placed along the borders of the painting. Furthermore, each person in this painting has a very different body language and position. It actually looks as if they’re flying towards the outside of the painting because their faces are turned away from the fight, their bodies are drawn horizontally, and their arms and legs are almost at an upright position.
When viewing this painting, it could be understood that the onlooker might first focus on the realistic right, lower corner of the canvas. The fruit and the corner of the table are clearly defined. In contrast to the non-descript somewhat blurry left corner of the canvas where the shapes and fruit are not easily recognizable. The added heaviness to the right corn...
Most common people were hard working farm labors providing for the families. War was abundant and medicine was scarce. The art of this era reflects the hard lives people endured. For the common folks this lifestyle reflected their hardships throughout life. The emotionless faces, over masculine bodies reflected people’s struggles they went through just to survive.
"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don’t know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that moment.
