Kay Hymowitz, wrote an online article for Time, which looked at the decline in the divorce rate, entitled “Divorce rate falling – But Marriage still on the Rocks” Ms. Hymowitz’s , article summarized that the divorce rate is falling, due to the increase of cohabitation, and single parenting, the article in no way is an indication married couples are staying together. The new millennium ushered in a phenomenon of reality t.v. Families are now airing their dirty laundry for fame and for cash, which has led to shows like; Judge Judy, Judge Matthis, the People’s Court, Paternity Court and countless others, there are court shows on the Spanish channels. Danielle Riley 21, and Rayburn Hayes 31, have no children, Danielle is seeking separation on the grounds of “strange behavior” she says that Rayburn, was standing on the edge of the bathtub, urinating into the toilet, another time, she says he built a pillow fort, was sitting in the middle naked, with a bull horn, and the most recent incident was; Rayburn walking down the street, naked, with a bag of chips and a six-pack of beer, he walked into the cemetery, sat in the of the cemetery with his bull horn. Rayburn says, he is a member but has committed any infidelities. Rayburn says Danielle, complains about his strange acts, but he says she is not without her own “strange behavior” he says Danielle, who was very intoxicated, climbed over the counter at a neighborhood bar, and preceded to fix her own drinks, while pushing the bartender away. She also borrowed his car, and crashed it while under the influence of alcohol, later that evening, took a brick, and broke out his car windows. Regina is suing Stacy for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences, Regina says “Stacy belittles her, because she wasn’t working” he says she let herself go, among other insults, Regina says she worked as a stripper, to provide for the family, when Stacy was unemployed. Stacy says Regina is materialistic, and throws fits, when she cannot purchase expensive things. Stacy says Regina has a “stank attitude” and she acts like a “hood rat”. Regina says it is comments like these like Stacy makes about her constantly, she says he is verbally abusive. Stacy says Regina admitted to having an affair, Regina says this was before the marriage, Stacy also admitted to a premarital affair, but neither has had an affair since being married. Regina has come to court asking for $2100 transitional alimony, the judge asked Stacy, how income he brought home after taxes he replied $400.00, weekly and the judge asked Regina the same question, she replied $300.00 weekly, the judge ordered Stacy to pay Regina $300 monthly for three months, and instructed the partied to forgive, let go of the anger, and be happy, now that the matter was settled, then she adjourned the case.
