On August 29, 2015 Kanye West won the Video Vanguard Award during the 2015 MTV VMA. During his acceptance speech for this award he made a huge announcement. He stated that he would be running for president in 2020. While also making this speech Kanye West also admitted to smoking a joint before coming on stage. I would say that this is not a good way to start the star’s road to presidency. This article quoted Kanye West stating,”I don't know what I finna lose after this. It don't matter, though; It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth”. Maybe he will bring new things to the table that America and the world has never seen. People act like it is such a crazy idea to imagine Kanye West as president, but people forget that Actor Arnold Swartzenager was the governor of California and Actor Ronald Reagan was president.
The year 2020 is the first presidential election that I will be able to vote in. I wouldn’t say that Kanye has my vote. I think he has good intentions but I couldn’t see him sitting around a table discussing foreign affairs with the leaders of Iran or the leaders of Saudi Arabia. Another flaw with his plan is his level of education. Obama went to Harvard and Columbia and where did Kanye West go? Kanye West attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago until he dropped out

after his first semester. He later received a honorary doctorate from the same school. I don’t think this country should be in the hands of a college dropout. Kanye West is also married to Kim Kardashian West. I can’t even imagine having a Kardashian as a first lady. I don’t have anything against the Kardashians, in fact I think they are very funny and are given too hard of a time, but having a first lady with a sex tape crosses a line. Who would Kanye pick to run with him as vice president? Maybe Justin Beiber or Rhiannna. I don’t want to be mean to Kanye West but I feel his presidency will only make America look like a joke. Kanye West has done a lot of stupid things such as interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMA in 2009 and throwing a fit in 2007 during the MTV VMA when Britney Spears won and Kanye blamed his loss on the color of his skin. I don’t know about you but that is not the kind of president that i would want representing my country and I. Maybe Kanye West will surprise the world and actually make a great president. I would like to see him improve this country and change it for the better, not for his benefit. Are celebrities fit to be politicians?
Celebrities such as Bono, Clint Eastwood, Shirley Temple, and George Takei have all been part of the government and have served this country in different ways. None of them ever tried to achieve such a hard goal like being president. I think nowadays people are looking for a wholesome, strong, driven, and charismatic person to lead this country. From what I’ve seen of Kanye West, he doesn't have what it takes to lead this country. Kanye West can buy the most expensive campaign manager and buy his way to the top but that still doesn't change the fact that he might be an awful
president. Who knows if Kanye West really does want to be president in 2020 or if this is just another publicity stunt to make him more money. All I know is that I don’t want a president who smokes a joint before making his announcement that he will be running for president. If Kanye West did win, he would have some really big shoes to fill such as Obama, Clinton, and many other great presidents. All I can say is that of this moment Kanye West does not have my vote in the 2020 presidential elections.
“Climb on one’s back and stand on their shoulders to reach the top” this is what the Coronel Colin Powell hints to recent graduating students from the Howard University in 1994. On November 2, 2004, President George W. Bush was nominated and elected for his second and final term of presidency. Throughout the course of his term, a vast amount of controversy revolved around the actions of President Bush. Some of the main matters that were significant during his first presidency were the issues of abortion, pro-choice versus pro-life, and AIDS, which led to a fluctuation in his popularity with the masses. However, even with these issues, the unforgettable tragedy of September 11, 2001, and the start of the Iraq War, Bush was reelected to President of the United States despite everything he had going against him.
George W. Bush’s “9/11 Address to the Nation” is a speech in which he talks about the catastrophic event on September eleventh, 2001. Two airplanes crash into the Twin Towers in New York City on this day, shocking the entire world. He addresses this speech to the people of America on the night of the disastrous event, to let the people of the United States know what is going on. This speech explains how the United States is a strong country, the motives behind the event, as well as to bring the United States together and stronger.
The commencement speech given by David Foster Wallace in the autumn of 2005, is a very deep speech that examines the whole idea of a Liberal Arts education at an extremely deep and intellectual level. In the 22 minute long speech Wallace talks about how higher education not only teaches you to think but “how to exercise some control over how and what you think.” (Wallace). Wallace later in his speech stresses the importance of this level of thinking by saying “if you cannot exercise this kind of choice in adult life, you will be totally hosed” (Wallace) What he means by saying this is that if you cannot think at a higher level and make sense of real world problems your life will become meaningless and you will become dead inside your head.
In President Barack Obama’s eulogy for Reverend Clementa Pinckney and others who died in the Charleston Church Shooting, delivered on June 26, 2015 at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, he commemorates Reverend Pinckney and at the same time advocates for his own political agenda. President Obama shifts between black and presidential registers, weaves the ideas of grace, sight, and blindness throughout the speech, and cultivates his ethos to better connect with his audience, the American people, not only African Americans or Christians. President Obama addresses the American public during this racially charged time in order to remember the lives lost during the shooting, to promote his political views, and to unify the all Americans.
Of the many truly inspirational speeches given by African Americans, Booker T. Washington’s The Atlanta Exposition Address is one of the few that intends to achieve compromise. In his speech, Washington is trying to persuade an audience composed significantly of white men to support African Americans by granting them jobs and presenting them with opportunities. His goal is to convince his white audience that African Americans will be supplied with jobs lower than those of white men, allowing white men always to be on top. Booker T. Washington’s The Atlanta Exposition Address adopts a tone of acquiescence and compromise to persuade a predominantly white audience to accept his terms.
In June of 2011, Conan O’Brien gave the commencement address to the 2011 graduating class of Dartmouth College. O’Brien uses humor and anecdotes to deliver a powerful speech which resonated with most viewers. O’Brien also used many literary devices for the graduates to better understand his primary points. Conan O’Brien delivery of his commencement address was effective because of his use of pathos, ethos, and antidotes, which contributed to his fantastic speech.
Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. Trump is an arrogant person that doesn’t deserve to be president and doesn’t deserve to be able to run a country; he is acting like a child he is not mature to run for
President James “Jimmy” Carter’s inauguration speech is full of contrasts. He speaks of the United States being a “purely idealistic nation,” but he also recognizes the need for strength. He states we “cannot dwell upon remembered glory,” while at the same time saying he has “no new dream to set forth today, but rather urge a fresh faith in the old dream.” President Carter came to the presidency during a period of healing for the nation. He would lead a nation in transition, but struggle to give strong leadership.
Trump has had a remarkable impact on social media and in result that has helped build the reputation he has today as well as the popular stance he had all before becoming president. His influence on media began when he became the executive producer and host of The Apprentice. Within the 14 seasons as host, Trump had accumulated north of 200 million dollars, aside from how much he was making from his other businesses (wiki 1). Throughout his acting career he has also appeared in 12 films and 14 television shows as a cameo and earned himself a Star on the Walk of Fame ( the life history
American wanted him to be president so here you go Donald Trump will be in office coming January 2017. Do I think he should be president? No but did I want Hilary to be president? Hell no! Donald Trump is wrong in so many ways when he says things but I will rather have that then someone I feel owes lots of people in this world many of favors. Honestly the only thing I like about Trump is that he is somewhat a businessman. I know everyone says it but it’s honestly true, the guy is good at what he does. I fell though as in since America is in tremendous debt Trump can use his businessman ability to dig us out of this hole that we are in or he can just possibly make it worst. I don’t think everyone wants to give him a chance to actually prove
Dr. King had been one of the greatest leading person during the 21st century. Fifty years later till this day, the message he has portrayed, is still being reviewed today. The ideas that King had brought along in his speeches would still be relevant to civil problems that are occurring in the United States currently. One of the most incredible moments in his life at the time was when he conveyed his tendency from human rights onto the stage of the world; educating the listeners, while obtaining the Nobel Peace Prize Award.
After 229 years, it is time for a major change in the White House. The change needs to be different, confident, and positive. The change that is needed to be great again is Donald Trump. Trump is already changing America for the better and is likely to win the Republican general election with his skyrocketing support from Americans. Trump shakes the nation with his energizing force, which gets people’s attention. He should be the president of the United States for many reasons. He is different from a regular politician, his confidence is contagious, he is tough on immigration, he wants to return manufacturing jobs to America, and lastly, he has more a more aggressive trade stance than his competitors.
When president Barack Obama first walked on the biggest stage in America eight years ago a lot of Americans did not trust his words of wisdom to carry, we the people to a better United States. On January 10, 2017 President Barack Obama walked back on that same big stage now known and loved by so many to give his last and final speech, his Farewell speech. All of the non believers were certainly awoken to the actions that were taken by president Barack Obama to achieve most of what he truly dedicated his life and career to. Obama worked hard to gain the love, respect and dedication by so many loyal americans today. It definitely was not an easy task to achieve, many trials and many errors. In this analysis I will state weather or not Obama’s
