In today’s world, society looks to those who have greater resources or have been appointed as leaders for us.These people we call leaders, role models, or even idles for some of them. These people either did what they thought was necessary for the public to be bettered for it. William Shakespeare knew this better than most did and he wanted to show it through a play so that everyone could see it. This play has since then been studied, dissected for its lessons, and has been taught to students in the upper ranges of schools, such as college or high school. Julius Caesar displayed to everyone that a leader may have to break a law, or bend a rule to try and protect the greater good of the public. In this play, Brutus kills Caesar for fear of him abusing his power, but people have done similar things; such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Mohandas Gandhi. …show more content…

The leader of this group is a man by the name of Brutus, and it wasn’t his idea. He loved Caesar and he didn’t want to kill him at first, but when one of the conspirators convince him to after a month, he finally gives in. However, he says that it is for the good of Rome. He says that he doesn’t want Caesar to become a king or an emperor because he doesn’t want one man to have all of the power. After him and the conspirators slay him, he gives a speech to the public to explain it to them. “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men? As Caesar loved me, I weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was valiant, I honour him: but, as he was ambitious, I slew him” (Shakespeare 952).
