Jonny Nobody is an IT professional. Being an IT professional means that Jonny is well versed in the world of Information Technology. You may be asking yourself, “well what even is Information Technology?!” Well, I’ll tell you. Information Technology is the study of computerized systems used for storing, retrieving, and sending information. One day Johnny was working at his computer, typing away on his keyboard and clicking frantically on his mouse, otherwise known as a peripheral devices. You see, Johnny was running late for a deadline. He had to type a document on his word processor, detailing how much RAM was needed for the new software he was developing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until he was finished that he realized it all would …show more content…
However, suddenly he was stricken by the remembrance that he had failed to update his e-commerce blog today. In his blog he talked about the ins and outs of e-commerce, primarily through personal experience with customer-to-customer transactions on sites like craigslist and eBay. Johnny quickly veered off to the nearest internet café and opened up his laptop. Once Windows finally booted up, he double clicked on the shortcut to google chrome’s internet browser that was located on his taskbar. After searching the webpage he used to write his blog on googles search engine, he signed in and began writing today’s blog. At the end of his post he always provided a hyperlink to both craigslist and eBay so he’s readers could easily view the sites he spoke of. This time though, Johnny began to daydream about the path one’s computer must go through in order to move from his blog post all the way to eBay’s domain name www.eBay.com. It’s really cool stuff. Now that Johnny was done with his blog it was finally time to head home so he could start adding content to his favorite wiki webpage, Wikipedia. He often enjoyed updating other users’ poorly cited information. Hopefully it doesn’t get him into too much

To further shore up his "IT as commodity" theory, Carr cites the fact that major technology vendors, such as Microsoft and IBM, are positioning themselves as "IT utilities," companies that control the provision of business applications over "the grid." Couple this IT-as-utility trend with the rapidly decreasing cost of processing power, data storage and transmission, and even the most "cutting-edge IT capabilities quickly become available to all."
information found on the net is the product of people who have access to computers, with inevitable reflection of their own
In his essay, “Picking Nits on the Net,” John Oughton reminds Internet users that information on the Net does not have a guarantee of authenticity, so it must be carefully evaluated. Oughton gives some examples and also provides some useful advice on evaluating information on the Internet. Oughton’s writing is well supported by reasonable arguments, informative and very useful, and the examples that he uses are commonly encountered by most Internet users; however, sometimes he understates the advantages of valuable information on the Net.
Computers and information technology seem to be bringing about a magnitude of change comparable to that which took place during the Industrial Revolution, transforming our social, economic, and political institutions; our understanding of what it means to be human; and the distribution of power in the world. Some may argue that computer professionals have very little say in what technologies get designed and built. This seems to be mistaken on at least two counts. First, we can distinguish between computer professionals as individuals and computer professionals as a group. Even if individuals have little power in the jobs they hold, they can exert power collectively. Second, individuals can have an effect if they think of themselves as professionals and consider it their responsibility to anticipate the impact of their work. Computer professionals might argue that they create the technology but are not responsible for how it is used. This argument is, however, problematic for a number of reasons and perhaps foremost because it fails to recognize the potential for solving some of the problems of abuse in the design of the technology. Computer professionals are in the ideal position to think about the potential problems with computers and to design so as to avoid these problems.
Information technology (IT) strategy is long term overall plan of the company to achieve the set goal against constantly changing IT requirements (Rouse, 2012). Information strategy should align with overall company’s business strategy for the success. It strategy covers all the factors for IT infrastructure management which includes cost of software and hardware, IT resource management, vendor management and other aspects associated to IT environment. IT strategy plan should be flexible enough to accommodate the business strategy changes, new technology or technology changes, customer requirement changes and budget constraints,. Many companies opt for formalizing the IT strategy plan in a written document long with milestones and critical success factors. IT strategy is a comprehensive plan that information technology management professionals use to guide their organizations (Rouse, 2012).
“Have you ever wondered when the first computer was invented? How about how the computer operates in the inside? In today’s society, everyone uses a computer, whether if the computer is a laptop or a desktop for working purposes or for both social networking and to do other personal stuff. This is beneficial information to the world because learning more about how computers can enhance their own prior knowledge.”(K’yanna Willis Paragraph 1).Every computer has program that operate the computer and these programs are writing by software engineers to make people life easy. Software engineers develop and create program. However not everyone can become a software engineer. To become a software engineer people should to have knowledge about the software engineering and education background.

Today, our society has access to mankind’s collective knowledge with the internet. Constantly updated, the internet keeps everyone in the loop. If there is a traffic jam, Google Maps will notify you. If there is a new movie release, Fandango will ask to reserve tickets for you. If there is a limited-time sale, Amazon will email you. Information constantly bombards us. The internet moves fast, and we must try to keep up to stay in
For more than a decade now, I’ve been spending a lot of time online, searching and surfing and sometimes adding to the great databases of the Internet. The web has been a godsend to me s a writer. Research that once required days in the stacks or periodical rooms of the libraries can now be done in minutes. A few Google searches, some quick clicks on the hyperlinks, and I’ve got the telltale fact or pithy quote...
Information technology is the technology involving the development, maintenance, and the use of computer systems, software and networks for the processing and distribution of data. Information technology has many benefits in our lives like it prevents error; it decreases the amount of paper works, it creates products faster, it helps us save more time, it helps us access more information easily, it helps us communicate faster, cheaper and more efficient, and many more. Although information technology is beneficial in our lives, we must lessen its use because it contributes to laziness, it violates one’s privacy, it invents dangerous things, it consumes a lot of energy, and it shortens our lives.
Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger created Wikipedia in 2001 in order to give people the ability to either obtain or put out quick, understandable information about any sort of topic, ranging from J.R.R. Tolkien’s fictional Middle Earth to the current conflict in Iraq. According to Capocci’s study on Wikipedia growth, Wikipedia’s total amount of articles has more than sextupled (around seven-million total) and the amount of views per day has more than quintupled in the past five years, making it one of the fastest growing and most commonly visited websites on the internet (par. 1). In agreement with Meier, the point that Wikipedia allows anyone to use its information for absolutely no charge or requirement of registration led to it becoming the 6th most visited website in 2009 (1). Also, the research in the Zotero Report on research citations showed how the amount of internal citations for Wikipedia at the least doubles almost every year since 2002 (Spiro 1). In line with this, citations for Wikipedia now outnumber many accepted ...
The reasoning, or thesis, of the article is the question of whether the Web should be used for information purposes, or for a new marketplace in this expanding goldmine of information.
