The Battle of Trenton
1776
Have you ever heard of the Revolutionary war? Well you probably have but, you might not of known that it was not one big war. Actually, it was separated into small battles one of those battles is the battle of Trenton 1776 which is actually the battle I will be informing you about. This battle has some causes, leaders, events and some effects.
First of all, the battle didn’t happen for no reason actually there were 2 causes. Hobart.k12.in.us stated that Washington, a leader I will be explaining later in the passage, and his continental army felt like they were in trouble and they realy need to win a battle to keep their game up. So on Christmas
One of those events was actually on Christmas Day. According to the Encyclopedia Americana George Washington had the idea that he wanted to attack on the Gerissen of Hessian. So on December 25th, Christmas Day, Washington and his American troops crossed Delaware, and in the next 10 days he won 2 crucial battles, one of those battles was the battle of Trenton. Colonel Rahl had no idea that Washington and his troops were coming near by so they all decided to get drunk. That's when Washington did a surprising attack. Britishbattles.com stated that another event was that the British tried to form in town, but they were under fire and they were under attack from every side. Colonel Rahl was wounded, so him and his troops ended up retreating to an orchard in the South East of where they
According to Britishbattles.com lucky for the Americans came out of the battle with only 4 wounded soldiers and only 2 froze to death. However, the Hessians came out of battle with 20 murdered and about 100 injured but 1000 were captured. Trenton proved a much needed encouragement. Some good effects is that the Continental army finally won the battle that they desperately needed to win. Also, Washington proved he could unit soldiers from different colonies and make them a national force. Some bad news is the British lost a lot of men from being captured and some being murdered. I guess there is more good news for the Americans than for the Hessians.
The battle of Trenton has mixtures of causes, leaders, events, and effects and is very important to the Revolutionary War. How is the battle of Trenton important to the Revolutionary War?

1776 by David McCullough is a non-fiction historical book that historically accounts an in depth view of The American Revolution. The book starts from late 1775 and spans to the end of 1776. The book includes the Battle of New York, the Battle of Brooklyn, the Battle of Boston, the Battle of Fort Washington, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the ending Battle of Trenton in 1776. David McCullough adds a sense of emotion and color to this book where it 's more than a history book that lists facts. Not only does he add a sense of enjoyment to read, 1776 provides detailed accounts of the military life during the end of 1775 to the end of 1776 and detailed accounts of the battles. The author, David McCullough, is trying to make a point that 1776 is
On December of 1776, Washington realized that he was going to have to take extreme action against the British. As a result, on Christmas night,
Many famous people were involved in these battles. Paul Revere was a patriot who is well-known for his famous midnight ride.
Washington's military experience started when he was selected by Governor Dinwiddie, of Virginia, to travel to the Ohio Valley to tell the French to leave. He was only twenty-two years old, inexperienced, and naive. When Washington got there, the French claimed that they owned the land and refused to give it up. Washington reported this to Governor Dinwiddie, and was ordered to go back and construct a fort so they could defend their territory if their was a war against the French. While constructing a fort, named Fort Necessity, Washington and his men shot a small group of French men, because they would not leave the area. It turned out that they had shot French spies. A few days later, the French attacked the unfinished fort which resulted in Washington losing a third of his army. He surrendered and was allowed to return back to Virginia. This foolish mistake made by Washington started the French and Indian War. This was one of the few mistakes George Washington made during his military career.

It was a good year for a revolution, 1776. But it didn't start off quite as well as the colonists would have liked. When George Washington agreed to take command of the American forces in 1775, he probably didn't realize what he was truly getting himself into. Washington took command of an army made up of old men and young boys that had either come from their farms or the street. The army was short on weapons and gunpowder, lacked uniforms, and was racked by disease and drunkenness. Washington understood that what lies ahead would be difficult, considering he would be facing the most powerful country in world. But he probably didn't expect his worst problems to come from his own army, which was an undisciplined and untrained group that would eventually tamper with his great patience. Through it all he would stay determined and always try to stay one step ahead of the enemy.
...vancing enemies with artillery and rifle fire. The British casualties exceeded two thousand Jackson ended up only loosing thirteen to death with fifty-eight wounded or missing. With both sides not aware of the treaty of Ghent ending the war had been signed two weeks earlier, so the battle had no effect on the outcome. Still, this victory with it’s tremendous casualty ratio. The idea of untrained and volunteer soldiers against veteran British soldiers was astonishing. Jackson was then seen as a hero next to George Washington.
...he surrender. Even if he would have arrived much sooner, a British defeat was inevitable. He left the colonies in 1782. The colonies had become the newest nation, and named itself the United States of America. The hero of the war, George Washington went on to become the first president of the United States. Many wanted him to become the king, but he refused because he didn’t want all the power just like their tyrant cousins.
The Battle of Trenton was during the early times of the Revolutionary War. It occurred in Trenton, New Jersey, and this is why it is called The Battle of Trenton. (so original!) George Washington decided to cross the Delaware river in the middle of the night on December 25, 1776. He does this because he does not want to sit and wait for the British to come to him after all of his defeats and losses. Washington decided that that he wanted to do a surprise attack on the British troops, who were camping out in the city of Trenton.

The American Revolution: the war for our independence. This revolution opened the door to our liberty, freedom, and basically what America is now. Most Americans have heard the stories of famous battles, important people (George Washington for instance), and everything in between. However, this was only for our side of the American Revolution and a small fraction of people have been told of Britain’s campaign of the revolution. The only thing people have been told was the Britain lost the war. What of Britain’s triumphs, strategies, and everything that happened in the span of a few years? Not many people know it, but the British struck a major blow against the Patriots in the last few years of the war. Even though the United States won the American Revolution, Britain struck a major blow against the colonists when the British successfully and brutally took the town of Charleston, South Carolina.
My research paper is over the Hessians. In this paper I will be explaining who they are, what role they played in the revolutionary war, and when/where they fought. This paper may also contain some details of different forts and leaders in the war. So enjoy and have fun reading this paper
One night, on March 5, 1770, a street fight occurred between a group of American patriots and some British soldiers stationed in Boston. The Americans harassed the troops by yelling and shouting names at them and throwing snowballs and sticks. A crowd formed and in the noise and confusion, weapons were fired. In the end, ...
Many results occurred from the aftermath of The Battle Of Bunker Hill. For Instance the National park services states that the American soldiers inflicted severe death in the ranks of the British, 268 dead and 828 wounded. Also history.com tells that even know it was a loss it gave a great boost of confidence to the new and inexperienced rebel soldiers.
It was the evening of Christmas, 1776. The voice of an army sergeant shouted, “Everybody, up this instant! We’ve got a battle to win!” George Washington’s order awoke us soldiers, and we prepared for a rough night, as General Washington knew it would be more than strenuous to get the Continental Army, made up of 2,400 men, across the Delaware River especially in such harsh weather conditions. The plan was to attack in the morning since the Hessians would be celebrating Christmas tonight, they will hopefully be too tired to put up a fight tomorrow morning. The cold, brisk air intruded into the tent, as the rest of the soldiers arose from their slumber, not knowing what the day would bring them, or should I say, night.
