Business and the Internet
The past several years have marked a time which is comparable to the coming of television and the radio. The Internet has grown from a simple way to send messages to and from two different computers with different operating systems, known as the beginning of E-Mail, to a way to sell and buy products just like in the tangible world. This article explains that the Internet or Web must be reckoned in dog years, because the pace of change is so fast that one year on the Internet is like seven years in any other medium. Fifteen million households connected to the "Net" can be a large market for any business willing and ready to scoop it up. By the year 2000, the projection is that North America will have 38

Fifteen million people is a very large consumer marketplace. Consumers are not the only ones "surfing" around for info. Businesses also focus on other companies to sell their products. General Electric sold machine and appliance parts using a new business to business technology called "extranet". GE used its successful "extranet" to roll in 1996 online sales of one billion dollars. Another very successful type of business on the net is the coming of services backed by research, such as discount stock trading, including e.Schwab and a Web-only company called E*Trade. Travel services have been very promising because the transactions can be supported by extensive computer databases of useful …show more content…
A question to ask is whether Web advertising will ever be big enough to support large investments in news, building deep information databases and creating new entertainment. McGrath (1997) explains by quoting, "Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the cutting-edge MIT Media Lab, argues that the Web by its very nature may be too personalized ever to be a mass medium, but he believes that commerce may flourish anyway, with advertising targeted to small market niches or even individual customers." (P. 84)
The question posed in this article is whether the Web should be used for entertainment or for commercial businesses. It argues that now the Web is creating a "free" kind of attitude that makes the consumer want all information for free. This attitude will linger for a long time because that is what made the Web grow so large. Sooner or later companies will have to cash in on their investment to the Web. It also argues that with more and more businesses putting up Web pages, the more the Web is overrun by commercial use. The beginning purpose of the Web was to create a place for people to share ideas and information over their computer. Since businesses find a way to squeeze into every part of our life, the concept of business to 15 million people could cause an "overload" of information, drowning out what it was meant for, the sharing of ideas. As the article points

Many anti vaccine parents say that they are worried that their children will be adversly affected by the harmful side effects of the vaccine. Some even believe it can cause mental illness in children such as attention defecate disorder or autism, but this is simply not the case. Most vaccinated children will show no side effects, but as Cathy Campbell of The Ottawa Citizen states, occasionally “high fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes, sore mouth and widespread skin rash are symptoms, and take about 10 days to recover”. If you compare these uncommon symptoms to those of the diseases their being vaccinated against, it would be a small price to pay in comparison to the symptoms of polio or the
Internet as a medium has been a thoroughly discussed topic, especially in recent years with the rise of the World Wide Web. Analysis of relevant literature in the topic shows that the internet is not a new medium. This argument can be shown by looking more in depth into what defines a medium and what defines the internet. From that analysis by looking from a historical point of view the internet can be seen as an old medium which uses re-mediation to deliver content to users. The connection between internet and its users has helped the internet influence the way media is viewed today. Although the internet is not a new medium the content it presents is new. The advances in technology have helped the use of the internet reach new heights in terms of interest and it's capabilities are now being utilised by the masses. This rise in popularity has given the implication that the internet is new. These points can be analysed in more depth which has led me to take the stance that the internet is not a new medium.
by participating in an internship. Interning in a field of choice will stand out on a students resume and help them with their job search after graduation. Participating interns gain on-the-job training that integrates education, career development and public service, while agencies hosting interns benefit from the contributions of creativeand innovative students. Everyone a student meets during the course of their internship is now a contact. These people can help guide their career path as they make their way into the business world. These people know other people in the industry as well and can provide introductions. The fellow interns they meet may also
Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are highly interested in it really helps them get a bigger picture of the outside world.

Vaccinations do come with risks but are minimal compared to the diseases they are fighting off. Some side effects are injection site reactions, mild fever, shivering, fatigue, headache, muscle and joint pain. These are mild side effects but only last about one to two days. When comparing these side effects from the vaccine or preventable death of a child, getting the vaccine seems like a safer bet. It takes ten to fifteen years, and several studies for new vaccines to make it through the four stages of safety and effectiveness testing before approval. They first test the child vaccines on adults and the FDA collects data to ensure the vaccine does what it should do. After the vaccine is proven to be safe and effective, physicians decide whether to recommend
Vaccines are becoming increasingly hazardous for many children and parents are not being informed about the safety of their children. Current reports are linking vaccines to serious life-threatening disorders such as asthma, autism, immune system dysfunction, and mental retardation (Williams). These recent revelations are causing an increasing amount of people to claim religious and medical exemptions from vaccines. From 1999 to 2006, exemptions have more than doubled from 9,722 to 24,919 (Cronin). It is very clear that vaccinations are posing many problems for parents everywhere. Each day researchers are finding out about vaccines and are realizing that there are a lot more risks than benefits. Dr Phillip F. Incao explains: “Today, far more children suffer from allergies and other chronic immune system disorders than from life-threatening infectious disease. It is neither reasonable nor prudent to persist in presuming that the benefits of any vaccination outweigh its risk” (qtd in Spaker). While infectious diseases are becoming uncommon there is no need for any person to get vaccinated.
Radical feminists view prostitutes as women who are objectified and treated as mere sexual objects by men. They believe that prostitutes do not act according to their own wishes, but act due to oppression. They regard men in the form of oppressors and believe that prostitution further reinforces stereotypes and exploitation of women. They believe that men believe universal myths regarding their gender which, can trigger them to take on the role of oppressing men. In this context, two myths are: men require more sex than women and that men are genetically stronger than women and therefore, must take on dominating roles in relationships. As a result, radical feminists believe that all displays of female sexuality is degrading towards women.
With the social construct of gender lending to most of the problems, the roles that are forced onto women in society can easily be said to cause the lack of equilibrium in power. Language, interpersonal behavior, and mass media all contribute to male dominance in their own ways be it with portrayal of genders, that men are expected to control most conversations, and how language in itself ignores, trivializes, and sexualizes women (p. 223). For example, the words with which refer to men imply power and success where with women it implies promiscuity and subordination (p. 223). Just these few things explain how gender inequality has persisted even in our forward-thinking

One of the most widely used technologies is the Internet, or also known as the World Wide Web. “In August 1981 about 200 computers hosted Web servers. By July 1998 there were over 36 million Web servers, that are hosts to approximately 150 million people” (Strauss). The Internet proves to be very beneficial to education, since students have unlimited access to millions of websites with tons of information. There are only so many newspapers, journals and magazines that you can find in libraries or subscribe to. Therefore, the Internet offers an unlimited pile of information that students can always have. Moreover, students are enriched with the most current information in any subject, along with regular updates. Students are able to use the Internet anytime of day, as long as they have a computer at hand. The research process will not have to end when the school day is over (Wissick, 82).
At the very start, internet revolution was known as a world wide web that would change everything. In 1990s, the concept of "online business" was created, this business is known by various names such as dot-coms, e-biz etc. which made easier to start a business on internet and inexpensive as well. Whether it's a big or a small, local or international it can reach infront of the world very easily. Thousands of ventures have been made on internet for online business on the basis of brick and mortar. Online business is not different from any other venture. Same rules and principles are applied. First thing to start up a business is to create a business plan and think of how to make money. Some of the options which should be applied for an online business includes, sell products, sell advertising, sell information, sell services and to become a reseller. All of these options are complied together. For any virtual business an individual should always look for products with high margins, high demand and less competition either for physical or digital manner. However, many services are sold on internet such as web hosting, domain name registration, software applications and comparison of different products and services. Selling information is another basic option in an online business which is done in two forms, one is subscribing on a website where online articles are available for free and on the other hand e-books are popular and are free, they can be downloaded easily plus when the writing is done the cost of subscription is very low. Advertising on internet leads toward a lot of money though it's an expensive procedure, with a lot of traffic on a web site one can make money easily by joining any kind of ad network such as Google. By getting affiliated with another web site can also make a lot of money such as sending a buyer on another merchant's web page, like this one can get a percentage on per sale basis but first an individual needs to get expert in marketing for search engines.
Internet related businesses. The internet has complete many markets faster to seamless competition because the internet has made it very easy to compare prices, quickly and efficiently (perfect information). Also, the internet has made barriers to entry lower.
