Legendary Quarterbacks: A History of Greatness. From individually legendary stats to postseason greatness, different quarterbacks over the last eighty years have established themselves as some of the greatest and most esteemed of all time. Naturally, certain quarterbacks have done more than others, but that does not mean that those who have not done as much have not proven their legacy. At the same time, some quarterbacks have put up incredible counting stats, and possibly won multiple championships, but many consider their era easier, as their competition seemed far weaker since the game of football had not evolved nearly to the extent that it has today. However, the ability to compete at a high level among their competition for a long period of time — regardless of league skill relative to future or past periods of football — shines bright on a quarterback’s profile. For this reason, many consider quarterbacks such as Sid Luckman and Otto Graham among the all-time greats, even though their counting stats could easily get overlooked, especially compared to players such as Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
