Johannes Kepler was on December 27, 1571 in Weil der Stadt, Baden-Wurttemberg. Johannes’s grandfather was actually mayor of the city, but once Johannes was born all the wealth was gone. Kepler’s father was a mercenary and left Johannes when he was five, and his mother was a ‘healer’ or ‘herbalist’. Johannes was born premature which caused him to be sickly throughout childhood. He contracted smallpox at a very age and it caused him to become visually impaired, but he soon outgrew his sickly stage and then dived into his studies.
Johannes was captivated by astronomy when he was very young. At six years old he saw the Great Comet of 1577 and at age nine observed a lunar eclipse. Growing up Kepler was not the brightest student, but after switching schools his intellect shone bright. He was offered a scholarship to attend the University of Tubingen where he studied under Vitus Muller and Jacob Heerbrand, both famous in their fields.
While there he studied theology, philosophy, mathematics, and astronomy. After his intellectual abilities became well known he was offered a professorship in Graz, Styria. One of his responsibilities was to make astrological predictions, and after his predictions of a cold winter and the Turks invading came true he was promoted. One day, while teaching a class, he observed that his drawing of circles and triangles could explain the solar system. He strongly believed in the Copernican system and with much examining he found that the solar system was three dimensional, not two dimensional.

While he worked with Tycho his mother was put on trial for witchcraft, which caused him to put his work on hold until she was later released and freed of all charges. Kepler's life was certainly a successful one despite the fallbacks and devastation. Without Kepler's devotion to planetary motion we would not be as far advanced as we are today. Because of his dedication, along with others, we know a lot more about the planets motion today.

Edwin had a mom, dad, three sisters, and two brothers. His mom and dad were named John Powell and Virginia James Hubble. His sisters were Virginia, Helen, and Lucy Lee. Edwin's two brothers were named Henry and William. William died as a student at a college in Wisconsin and Virginia died when she was a very young girl.

Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Thorn, Poland. He was the youngest son of four children and the son of a prosperous merchant. Following his father's death, his Uncle Lukas Watzelrode, bishop of Ermland, adopted him. Copernicus began his studies in Thorn and then at the University of Cracow where he studied mathematics and became very interested in humanistic studies.1 Copernicus left Cracow for Italy where he went to the Universities of Bologna and later Padua. He studied many different subjects including mathematics, canon law, and astronomy. Copernicus received a degree in medicine at the University of Padua, and went on to receive his doctorate from the University of Ferrara in canon law.

The first record of the movement of the planets was produced by Nicolaus Copernicus. He proposed that the earth was the center of everything, which the term is called geocentric. Kepler challenged the theory that the sun was the center of the earth and proposed that the sun was the center of everything; this term is referred to as heliocentric. Although Keppler was Brahe’s assistant, he argued for Copernicus and analyzed Brahe’s data to conclude that the sun was the center of the universe. This paper is an overview of the Kepler spacecraft and its mission in space. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Association (NASA), Kepler, named after Renaissance astronomer Johannes Kepler, “is a space observatory launched…to discover Earth-like planets orbiting other stars.” Kepler does this by searching for planets within our galaxy that have a similar size to Earth within a habitable zone. A habitable zone is a distance between the planet and its star where water can exist on the planet’s surface. Additionally, Kepler is aimed at searching for planets with similar one-year orbits like that of Earth. As technology advances on Earth, increased standards of living and life expectancies have taken a toll on Earth’s fleeting, finite resources. Kepler potentially provides scientists with information regarding planets that can serve as a future home when resources have diminished and information that can foreshadow inevitabilities about Earth through older, Earth-like planets.

Sir Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, England on January 4, 1643. He was underdeveloped and very small as a baby, being born a couple months premature to his mother, Hannah Newton. From the time he was a toddler, Newton lived with his grandmother (his father died three months prior to his birth and his mother moved away to get remarried to prosperous minister). Newton would fill his need for parents with God. As a boy, he studied the Bible for days on end, finding inspiration and developing his spiritual character. In fact, his grandmother decided she would enroll him in a school for the mentoring of future ministers. These events would cause Newton to develop a relentless work ethic.
Johannes Kepler was one of the most distinguished astronomers and mathematicians. So what was so compelling about a simple relation between two numbers that he effortlessly went ahead to compare one of the most critical theorems of mathematics and this ratio. Throughout his life, Kepler was so fascinated with the Divine Proportion that he wrote several transitions of text on this subject and even fabricated the Kepler's triangle on this basis.
How was the modern model of the solar system formed? Many of its elements come from Nicholaus Copernicus’ heliocentric theory. Summarized briefly, the heliocentric model of the solar system portrays the sun as the center of the solar system with the planets revolving around it. This is contrary to the older and more primitive geocentric model which portrays the Earth as the center of the solar system instead. Nicholaus Copernicus’ theory regarding the movement of the planets and the position of the sun and Earth has had a profound effect on the scientific understanding of the solar system. His ideas were originally met with opposition due to religious beliefs of the time. By publishing his theory, Copernicus set the stage for a drastic and positive change in scientific and religious beliefs.

In 1609 the telescope was invented and Galileo began making his own lenses for better telescopes and then started looking at the sky. In December and January (1609-1610) it is said that he made more discoveries that changed the world that anyone has made before or since. He wrote a book called the “Starry Messenger”, and said that there were mountains on the moon, the Milky Way was made up of many stars, and there were small bodies in orbit around Jupiter. He used his mathematical skills to calculate the motions of these bodies around Jupiter. In 1610 he started looking at Saturn and discovered the rings, and the phases of Saturn (just like our moon’s phases).
