What is job analysis and why is it done?
Organizations are growing in size each and every day, which in turn creates a high demand for employees. This outcome, however, needs a systematic approach to determine the right employee for the right position. The process has become so large that organizations need specialized help from Human Resource Management (HRM) departments to ensure that the requirements of the position are met. Therefore, the HRM department provides the function of job analysis in order to select the right individual for the position. “Job analysis is a complex and vital part of every HRM program, as well as an important systematic process used within an organization to determine future members of the workforce.” Job analysis contributes to many important Human Resource Management functions as it identifies and analyzes the relation between the job and what is required.
According to the “Job Analysis: Overview,” Job analysis is a process used to identify and determine in detail the particular job duties, requirements, and the relative importance of these duties for a given position or a particular job. There are many similarities, and differences betweeen high school and college. High School was the best four years of my life. I got in alot of trouble in thoses years, but also had a blast. Now at J.C.C. it is even better than high school, and my eyes are being opened to a whole new world. In Toronto High School you can get away with just about anything. Jefferson Community College is a whole different story. High school begins at eight o'clock, and ends around three. You go to the same seven or eight classes every day. You also see the same people you have grown up with since you were little. You have football season, school dances, after school activities, clubs, boys, plays, and a ton of homework. Also sitting through assemblies, dress codes,and who could forget getting sent to the office for misbehaving.College is a whole new step. You go away to an environment all new to you. You have to leave your friends, and set out to make new relationships to last a lifetime. It is an emotional step alot of kids are not ready for. You no longer have mom and dad to be at your side to help you through your every problem. You now have to become responsible and rely on yourself, and your new friends. Selection for the best candidates for the job is very important in an organization because the performance always depends on employees, the recruiting and hiring is costly and the legal obligations like mismanaging hiring has legal consequence. The main aim of employee selection is to achieve person-job fit which is identifying the knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), and competencies that are central to performing the job. The objective of effective selection is to decide who the right people are, by matching individual characteristics (ability, experience, and training) with the requirements of the job (DeRue & Morgeson, 2007; Kristof -Brown, Zimmermam, & Johnson, 2005). The manager will do checking for reliability and validity of the interviewer. After going to high school for four years, college is definitely a step up. There are similarities, but at the same time more differences. There is still some required classes and homework, but they are different at the same time. Classes in college are bigger as well as the campus, class times vary a lot more, homework takes more time, and the teacher/student communication is a 180 degree change from high school.

Expectations are another difference between high school and college. Students are expected by society to graduate from high school, therefore stripping the need for knowledge and replacing it with a need for a diploma. In high school, one is expected to show up on time and is punished if they do not. Some high schools have a room called sweep, or something of that matter, for students that are unable to make it on time and are forced to sit in a chair and stare at a wall. Nevertheless, college expectations are not as strict. In college, students are not expected to graduate, but instead are projected to educate and better themselves with or without a diploma. The reward is a career, and doing what they desire in life.
Recruitment and selection process are important and essential in the human resource management. Human resource management is a functional process that focuses on the management and recruitment of workers in an organization, also giving directions to workers in the organization. The purpose of recruitment and selection process are helping an organization to find the right person for the right position in a job, employees can know which person is suitable and needed in that specific position through the recruitment and selection process. Recruitment and selection process are about how an organization hire and choose workers during this process, employees are going to choose the most suitable workers and organize the most suitable work for them. When college and high school are contrasted with the financial cost, academics, and social aspects, it becomes clear that university are more costly, more academically challenging, and provides a more socially stimulating environment than high school. These differences should be taken into account by those students who are entering university from high school. High school students who are entering university and are able to take on these differences between the two will be more effectively prepared for the challenges that university can present.
MY RESPONSE: A job analysis should include in every human resource function, because it supports the business strategy, analyzes employees’ performance, and broadcasts the future developments. This practice helps to identify the needs for specific skills, and it's a useful tool for hiring, promotion, and training. For instance, when performing an assessment, you are looking not only for a job performance, you can identify a specific behavior or areas of possible improvements.
