Jessie after the death of his sister Pamela begins to date and have many different girlfriends within a short time frame of a few years. Each of Jessie’s girlfriends all have feelings of wanting to get close to him and he feels the same way about them too. So he will take his girlfriend that he has at a certain time, and they will go to the movies and eating at a restaurant together in order to build a connection and develop chemistry with one another. When a relationship ends up not work out he will then proceed to a new girlfriend. Jessie does this because he is using dating as a kind of distraction for himself when it comes to dealing with the loss of his sister Pamela. It is also turmoil analysis, which is having a relationship when life is in a transition. This is shown by Jessie dealing with Pamela’s death by having many girlfriends in order to fulfill the emptiness that has formed in his life that he is longing to have. The emptiness still ends up being there after he has dated all of his girlfriends because he thought that by doing this it would make the pain go away and fix his suffering that he is dealing with in relation to Pamela and her death. D.J. and her boyfriend Steve have a conversation with each other while on a hiking trip about where they are in their relationship with one another. Steve sees D.J. as his friend that he would just spend time with, and D.J. also has the same view of Steve. She was afraid to tell him how she felt about their relationship because she did not want to make Steve feel upset if she just randomly mentioned it without bringing up the topic of their relationship. They both agree after talking that they should just go their separate ways in life and to not talk or interact with each other
