SEAL Patrol: A Dilemma in Kunar Province

On June 28, 2005, a 4-man SEAL patrol was on a mission in the Kunar Province, Afghanistan to kill or capture a high ranking Taliban leader, thought to be close to Osama Bin Landen. During this mission sometime after the sun came up the Seals were found by a small group of goat herders who had walked right into the middle of the Operation. They were faced with a dilemma: do they execute the goat herders or let them go? In decision that would haunt the mission's sole survivor, the SEALs decided to let the goat herders go, knowing full well there was a good chance they would alert local Taliban forces to the SEAL's presence on the mountain.In an attempt to stay ahead of the Taliban, the SEALs switched to an alternate OP and resumed their mission. …show more content…

Taylor was born 18 May 1975 in Beckley, West Virginia. He attended Independence High School in Coal City, West Virginia, and enlisted in the Navy on 20 June 1994. Jeff was not just a navy seal. He was a son, a husband and a friend. It's been said that Jeff was always the one who would help people when they would need help or be there was no one else was. Jeff Taylor was a hero. Some people might say a that a hero is someone who is a professional athlete and someone who gets paid a bunch of money to play a sport but i don't see it that way. What is a hero? A hero is someone who is selfless in a time when everyone is looking out for themselves..to give up their place in a line..to help someone out when they can't help themselves...to save a life by rescuing someone...to choose a path that will lead others to a place of success...to influence positively in a negative society..to put someone else's needs in front of their own..to give up their life to save someone else...the soldiers of this country are heroes...they fight for our country...and they die for our country..selflessly..
