Tim Tebow “You never know how the tough times you are going through today will inspire someone else tomorrow.” (Tebow, shaken). In his book, Tim Tebow talks about the struggles he's been though and how God has helped him through it all. He lives his life always honoring God and his decisions portray being a Christian. Tim Tebow is a great role model because he's athletic, he's a good leader and mentor and most important he loves God. Tim Tebow was called a “miracle baby” because his parents were told he had to be aborted for his mom to live. Through that time his family prayed to God for a miracle. God protected Tim and on August 14, 1987 he was born. He was raised in a Christian home in the Philippines, where his parents told him “God has a special plan for your life” (Tebow). When Tim was three years old his family moved back to the United States. Tim homeschooled up until high school, but played football for Nease High School in Ponte Vendra. He attended college at the University of Florida from 2006-2009. He …show more content…
He has showed me that God is faithful even through hardships. He has gone through a lot of tough things in his life, but he remained in Christ and Christ guided him through it. Tim Tebow probably gets made fun of for being a Christian. He has been cheered for and he has been booed for. People are waiting for him to trip up and make a mistake. He finds his identity in Christ, not in sports, fame or what other people think. “What God knows about us is more important than what others think.” (Tebow, shaken) I also learned that if you work hard you can accomplish anything. Tim Tebow frequently says “hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard”. When he's not doing so well in baseball, he tries his best and that's all that matters. Tim Tebow is a Godly man that has been through ups and downs and uses his testimony to witness to others and spread joy to those in need of
Daniel Boone was born November 2, 1734 in a log cabin in Berks County, near Pennsylvania. Boone is one of the most famous pioneers in history. He spent most of his life exploring and settling the American frontier.
Throughout the ages, men and women have been the center of myths and legends, becoming tragic heroes in large part due to the embellishment bestowed upon them over the ages. Perhaps, though, truth can be stranger than fiction. Pat Tillman was a man of many talents and virtues, never satisfied by the mediocre, striving for more excitement, more meaning, in his tragically short time on Earth, and lived out the phrase carpe diem to the letter. Even Pat Tillman had tragic flaws; his unwillingness to be average, his undying loyalty to family and country, and his unusually concrete set of morals all eventually led to his death. These, whatever the outcome might have been, are not, by any means, archetypical tragic flaws. They are, as Jon Krakauer later described, “tragic virtues.” Where Men Win Glory is not solely a tribute to Pat Tillman. What makes it truly unique is its exhaustively comprehensive history leading up to Pat’s death, and just as important, the events that took place after his death, including the cover-ups, scandals, corruption, falsified documents, and lies that helped, also, to emphasize the themes, of which Pat was the epitome. Pat’s loyalty and devotion to the things that he loved, the use of misinformation surrounding his death, and others’ reactions to what Pat considered paramount in his life all played a key role in the tragedy of a man that won glory.
One thing that got Tim Green to the point he is today was his younger past. Tim was born on December 12, 1963 in Liverpool, New York. As a child, Tim wanted to be amazing. As a young athlete, Tim, like every aspiring athlete, wanted to make it to the big league, the NFL. Also,
In my belief in Christianity, I deem God worthy of my service, as Jesus as an example. I strive to be selfless, giving, and not focused on anything else like Jesus. Such that I believe in another worldview, Phil Jackson, I do not see him as a role model. References Fittipaldi, S. E. (1982). Zen-Mind, Christian-Mind, Empty-Mind.
Pat Tillman was a very loyal person whom he served in the army and his country. One of the things that he is loyal is that Pat made a decision to leave the sport that he loved and join the military, I mean there were some people that had a hard time believing that Pat Tillman would give up all of his perks of being a professional football player in order to fight for his country. But before starting his military service, Tillman married his high school girlfriend Marie. Tillman and his brother went through training to join the army rangers and served several tours in combat. He was very loyal to others and sacrifice his self for his country
...ns, he does not have to be a nice man, he just has to be able to act like one. A man who can change his entire demeanor with the wind, does not have to be viewed as a role model, but he is a hero in my mind.
Joseph Campbell once said “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” This quotes talks about how in order to be a hero, you have to care about other people. It really emphasizes that you cannot be a true hero if you only care about yourself. All traits and functions that people would consider heroic involve others, not just themselves. There are so many heroic traits out there, but 3 are very important. A true hero is courageous, will rescue others in need, and does not look down on people who are not privileged.
Ideas abound of what true heroism is in this day and age. To some, a true hero may be the person that led their favorite sports team to a championship. To others, true heroes are the doctors that helped a loved one get better from a serious illness. Some even see the person that gives them inspiration on a day to day basis as a true hero. To many, however, a true hero is so much more than that. To many, a true hero is the one that goes the extra mile t follow a strict moral code, both at home and in the public eye. A true hero is the one who will stand up for what he or she believes and what is right, no matter what the consequences may be. A true hero gives hope for humanity to the masses. Atticus Finch, from Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird is one who possesses all of those attributes of heroism and more.
Instructed by the NFL not to use his career to publicize his personal, religious beliefs, Tim Tebow didn't throw a fit. Instead, he became physically involved and active in his cause and community. He's been criticized time and time again, however, he has continued his efforts towards his cause. Others don't agree with him, yet he's not acting out, offending large groups, to try to get his point across. He's putting in hard work to be the change he wants to see.
What truly is amazing is the person Tim Tebow represents off the field. He is a devout Christian who works to spread his religion and give hope to those in need. Tebow has been involved with controversy that started in his days in high school, due to a law in Florida that allowed him to pick his high school. Tebow is possibly the only player to be under national scrutiny from his high school playing days through his career in the NFL both on and off the field. Most of this controversy is because of his faith and how he displayed it on field. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a polarizing person and player in the sense that people either love or hate him. Tim Tebow is, indeed, a great person and role model on the playing field as well as off of it.
...of people look at Walter Payton as one of the greatest running backs of all time, but in my eyes he was also an inspiration, and a role model.
“A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with [their] freedom” (Dylan). However, though heroes face complications throughout their quest, in the end they often accomplish an important rask. In the book, Like Water for Chocolate, the main character, Tita shows a perfect example of a hero. Tita is in a continuous emotional quest throughout the entire story, but proves along the way she is indeed one who will not fail. Many characteristics of a hero certainly fit Tita’s character, however, there are some very important ones, she: suffers an unusual childbirth, yields a special weapon, goes through a traumatic event that leads to an adventure, has supernatural help, experiences atonement with mother, and when she dies she is rewarded spiritually.
Lebron is a positive role model because of how he voices his opinions on social issues. Lebron feels a need to voice his opinions on social issues to show people it is not bad to speak your mind no matter if it is accepted or not. Such as when Lebron wore a “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt during warmups (Scott). During the 2014 year a man named Eric Garner was choked to death by a police officer. LeBron being the kind of person responded not in words but in action. He along with other wore these T-Shirts to speak against police brutality. Another time Lebron made his opinions known was when he and other spoke out against the racial injustice that exists today (Grossman). He put on a speech on national television. It was not to berate anyone or group but was to inspire change in relations between people and law enforcement. He made it known that Black were target of this kind of crimes more than whites and brought that knowledge to the public stage. It was
To transform a good company to great company is all manages’ dream, but only few of them make it. To find out the core factors which lead to a good company became a great company is very difficult, because in different era, different industry companies face different opportunities and threats. To begin the research for the Good-to-Great study, Jim Collins and his research team searched for companies that: performed at or below the general stock market for at least fifteen years; then at a transition point began to pull away from the competition, and sustained returns of at least 3 times the general market for the next fifteen years. He started with a list of 1,435 companies and found eleven that met his criteria. These eleven companies produced, on average, a return of 6.9 times the general stock market during the 15 years following the transition points. Collins chose a 15-year span to avoid "one-hit wonders" and lucky breaks. In the book, Collins highlights some important factors which are the result of the research. They are level 5 leadership, fist who … then what, confront the brutal facts, the hedgehog concept, culture of discipline, and technology accelerators, (Collins, 2001, p.12).
Many people find someone in his/her life to look up to, a role model. There are many different kinds of role models; they can be singers, public speakers, a parent, or even a friend. Role models also are not determined by certain criteria. A role model can be a role model just because they are a leader or have a great talent. Oprah Winfrey is considered a role model to many individuals because of her tough childhood, wonderful charity work, her schools, and the true relationships with her fans. Oprah stands out among many people on her ability to feel others’ pain and help those people get through their troubling times.
