Jeff Bailey, who is a member of AIDS Project Los Angeles, has worked with many people who are at risk and has firsthand experience working with these vulnerable populations. SPA 4, an area that AIDS Project Los Angeles serves, is a dense region in Los Angeles with an abundant amount of HIV/AIDS cases (Mapping HIV Prevention and Treatment in Los Angeles County, 2009). Today, he helps to prevent HIV/AIDS and is now the director of Health Education and Prevention (Our Team, 2017). He helps affected people receive bags of food each year. He also helps to provide nutrition workshops and manage these patients’ health through innovative methods, such as holding yoga workshops. Before becoming a priest, he received his undergraduate degree in history from UCLA (Our Team, 2017). This affected his leadership style because being a priest enabled him to utilize his religious beliefs through offering to pray for and with the patients. Receiving his degree from UCLA also helped broaden the availability of work opportunities. He also became interested in a career in public health and later received a master's degree in public health from California State University Northridge (Our Team, 2017). This degree provided him with current knowledge about public health issues in the world and sparked his interest in teaching. Jeff Bailey’s overall leadership falls under the category of openness, and he believes that many leaders can adapt this leadership style according to the circumstances (J. Bailey, Personal Communication, March 20th, 2017). He is open by utilizing a very charismatic leadership style when working with people that have HIV/AIDS and those that live in nursing facilities. While working at AIDS Project Los Angeles, he envisioned prevention services for people at risk of developing HIV and provided health education and risk reduction services focused on (MSM) (Buhl, 2004). With his behavior, he can work well with others because he is very competent when agreeing with their decisions of HIV/AIDS treatments. As a charismatic leader, he is very empathetic towards elderly people by using his emotional stability. Bailey also firmly believes in a visionary leadership style because that is how he believes can best help the organization
