Jeff Bailey, who is a member of AIDS Project Los Angeles, has worked with many people who are at risk and has firsthand experience working with these vulnerable populations. SPA 4, an area that AIDS Project Los Angeles serves, is a dense region in Los Angeles with an abundant amount of HIV/AIDS cases (Mapping HIV Prevention and Treatment in Los Angeles County, 2009). Today, he helps to prevent HIV/AIDS and is now the director of Health Education and Prevention (Our Team, 2017). He helps affected people receive bags of food each year. Before becoming a priest, he received his undergraduate degree in history from UCLA (Our Team, 2017). This affected his leadership style because being a priest enabled him to utilize his religious beliefs through offering to pray for and with the patients. Receiving his degree from UCLA also helped broaden the availability of work opportunities. He also became interested in a career in public health and later received a master's degree in public health from California State University Northridge (Our Team, 2017). This degree provided him with current knowledge about public health issues in the world and sparked his interest in teaching. Jeff Bailey’s overall leadership falls under the category of openness, and he believes that many leaders can adapt this leadership style according to the circumstances (J. Bailey, Personal Communication, March 20th, 2017). He is open by utilizing a very charismatic leadership style when working with people that have HIV/AIDS and those that live in nursing facilities. While working at AIDS Project Los Angeles, he envisioned prevention services for people at risk of developing HIV and provided health education and risk reduction services focused on (MSM) (Buhl, 2004). With his behavior, he can work well with others because he is very competent when agreeing with their decisions of HIV/AIDS treatments. HIV is a serious issue that is commonly pushed off and considered an irrelevant topic. In “AIDS, Inc.” by Helen Epstein, the topics of lifestyle brands and government funded organizations were discussed, and provided readers with an understanding of the depths of the disease. The excerpt discusses programs (i.e. loveLife) that had the potential and opportunity to save and inform many lives, but failed to do so, which continues to be a problem today. Our government is capable of helping and educating those who are infected, and anyone who could become infected. Leadership within Christian community should be with distinct qualities and traits of an effective Christian leader. The author defined leadership by not focusing on profit when Christ said, “Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” The author explored the leadership qualities and practices that are not only distinct within the community of Christian leadership but also applicable in any arena of leadership. Significance comes from working with associates and friends. Similarly, the joy of success comes from the journey toward it than its accomplishment. Like Klinger, Hitchcock agreed that in a managerial role is essential and performs a vital function, leadership must come first to make managing more effective. If management is efficiency in climbing the ladder, then it is leadership that determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. To help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate the permanent white-water environment safely, Hitchcock (2013) suggested that there are three constants that provide stability in times of great uncertainty such as a change, a choice, and principles. The role of leadership has become increasing valuable for organizations to be successful. According to Huber (2014), Leadership can best be defined as method utilized to ensure that an objective is completed. There are many different types of leaderships that can be found within each organization. In this paper I will highlight an example of a specific leadership style that we come across in healthcare settings. I will review my leadership self-assessment results and discuss the impact of leadership on staff and groups.

In society, there are many gender stereotypes about what males and females should or shouldn’t do. These gender stereotypes result in men and women being treated unequally. Children can also be affected by these gender stereotypes. Even though there are gender stereotypes everyone should choose to be and do as they desire.
During my interview with Regina Martinez, BS RN and currently an Assistant Director of a home health agency, I discovered her leadership style matched the above quote. Martinez had extensive experience in management prior to joining the medical field. As a single working mother, she worked her way up from waitress to manger of a popular seafood restaurant. However, her dream had always been to become a nurse and she began her medical career as a certified nurse’s aide (CNA), while working through college. She graduated from nursing school with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and has been a Registered Nurse (RN) for more than two decades. She quickly earned the respect of doctors and fellow nurses, becoming a Charge Nurse on the floors she worked. She has worked as Medical Surgery nurse, emergency room, and as Director of Nursing for home health and long-term care facilities where she was responsible for over 150 employees.
Health care management is the profession that provides leadership and direction to organizations that deliver personal health services and to divisions, departments, units, or services within those organizations (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2017, p. 2). Health care managers are crucial in terms of the development and running of a health care organization. With this said, health care managers have a variety of leadership styles available to them and it is important that when using these styles that they use them to their advantage in order to maintain positive outcomes. Additionally, the leader motivates, increases job satisfaction, involves the team in decision making, develops team members’ skills, and a role model (Kent, n.d.). The above descriptions fit my informal nursing leadership in the way I act in my practice. For example, I motivate the team to work together and collaboratively on delivering a safe and quality patient centered care thru the organization’s mission and vision. I set a role model on how, and effective communication is essential in relationships. Leadership is increasingly important in today's society. Many experts and scholars point out that the current leadership crisis concerns moral and character problems in many leaders (Ahn, Ettner, & Loupin, 2012; Callahan, 2004; Wright & Quick, 2011). The following interview report is intended primarily for exploration and comparison of the traits and characteristics of leadership. A leader of a clinical medicine centre was interviewed for this report. The purpose of this report is to explore the leadership characters and traits, and how they can be developed in this turbulent environment. First, I make a brief introduction regarding the background of the respondent and her working environment. The report also describes this leader's personal and subjective perceptions in relation to a literature review which investigates the traits and characteristics of leadership. The report concludes with a comparison and discussion of the results of the clinical condition on the basis of the interview and literature review. At the same time, the report aims to put forward feasible and effective advice and specific programs for present and future leaders and managers in the health care system.
The emergence of HIV/AIDS is viewed globally as one of the most serious health and developmental challenges our society faces today. Being a lentivirus, HIV slowly replicates over time, attacking and wearing down the human immune system subsequently leading to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) at which point the affected individual is exposed to life threatening illnesses and eventual death. Despite the fact that a few instances of this disease have been accounted for in all parts of the world, a high rate of the aforementioned living with HIV are situated in either low or medium wage procuring nations. The Sub-Saharan region Africa is recognized as the geographic region most afflicted by the pandemic. In previous years, people living with HIV or at risk of getting infected did not have enough access to prevention, care and treatment neither were they properly sensitized about the disease. These days, awareness and accessibility to all the mentioned (preventive methods, care etc.) has risen dramatically due to several global responses to the epidemic. An estimated half of newly infected people are among those under age 25(The Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic). It hits hard as it has no visible symptoms and can go a long time without being diagnosed until one is tested or before it is too late to manage.
