Jasper Newton Daniel was born in 1848 as the tenth child of thirteen. At the age of 12 Jack Daniel started a career that would last him a lifetime. He was hired out to work for a man by the name of Dan Call, a preacher at a Lutheran church. At Mr. Call’s distillery he learned the trait of making whiskey. Three years later he and Mr. Call were full partners in the whiskey making business. Mr. Call was a dedicated Lutheran. Just after the civil war his family and church told him to make a decision between the church and his business of making whiskey. Mr. Call decided to go with the church. So Jack bought out his share of the business. Jack had found a perfect cave spring and bought 500 acres around it. Jack then moved his distillery to this location and over 130 years later the distillery stands here today.
In the rolling hills of southern middle Tennessee lies the city of Lynchburg where Jack was born and lived all of his life. This is the county seat of Moore County, which is Tennessee’s smallest county. This town, like most other small towns in middle Tennessee has a square for the hub of the town. One of the major structures here is the Courthouse. Back in 1885 people of Lynchburg built this structure with bricks made in the town. Now, my favorite item of historic relevance in Moore County is the Jack Daniel Distillery. This is at the same site Jack decided on in 1866. This is a National Historic site that has had its license since 1866. The quality Tennessee Whiskey goes through the same processes that it did when founded by Mr. Jack Daniel. To this day they are sticking by Mr. Jack’s motto: "Each day we make it, we will make it the best we can."
To help Mr. Daniel hold down the fort in Lynchburg he introduced the business to his nephew Lem Motlow. Mr. Motlow and Mr. Daniel kept the whiskey business going in high gear until the death of Mr. Daniel in 1911.He died from blood poisoning after he had kicked his safe when it didn’t open correctly six years ago. Lem Motlow then became the second head distiller. He kept the process the old fashioned way as his mentor had showed him in previous years. He was also a very respected businessman in Lynchburg.

Power relationships are represented in different ways in various texts dependent on the historical era from which the text is produced. Jasper Jones is a coming-of-age novel written by Australian writer, Craig Silvey in 2009. It follows the life of Charlie Bucktin, a thirteen year old resident of Corrigan, a rural mining town in Western Australia as he matures into adulthood. In order to protect Jasper Jones, the town’s ‘troublemaker’, he helps Jasper to dispose the dead body of Laura Wishart, the missing daughter of the shire president and struggles to keep this dreadful secret. Power relationships in this novel have been reflected, reinforced and challenged in their own context and my personal context through various narrative conventions. Racial power has been reflected in the text through the context in which the text is set. Sexual power has been reinforced in the contemporary context. Furthermore, in both the text’s context and my context, the idea of political power has been challenged.
To be named one of the top photographers of the 20th Century is a substantial credit on its own, but to do so with no formal training or background in the art is remarkable, yet accomplished by Philippe Halsman. It all started at the young age of fifteen, when Philippe would photograph friends and family with his father’s 9x12-cm view camera, developing the glass plate “miracles” in the family’s bathroom sink. Even in these early years, using rudimentary equipment, it was evident Halsman had a gift and would leave a definitive mark on the photographic industry. With his ability to capture the true spirit of the subject and his advanced technical abilities, his career was destined to be nothing short of successful (B. Johnson 180).
Davy Crockett, the celebrated hero, warrior and backwoods statesman, was born August 17, 1786 in a small cabin on the banks of Nolichucky River, near the mouth of Limestone Creek, which today lies about three and a half miles off 11-E Highway near Limestone, Tennessee.
In today’s world a DUIs can be classified as being under the influence on many different substances. The main and most deadly substance is actually the most legal. With more and more people dying every day this nation needs to open its eyes on the dangers of drunken driving and begin taking major steps to help prevent this awful trend come to a stop. Drunk driving is when a person consumes alcohol and tries to operate their vehicle while ossified. Today the legal limit is 0.08, but many people believed that it should be lowered or unacceptable to consume any alcohol while operating motor vehicles. Studies from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that 40% of traffic deaths in United States were a result of DUIs. Many suggestions were made to avoid the change of the legal BAC level such as decreasing the amount of underage drinkers, writing more laws to keep heavy drinkers off the road, or adding...
Brown and Bro. They originally sold whiskey in sealed glass bottles which was innovative in that time because most whiskeys were sold by the barrel. That is still a marketing tactic they use today, referring to being the first to bottle whiskey in an actual sealed bottle. Old Forester was their popular brand and has been continuously sold throughout the United States since 1870. Brown-Forman is also known for being one of the 6 companies producing alcohol, under the prohibition laws, to be granted a license to continue manufacturing whiskey for medicinal purposes. The others were Glenmore, Frankfort Distilleries, Schenley, American Medicinal Spirits, and A.PH. Stitzel Distillery. Brown-Forman’s marketing environment would be very aggressive just by their approach to keeping up with the times, the target audience is a large one, each brand they have in their collection has its own target audience, and a few of them specifically Jack Daniels can be geared towards multiple audience. For example, whiskey is popular around the world, whiskey can be broken down into other

Richard Drew was from the University Of Minnesota; unfortunately, he was a college dropout- who was working for a small sandpaper company that was founded in 1902. The small company was named the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, and was later known as the 3M. The word “Scotch” had its own little interesting story for itself, almost as interesting for the invention of the scotch tape.

Drunk driving affects all of us. Whether we like it or not, at some point a drunk
Statistics show that nearly eleven thousand deaths occur each year because of a DUI type of accident (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). Alcohol is used a depressant which reduces the activity in the nervous(“Alcohol”).The effects that drinking alcohol has on the body can either be short term, long term, or both. Alcohol disorients the brain and can cause blackouts, memory loss, and more if an excessive amount is consumed. You can find a number of communications and public service announcements surrounding the issue of driving under the influence of alcohol. Drunken driving videos, commercials, and radio advertisements can be found in many forms of media and almost on a daily basis. Many are focused on young adults facing pressure to drink. This is a very important topic especially in our high school settings. The one short video that caught my attention was told in a different perspective. It was told by a girl, who was a young adult, and was being responsible and decided not to drink at a party so she could drive home. On her way home she was hit and killed by a drunk driver who attended the same party. This was an extremely effective way to make the audience more aware and realize that drunk driving not only affects the drunk driver, but many innocent responsible bystanders as well. This is something that more people need to realize to stop this issue from taking any more innocent lives.
Although the safety of cars have improved over time, the same can't be said of their drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol still kills thousands of people every year on our roads and highways in spite of public awareness campaigns and law enforcement efforts. The first line of defense against becoming a victim of drunk drivers is knowing how to identify them on the road and applying the right defensive driving techniques.
Drunk driving has been a serious issue in the United States ever since the 1900’s. Driving during or after drinking alcohol is not only threatening for the driver themselves, but also threatening for the people around them. ”In 1980, 28,000 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes,” (Koch) “Drunken-driving deaths dropped to a record low in 1999, when “only” 15,786 people died,” (Koch). According to NHTSA, “10,497 deaths from alcohol-impaired-driving crashes in 2016,” ("Drunk Driving"). “Of the
