It’s the year 2050 and a young 15 year old boy named Jason Lenzmeier is walking down the streets of downtown Paris, France. Jason has green eyes and dirty blonde hair with a small scar on the top left hand side of his forehead from when he fell off his bike as a kid. He never really had a family because his mother died when he was 8 years old and his father suffered from depression and his father then gave him up for adoption believing that he couldn’t support him and that he would have a better life with him in it. He was adopted by a family in Paris and soon after he was adopted he ran away because he couldn’t stand the family because they were just the perfect family. They were the family that he never had and he never would have. As he’s …show more content…
On the way, Jason found out that the other threes names’ are Tom, Sam, and Samantha. After they had left the store, Tom said that he thought that he had overheard something on the news about concussions causing a new type of disease. As they were walking, carefully going from building to building, they saw a helicopter trying to retrieve a group of people from a building then the door on the top of the building burst open and out came at least 10 zombies. The helicopter didn’t see them until the were already on it and then the helicopter tried to “shake” them off by flying in the air but there was too many and the helicopter lost control and crashed into a building. After seeing that the group, went into a hotel and found whatever they thought would be useful. Jason found some food and baseball bat. Samantha and Tom found flares that were in the emergency box under the front counter. Lastly, Sam and Frank found an axe and a gun. The group then thought about what they should do, Jason said,”I think that we should stay here and try to protect ourselves”. Samantha and Tom both agreed with him. Frank thought we should try and get to the top of a building and use the flares to try and signal for someone to help them. Sam was very adamant that they should head to the Eiffel Tower because he thought it would be more safe there and that they would …show more content…
They all hid and looked out the windows and they saw that it was the French Armed Forces. They immediately ran outside to talk to them and ask them for help. They met up with them outside the hotel and asked the General what had happened and he said,”It’s called the concussion virus and anyone who has ever had a concussion in their life is at risk of turning into a zombie”. Tom responded by saying,”I suffered a concussion when I was four years old, I’m fine right?”. The General then motioned for his men to come forward and said to the Tom,”We will need you to come with us”. Before the General left he said,”If any of you suffer a concussion or know of somebody who has suffered a concussion tell them and their loved ones to keep an eye on them and hope for the best”. Tom then agreed to go with them and little did they know that was the last time the group would ever see Tom. The French Armed Forces declined to bring the group along for they said it was too dangerous. They then left with Tom and the group never saw them

Before this battle, the men are starting to feast on pig and some other foods. All of a sudden they realize that something is wrong because the observation balloons have spotted smoke from their chimney. Soon after, shells begin to drop on them. They race down to the house and feast for four hours. Outside houses are burning, shells are propelled down to the ground. In eight days the men are told to return. Only a few days later are they ordered to evacuate a village. While on their way, Kropp and Paul see people fleeing out of the village with distress, anger, and depression. Everyone is silent as the two walk by them, even the children holding on to their mothers for moment, Paul feels a blow on his left leg. Albert is right next to him, and he cries out to Paul. The men scurry to a nearby ditch. They are hurt, but do the best that they can to run to another ditch. Albert is straggling behind, and Paul helps him to continue by holding him up. They reach the dug-out where Paul bandages up Kropp’s injury, a bullet for an ambulance to be taken. The ambulance picks them up, and they are given an anti-tetanus shot in their chests. When the dressing station is reached, Paul and Kropp make sure that they are lying next to each other. The surgeon examines Paul and tells someone to chloroform him. Paul objects to this order, and the doctor does not do it. The surgeon takes out a piece of shell, and puts Paul in a plaster cast. The two are brought on the train, Albert develops a high fever so he needs to be taken off the train at the next stop. In order to stay with his friend, Paul fakes a fever and they reach a Catholic Hospital together. Paul is operated on and recovers faster than Kropp. His leg is amputated, and he later goes to an institute for artificial limbs. Paul is called back to his regiment and returns to the front.  parts, or lost body parts, and they are thankful that it is not them who are in danger of dying. By receiving injuries, Paul and Kropp experience the war from a different perspective.
Joel confusedly looks around and behind him he sees a scared Sarah shaking him awake, Tommy just outside of the truck, and directly in front of him, he sees a family being attacked by somebody infected, which jolts him awake and back into reality. With the car now being sideways after the crash, in order to get out, Joel uses all his strength and starts to kick the windshield in front of him until it shatters. Joel carefully crawls out then reaches in for Sarah, avoiding the shards of glass on the ground and still bordering the windshield. Just as she starts to climb out and stand up, she falls over and complains that her leg hurts. A noticeably worried Joel grabs his revolver from his jean pocket then hands it over to Tommy and demands he protect them. Joel picks Sarah up and with her in his arms, they begin running for safety. As Joel sprints through the streets with Sarah in his arms and Tommy just a few feet in front of them, chaos erupts everywhere. In any given direction, there are either citizens or infected individuals dashing through the streets, with dozens of people being attacked along the way. In addition, there are explosions and many cars accidents with one car even driving straight into a gas station, causing it to blow up. Sarah at one point looks at the gas station then alarmingly utters, “those people are on fire,” to which Joel tells her not to look, prompting her to close her eyes and

In Springfield, Missouri, a 9-year-old boy named Tristan sold $18,000 worth of lemonade, cookies, and bottled water to raise money for his adoption. Tristan was born to a 15-year-old girl who became a drug addict and neglected Tristan, so Donnie Davis took him in. Davis’s previous husband was the father of Tristan, so she temporarily took custody to help the struggling mother, but after the drugs and neglect, she wanted to legally become Tristan’s mother. The adoption was going to cost the Davis’s about $15,000, and they met their goal after news of Tristan’s story and his lemonade stand leaked on social media. The Davis’s have had the adoption approved, and as a celebration, Tristan is going to get to see his favorite basketball player, Kevin Durant, play in Oklahoma City. Due to Tristan’s years of abuse, Tristan was diagnosed with PTSD and a sensory processing disorder, but he now has medications and doctors and teachers to help him.
As a child Dave Pelzer was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother; a mother who played tortuous, unpredictable games that left one of her sons nearly dead. She no longer considered him a son, but a slave; no longer a boy, but an 'it'. His bed was an old army cot in the basement, his clothes were torn and smelly, and when he was allowed the luxury of food it was scraps from the dogs' bowl. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare played out behind closed doors. Dave dreamed of finding a family to love him and call him their son. It took years of struggle, deprivation and despair to find his dreams and make something of himself. A Child Called 'It' covers the early years of his life and is an affecting and inspiration memoir of one child's determination to survive.
Many people grow up in loving families and cannot imagine not having their parents and siblings around, but each year, 18,000 or more American born babies are put up for adoption (Newlin Carney). That means at least 18,000 children face the harsh truth of maybe not having a family to grow up in. Childhood is a very important part of one’s life and helps shape who one is. These children that are eligible to be adopted just need loving parents, good homes, and stability. And who is to say the high price of adopting is not ho...
