QUESTION 1:
The sources that Jared Diamond uses to prove his points in the argument are writings of many participants as well as, Six of Pizarro’s Companions, which included, his brothers Hernando and Pedro. Yes, these are good historical sources for Jared Diamond to use in his Article. These sources are considered primary sources which are produced by a participant in or witness of the events you are writing about. A primary source allows the historian to see the past through the eyes of direct participants. Jared Diamond does not properly cite the sources within the text. He originally was trained in physiology, however, also practices within anthropology, ecology, geography, and evolutionary biology. Currently he is a professor at the University of California, in Las Angeles.
Because Jared Diamond had practiced within those various fields, and after extensive research, he wrote Guns, Germs and Steel, to argue that the gaps in power and technology between human societies originate primarily in environmental differences, and the Geographical influences on society and culture.

In Guns, Germs, and Steel, Jared Diamond explains why some societies are more materially more successful than others. He attributes societal success to geography, immunity to germs, food production, the domestication of animals, and use of steel.
