LOTF Compare & Contrast After reading Lord of the Flies and watching the movie I noticed some differences between the two. The boys in the book found the plane captain on the island when in the book there were no adults at all. There were more boys joining Jack at the beginning of the movie then there was in the book. Simon never had a conversation with the Lord of the Flies. When our class started discussing the differences between the book, and the movie one of the bigger differences I think we noticed and kind of laughed about is when Ralph and Piggy found an accordion. The strangest difference I believe between the book and the movie is that the movie added the airplane captain. It’s very odd that he was added he played no big role or any big part at all in the book there were no adults so why add him? The pilot couldn’t have been placed in for comic relief or his entrance would have been more funny. so he I have a theory that the man may have been added to make sense of the dead parachute man falling into the sea after the boys killed Simon. If the man was the parachute man that fell into the sea the director I would think would highlight the fact it was the man from before. Overall this man being added makes no sense it doesn’t follow the story nor does he play a big part in the story. …show more content…

Instead of the two clans splitting even like in the book the far vast majority of them followed Jack even the twins didn’t stay with Ralph. The twins where the last two boys that stayed with Ralph of there own free will to the end of the book but halfway through the movie they leave him for Jack. When the twins left that is where the movie said there was no one civil left besides Piggy and Ralph, when in the book they tried to stay with him to the end showing that there was still some hope for civilization to
