The novel has many situations where the determination is an unseen reason for glory. In chapter. 4, page. 90 Billy thinks that God had helped him chop the big sycamore tree down. But Billy doesn't know is that it was his determination that helped him chop the tree down to achieve his goal. This has to do with why determination is an unseen reason for glory because Billy has so much faith in God that he doesn't realize it was him who cut down the big tree. Also on ch. 3, pg. 27 Billy says,” I knew he had surely helped for He had given me the heart, courage, and determination. Yet again, Billy doesn't realize it is him who is doing all the work. Also, it is him who has given himself the stamina to keep going.
