Teen Moms Have you realized how many teen pregnancies there are in just our generation alone? In 2013 a total of 273,105 babies were born to girls 15-19 years of age, in just the United States. At the age of 15 girls should not even be thinking about having a baby, considering the fact that a 15 year old girl is still considered a child. The main reason why I’m stressing about this topic is because one of my best friends recently had a baby last year at the age of 16. She found out that she was pregnant when she was 15, my mom and I were actually there when she found out. Just like every mom would be, her mom was so mad she couldn’t control her anger. It would be different if it was an adult, but instead it’s teenagers . The thing that frustrates me the most is some of the parents don’t even care if their teenager has a baby. If I came home and told my parents that I was pregnant, I would either get beat right there and then or they would wait 9 months until the baby was born, then beat me. Not only does the baby get affected but the mother does as well, sometimes the mother can’t produce something that the baby needs, which then creates problems for the baby. Some of these mom’s have a higher risk for pregnancy-related high blood pressure. Risks for the baby include premature birth and a low birth weight. Also, girls of that age are not developed enough to have a child yet so there is a higher chance that she will lose her life. Normally the kid who got her pregnant cannot provide for the child so he is just not apart in her’s or the child’s life or their lives will become worse because of it. If you can’t make sacrifices for your children, then you don’t deserve them. There are many adults that long to have children but are not able to. Having children is a privilege, not a right. Children should not be having children. But this is one subject that is widely controversial and continues to happen regardless. This is an epidemic that needs to
