The owner is embarrassed but the dog has no clue that he or she is being rude or impolite because they have not had the proper training. Many people, even those that are dog lovers tend to think that their dog will magically learn their manners as they grow and are astounded when they do not. Often dogs end up in shelters because of unruly behaviors because the owner did not take the time to train the dog properly.

Imagine a child that was never taught manners and had no clue how to eat their food with a spoon, fork, and knife. You have company over and your child begins eating with their hands, and you blame the child because he or she did automatically learn how to eat with utensils. Sounds crazy and no one would blame the child; the first people they would blame are the parents for not teaching the child to eat with the utensils.
