One issue could be an astigmatism which is a condition with the eye or lens having a distinct curvature. Images can appear not in focus. Another issue that could be present is called a nystagmus. This is caused by an uncontrollable movement of the eyeball. If they have problems keeping the eyes locked or following and object they could have a strabismus. A strabismus will make them appear crossed eyed and also give them issues with depth perception. Photophobia may be another problem causing them to be sensitive to light. If this is an issue sunglasses will help with this issue. (Turkington C. 2015). Keep in mind treatment does not exist for the missing amounts of melanin found in albinism. Eye problems can be treated but they cannot be cured. In most cases glasses will be required maybe with some tint to help from too much light entering the eyes. These children most likely will have low vision or some sort of visual problems, so the parents will need to learn how to interact with their baby. Avoiding eye contact for a couple of months may be necessary. The parent will have to accept that their baby and young child may have to wear sunglasses and a hat when being outside. The parents will need to get used to their child viewing a book or watching television from just a few inches away. Even when describing figures or other things to your child you will need to be sure to use language that describes what it is you are talking about. Your child will not have ease with accomplishing task that are visual. Even most hobbies will present a challenge. Certain forms of albinism are more common in some populations. Most common form of albinism is OCAZ and is found in one in 36, 0000 Caucasians in the United States. There are four types of albinism; type 1 is characterized by white hair, very pale skin, and light colored eyes. Type 2 is less severe their skin is usually a creamy white color and their hair could be a light yellow, blonde or light brown. Type 3 has a form of albinism called “rufous oculocutaneous albinism” this usually affects dark-skinned people. They have reddish-brown skin, ginger or red hair and hazel or brown eyes.
