Industrial Revolution There are infinite things in the U.S. that has put an impact on the way we live and strive as human beings. There also has been things in the U.S. that has taken a toll on the way we live. The Industrial Revolution is one thing that has changed America forever. Several things were changed and invented during the nineteenth century. These things are what shaped our nation to better our economy and industries. During the Industrial Revolution America boomed from the amount of product we made a minute, to the advanced technology we formed. Railroads were first invented in Great Britain by a man named George Stephenson. The first railroads in the U.S. were bought from Stephenson Works in England (ushistory.org). Railroads were extremely important because it was a way to trade and take exports out in a very easy, efficient manner. The new railroads were also critical to westward expansion. Trains were a very simple way to transport people out west to start new lives and expand the nation. Without railroads we basically still would not know what great things the west had in store for us. Canals and steamboats were another huge turning point in American history. Robert Fulton created the first ever steamboat engine in 1807. Though many people doubted him, his work was victorious and got him very rich. At first these steamboats were only used in the main rivers. Later on the greatest breakthrough of water travel in history formed. Canals began to be dug strictly to move cargo up and down them all across the U.S. (education-portal.com). Some of these new weapons allowed so many more new battle techniques happen. Before the revolution men literally had swords and horses to fight with. The new technology brought things like the musket, cannons and the rifle. Muskets were the first guns built that had a long smooth bore. The ammunition included led balls, and ignition systems that included matchlock, flintlock and finally caplock models (enotes.com). Later rifles were invented that had an extremely better accuracy, but unfortunately was harder to load than muskets. Cannons were also a famous new weapon. These cannons were usually behind the lines of attack in battle. The cannons were made of bronze and fired round cast iron balls (saburchill.com). Much later on the amazing invention of the mini ball was formed. The mini ball was a new kind of bullet that changed war forever. This bullet was conical and was mainly used during the civil war. This was a major tactic and literally tore bones, flesh and muscles apart. Clearly the new artillery was a major advancement in the Industrial
Industrial Revolution was really the turning point in the history of the United States. It is the reason why this country is now populated with different races. This is also the reason why America is considered as the most powerful country in the world. From the insights of the three different books mentioned, it all comes from one great conclusion, that the Industrial Revolution promotes freedom to people which makes the United States what it is today: a country with a lot of faith and strength of purpose.
As the need of human transportation and various forms of cargo began to rise in the United States of America, a group of railroads with terminal connections along the way began to form across the land mass of this country, ending with the result of one of the most influential innovations in American history, allowing trade to flow easily from location to location, and a fast form of transportation, named the Transcontinental Railroad.
Steamboats were invented in the early 1800's, but it took until the 1820's to make them a common site on U.S. rivers. In the 1840's their popularity kept rising as they continued to increase the amount of trade possible. The reaper, for farming, was also developed in 1831. This allowed more farming in the west on the prairies. Many other farming machines were also developed during this time period, they all made farming in the west much more popular, easier, and profitable. The Trans-continental railroad was started in 1862, even though other trains were already running in different parts of the U.S. The telegraph also went up along with the railroads, although the first time it was used was in 1844. All four of these major technological advancements made the United States really get going on their Manifest Destiny.
The railroad played a major role in forging the history of many countries including the United States of America. The railroad began to bring people to places that before then where only accessed by weeks of dangerous travel over harsh and deadly terrain. The industrial revolution had ushered in a completely new era. The new era was one of mass production, supply and demand, and new requirements of industry. The growth of industry had created new demands for transit, trade, and more robust supply lines. The railroad boom across the U.S. had spread and proceeded to grow the economy quickly therefore, many people began using the rail roads just as quickly. The rail market continued to grow and by the 1860’s all major cities within the United States were connected by rail.
The Industrial Revolution has brought a major transformation to the American society. New technologies and advancements changed the way Americans viewed their world. Gender issues, social class, immigration, relations with Native Americans, and slavery were either positively or negatively impacted by the revolution. Nevertheless, the United States’ huge step toward progress during the Industrial Revolution made a lasting impression in American society.
America had a huge industrial revolution in the late 1800”s. Many changes happened to our great nation, which factored into this. The evidence clearly shows that advancements in new technology, a large wave of immigrants into our country and new views of our government, helped to promote America’s huge industrial growth from the period of 1860-1900.

Railroads brought social, economic, and political change to the country (Stover 26). In the United States a turnpike era and then a canal era had immediately preceded the coming of the railroads, which proved to be fast, direct, and reliable in all weather. After 1830 the railroads grew so quickly that within a decade their mileage surpassed that of the canals (Hollingsworth 28).
Throughout history there have been many important revolutions that have help to shape society as it is today. There are different causes, from political to religious, economic to social. Any revolution affects those in society, and creates changes for the people in the society. There are three important revolutions that took place in the late 18th century that changed the world for the better. The French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution all took place in the late 1700s. Although each had a different purpose, they all lead to a better way of life for many. The French and American Revolutions are examples of some which are brought about and enforced solely by the people. Although they had different reasons behind them, both had the same idea behind them- social change. The Industrial Revolution was different, it was a technological revolution which had positive social outcomes. While one can easily compare the French and American Revolutions because of their social causes and outcomes, the Industrial Revolution can only be compared to the other two when examining their outcomes.
