“Strength Through Joy”: “Strength through Joy” (Kraft durch Freud in German) was a state-ran leisure organization during the Nazi’s reign in Germany led by Robert Ley. The organization was part of the German Labour Front, and its role was to promote National Socialism to middle-class workers. The organization made National Socialism appealing to the middle classes by making activities available to them that had only previously been available to the leisure class (i.e. Cruises, ski trips). “Strength through Joy” gave middle class workers vacation time, access to affordable cars, and even sick leave. The organization was extremely popular as “Strength through Joy” had about 30 million workers as members by 1936. The organization was veiled as a populist program created to elevate the working class’ status; however, the program’s purpose was to promote the Nazi party by catering to the
Moral evil was an issue that weighed heavily on the minds of the people of the Medieval period. Philosophers and poets alike attempted to address and understand the problem of moral evil, scrutinizing the roots of evil and the effects of evil on the body and, more importantly, on the soul. Of the philosophers that the period produced the views of St. Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, and Boethius on the problem of evil are perhaps the most notable. From the literary side of the spectrum, the problem of evil is addressed heavily in Beowulf.
Social psychology is a scientific study that studies how people think, feel, and how they behave under the influence of other people (Aronson, Wilson & Akert, 2013, p. 2). Thinking about what social influence really means, we tend to think of a person who tries to persuade another person to acting a certain way. It can be a form of peer pressure, like taking that first puff of a cigarette, or it can be conforming to popular societal views, such as obeying the law of the land. Fiction is a great way to learn about social psychological perspectives. Watching popular theatrical films is the perfect way to learn because it illustrates the application of many perceptions within the subject of social psychology.

The emotional health and wellbeing for our children should be the greatest importance to a parent. Four million children and adolescents in the United States live with serious mental disorders (Hamburg, 2006). Some conditions include depression, anxiety disorders, which are the most frequent that may later on lead to drug abuse. Some develop eating disorders that include bulimia and anorexia, others develop attention deficits, become hyperactive or antisocial behavioral responses that may limit the ability to think and learn and form social attachments or communicate with others. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health disorders are one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Three of the ten leading causes of disability in people between the ages of 15 and 44 are mental disorders and the other cases are often associated with mental disorders and research has shown that most mental disorders begin in childhood and in adolescence (2009). Poor mental health can have an effect on wider health and development of adolescents in associations with social outcomes such as higher alcohol, tobacco and illicit substances, pregnancy, school dropout and even the act of wrong behaviors of a child.
The Importance of Being Earnest, written by Oscar Wilde, pokes fun at the Victorian earnestness with sarcasm. The first piece of wit shown by Mr. Wilde is in the subtitle when he writes, “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People.” He continues to make general quips and witty remarks throughout the play, all the while prodding at the Victorian people. Mr. Wilde’s purpose of writing this play is to show how strict society is, how superficial everyone is in society, and how certain individuals do not agree with their society.

Joy and Sadness are the leaders in the film. Joy is the first emotion to appear inside Riley’s brain when she is born. Joy is the clear leader of the other emotions with Sadness emerging as a distant second. She tries to keep everyone moving, focused and sets the goals for the team. Even after the other emotions appear, Joy remains Riley’s primary emotion throughout the movie. Sadness wants to be optimistic and helpful in keeping Riley happy, but she finds it so hard to be positive. “Sometimes it seems like the best thing to do is just lie on the floor and have a good cry.” Sadness was the second Emotion to take hold in Riley 's mind, appearing a half a minute after Joy. Afterwards, she tended to be more on the outs with Sadness. Joy does
What is school spirit and what does it mean to you? What exactly is school spirit? Do you believe that your school has enough school spirit? Do you think it is biased between different sports and the boys and girls? Also, do you think you school community as a whole shows enough spirit? (53)
The skills a child learns throughout their first couple years of school are essential because they are the foundation for the rest of their education. Although preschool is not mandatory, this is where many young children first develop any sort of social and emotional connections. Now away from their parents and put in a new environment, social-emotional development can affect their behavior in school. Lily Sanabria-Hernandez (2007-2008) finds, “that children whose parents participated in the Peers Early Education Partnership made significantly greater progress in their learning than children whose parents did not participate." Sanabria-Hernandez points to the idea that we as parents are responsible to be active in our child’s education and
“The point of drama is to challenge society's prejudices and expectations.” To what extent do you agree with this statement, in relation to A Doll's House and The Importance of Being Earnest?
Discuss the social psychological approach in psychology and identify the kinds of questions that social psychologists attempt to answer.
We start by defining both the term and the concept of social psychology. Social psychology is the study of how the conscious and unconscious mind interacts to influence our behaviors, emotions, and thought processes. The concept of social psychology allows us to understand how people react when there is an actual or implied presence of another individual and/or group. Society has a large influence over human behavior. Things such as peer pressure along with parental influences, in-group versus out-group bias, group dynamics, and the implied and/or actual presence of personal principles play a large role in how one functions in everyday life. Each of these moving factors according to Marcus Aurelius are merely stepping-stones to the path

More often than not kindness is mistaken for manners in the world we live in. The level of awareness a person has of kindness may determine the outlook he or she sees. Some say that kindness is scarce in the world we live in. The way people perceive kindness depends on his or her outlook on life. A positive outlook on life helps to determine how ubiquitous kindness actually is. This becomes helpful when trying to notice kindness in everyday situations.
