The information and communication technology (ICT) revolution has widely affected every domain in human life in the last decades. Hence, using the computer has become an important tool in the teaching and learning process. It plays a remarkable role in learning and teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). Therefore, it is very important to prepare the new generations with the computers and its applications. Thus, the value of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has been increased in education. According to Al-Menie (2008) "Word processors, for example, are excellent tools for students who may have trouble organizing their thoughts and then retaining those thoughts through correct spelling and grammar to convey their messages and present their ideas tidily." (p.4) Hence, it can be said that the word processor is an application, which can be considered as a valuable tool in teaching /learning writing. It is not only used as a facilitating tool, it motivates, increases the students ' confidence, and gives them the time to practice their skills in writing. This research sheds the light on the word processor as an effective tool and Saudi EFL students’ attitudes towards it in EFL writing classes, in addition to the possible barriers that may hinder their use of the word processor. The impact of the word processor on writing skills has been interesting for many researchers. Students ' writing performance, achievement, and their writing quality have been widely investigated in various studies.
