While trying to sleep on the public transit, you can hear many conversations of other passengers that surround you. Society should regulate sleeping on public transit more so that sleeping in public is perceived as acceptable. When you are tired, you should allow yourself to rest your mind, thoughts, and body. This inhibits social interaction when people sleep while taking public transit although it is not always comfortable sleeping in public.

Some people believe that you should only fall asleep in your own bedroom and not in public because some people snore and it may disturb people around them. People view the public, as you should behaviour properly, be well dressed, well groomed and be put together rather than being sloppy and scruffies. For example, if you were to dress like a slow at a mall, the security would be on a surveillance watch and if you were to cause a scene they would remove you from the mall because they believe you are causing a disruption and not safe to the public. It inhibits the social interaction between people because it shows they are disinterested in society and people around because people want to keep to themselves. The political significance of sleeping in public transit is people and government opinion of sleeping in public transit means. If they understand or believe it is acceptable. Saetnan et al. talk about “problem: popular press, law, government policy debates present privacy as individual/personal rather than a social value “(Saetnan et al. 2004, 698). For example, if someone of power falls asleep in public, the society would react in a different way as there will be memes or videos of them falling asleep and they would receive a lot of backlashes saying they are not doing their jobs and it is not acceptable. Whereas anyone else who falls asleep in public it is acceptable and people automatically know “oh, they must be tired”. The economic significance of sleeping in public transit is when companies put up advertisements to sell their products on the public transit. If everyone were to fall asleep, they would not pay attention to what is happening around them and would not see advertisements from different companies trying to send out their messages. They would lose out on a lot of customers if they were trying to promote a product. Passengers
