I am interested in pursuing an MBA at this point in my career to better prepare myself as I transition out of the military in the near future. A MBA from GWU will further define the leadership and managerial skills I have already learned inside the United States Air Force. In addition to an MBA, my past experience with managing people inside very harsh climates and physically and mentally challenging scenarios will set me apart from others in the career path I choose. Earning an MBA has always been a dream of mine, but one I never thought would be attainable because of the constant deployments and the financial requirements it takes to obtain an MBA. Fortunately, right now in my life I’m in a position where these conditions do not exist because …show more content…
GWU is also a very military friendly school. I know this because I have spoken to a few members of the armed service who attended GWU and they all spoke highly of GWU. So to have the opportunity to pursue an MBA degree online from a school that promotes academic excellence was a huge reason why I am applying. GWU is also located in an area that will give me many opportunities to network with people in the Washington, D.C area including the opportunity to learn from influential speakers that can further mold me into a better leader. I’m specifically applying to be accepted into an MBA program with a concentration in consulting. My career in the Air Force has exposed me to multiple scenarios, setbacks, and achievements. These situations have intrigued me to pursue a civilian career in consulting. I am currently the lead consultant for the Commander of the Component Maintenance Squadron on all deployment requirements and logistic planning. My ability to remain attentive and alert in many environments has produced exceptional results for my team as well as myself. So I believe an MBA with a concentration in consulting will be an acute tool for my future career choice once I transition out of the
Looking to the future, post-MBA, I will enter a new phase of my military career, transitioning from a company grade officer to a field grade officer. With that shift come higher echelon positions, significantly greater responsibilities, and a distinct need for a strategic mindset and skills. My short to mid-term goals are to have successful commands at the battalion and brigade levels. In the long-term, post-military, I want to start an organization focused on bringing military veterans and children with one or no parents together; providing a productive and fulfilling activity for the veterans and a positive male and/or female role model for the children.
My first goal after passing the Board of Certification exam for Athletic Training in April is to earn my Master’s degree while working as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Training department. In order to make sure that I am successful with my first goal, I am applying to over 25 schools across the nation. I have reached out to various athletic trainers in all different settings in order to make the connections needed to earn a Graduate Assistant position. I have attended Seahawk leadership conferences held on campus to build my leadership skills and I have held, and am currently holding, leadership positions in the other organizations that I am involved in on campus. I have earned supplemental experience in athletic training by working with the Wilmington Sharks, working as a camp counselor and lab assistant at the North Carolina Student Sports Medicine Symposium, and working with the UNCW Soccer youth camps over the summer. I also work to attend

Is it necessary to have a college degree before having the opportunity to experience the dream career of your choice? Depending on what background you came from, there are different reasons why we go to college. Most of us go due to career change/job position, increase our intellect/knowledge, not to be stigmatized, playing as a role model either to our children or even someone that we care of. In his essay, “A College Education: What Is Its Purpose?” Andrew DelBanco mentioned the three reasons college still matters which are: Economic (A college degree has replaced the high school diploma as “the minimum requirement into the skilled labor market.”), Opportunity (Our democratic form of government requires an educated

My academic experience includes State University as well as University of Phoenix. However, my experience at Phoenix earned me an MBA with a 3.61 GPA and I believe this experience proves my ability to survive a rigorous master’s degree program. It was an intense weekly program with weekly presentations, papers and extensive reading. The intensity of the program challenged my intellect and abilities and it was great preparation for Yale’s MPS program.
My decision to enroll in college has been one that I have been pondering for the last three decades. During my last year of high school, I met a friend who was surprised that was not planning on enrolling at the local community college. As I've matured and joined the United States Marine Corps, I had an opportunity to start my college journey. Surprisingly, that was in 1978. From 1978 to 2009 my journey took me to my midpoint and I received my Associates Degree. The thrill of receiving that Associates degree motivated me to start on my undergraduate journey. There were several reasons why I decided to start this journey in addition to the thrill and it ranges from making new friends, preparing for new career, learn new skills, and most importantly to increase my knowledge. That is why I decided to enroll at American Military University in pursuit of my undergraduate degree in Emergency Management (EM) and Preparedness.
An internship defined as a formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession. It’s easy to learn about something in the classroom and take a test on it and move on; but when you actually do the work in the real life, you see that you do not understanding all and how much more you need to learn first. My internship was at ArroGen Advance Forensics; and the internship gave me a lot more than just experience. While I was there I performed many different tasks and learned lots of skills.
Academic advising plays a huge role in students’ lives and it is a share responsibility between the student and their advisors. There are many ways in which advising benefit students. Advising enhance students’ abilities to utilize the resources that colleges provide for their students. Although the advising office and the advisors lack several skills, such as good communication, not enough time spent with students, and limited knowledge. However, there are many positive effects of having advisors
My long term career goal is to found my own financial company that specializes in applying advanced analytics tools to solve complex financial problems. Having worked as a financial analytics analyst for more than 6 months at Enova Financial, a Chicago-based consumer online financing company, my passion towards financial analytics is reinforced. Ranging from basic data query and reporting to predictive modeling and optimization, data analytics has assumed a more important role in today’s financial services industry. Mastering data analytics could help financial institutions acquire the relevant information in the shortest amount of time and make the informed decisions thereafter. Since personal loan industry is only the niche of financial services, I would like to broaden my horizon of the financial knowledge by gaining a deeper understanding of its principle and its application in order to achieve my loan term goal. Entering a full-time master in finance program, as such, becomes the best option for me.

The further education in today’s modern world is extremely important because of the sheer competition for jobs. An MBA significantly increases the hiring opportunities and improves a persons career choices significantly. My research found that a number of huge companies actually required an MBA to even get a first interview. The MBA teaches different techniques from companies and the undergraduate degrees, so you learn skills that are essentially very much exclusive to graduate business programs. It is clear that the MBA degree is sought by Finance companies as currently JP Morgan, Chase, HSBC and Wells Fargo currently offer sponsorships for employees to continue their education if they work for the company for a certain period of ti...

After looking at hundreds of schools, thinking about multiple factors of schools, I finally picked the University of Washington-Seattle as my first choice for transferring. The TEP (Transfer and Education Plan) helped me through the process of exploration. By doing the interests test on WOIS, meeting with an academic advisor, attending transfer fair, and making the concept maps, I found out that I was sure to major in business, therefore the Foster School of Business would be where I would go. Business major requires a wide range of knowledge. Economics is a class that I have to take and I think might be difficult. Online tutoring will be a good help for me. Although the UW is a school with high reputation, especially the Foster school is very hard to get in, I still want to
