Punctuation makes the meaning clear and shows how the sentence should be read. The sentence is complete by including every sentence at least a capital letter at the start, and a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark at the end. Every day we read and write a number of articles in newspapers, books, check mail, etc. Thus, we may not realize every point concerning the importance of punctuation. Punctuation allows us to avoid a failure to understand correctly and illustrate meaning, express our attitude to the opinions mentioned. In the beginning, the teacher taught students names of punctuation marks and their definition. Then he explained the types and uses of each mark with examples. i. e. what each mark does. Second group Another group was taught punctuation marks by the new method. This new method involved using colours. The teacher used specific colours instead of punctuation marks in his examples. After that the teacher gave a paragraph to the students in which specific punctuation marks have been replaced by specific colours. The students then were asked to read the paragraph and then asked to write the right punctuation marks in place of the colours. Also the teacher associated the meanings of colours in traffic signals in the roads with the function of same punctuation marks. state different forms of text and go on to talk about each one and how it applies to manipulation
Michaela Cullington, a student, wrote a paper “Does Texting Affect Writing?” in 2010 for an English class. The paper is an examination of texting and the belief that it negative effective student’s writing. Cullington goes into detail about textspeak- “language created by these abbreviations”- and their use in formal writings. She organizes the paper in a way that is confusing to understand at first (pg. 1). At the end of the paper, she discusses her finding in her own research which comes to show that texting does not affect writing. But this is contradicting to the information she received from the teachers. The students and the teachers were seeing differences in the use of textspeak in formal writing. Cullington has good support for her
The novel's dialogue and monologue alike manage to relay the feel of natural speaking such as "I mean you'd be different in some way - I can't explain what I mean. " The contractions “you'd” and “can't”, since they are common in everyday language, establish a very common and simple tone. Stress on the first syllable of "different" reinforces the tone by demonstrating how typically they speak. He uses dashes for pauses and the signaling of associative digressions. Instead of signaling pauses, commas are used only where mechanically required.
The authors noticed and accent that creating the templates, did not just help the students to turn what they have learned into well written, well organized texts, but it also drew the students attention, subconsciously, to the eloquent patterns that are fundamental but rarely perceived by the students.
When constructing a piece of writing, a student may sometimes find herself struggling to remember grammar rules or style principles. A handy reference guide would help her out immensely. William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White’s book, The Elements of Style, and Joseph Williams’ book, Style: Toward Clarity and Grace, assist writers improve their work in various ways. Strunk and Whites’ book took a simple approach, while Williams went more in-depth, with elaborate explanations and varying choices for each writing style.
Contrary to popular conceptions of the term ‘style’, I have found that in the context of this class, as well as in the context of the books “Style Toward Clarity and Grace” by Joseph M. Williams and “The Elements of Style” by Strunk and White, that ‘style’ is not style in the sense that it is the way I write (in such as way as ‘everyone has their own unique style’). Style encompasses many elements to writing a cohesive, clear paper. However, I feel that in order to write a clear cohesive essay or paper, I must write in my own way, a way that I am familiar with. This may seem like it goes against something that would be in “The Elements of Style,” but it is not. Strunk and White clearly say in their book, “Write in a way that comes naturally.” (Strunk and White, 70).
Some of the most essential elements of style are those that deal with commas. How to use a comma and where to place one can be quite confusing at times. With Strunk and White’s chapter 1 on Elementary Rules of Usage, they go into detail with examples for writers to better understand the usage of commas.
In my native language, we do not have too many rules for writing. Writing in my native language isn’t as strict with punctuation and grammar rules. For example, in English we have to follow all the rules in our writing such as punctuation, period, and etc, but in Farsi those rules are not so important. The main point of a paper is to give the idea to the audience. In English college writing, in addition to give the idea, the author should follow every rule, and that is the reason why English writing is hard for none native
Joseph M. Williams’ book, on the other hand, elaborates in detail of te guidelines and principles for writing the English language clearly and concisely. Each of his systematic principles for good wiring are padded with an abundance of example and explanation. Joseph Williams’ acknowledges this in his preface: “you should understand this is not an afternoon read. We offer detailed ways to put into specific practice the clichés of style ‘Be clear’ ‘Omit needless words’… We suggest you read this book a short section at a time, and then look at your won writing the writing of others” (Williams xiii).
The purpose of this essay will be to examine which writing system is more desirable, semanto-phonetic writing or alphabetical writing. In order to get better understanding in this thesis statement, semanto-phonetic writing and alphabetical writing should be broadly defined. Alphabetic writing systems represent the phonological structure of the language while the symbols used in semanto-phonetic writing systems often represent both sound and meaning. Semanto-phonetic writing is more desirable than alphabetical writing because its advantages are more than that of alphabetical writing. This essay will express four main advantages of semanto-phonetic writing, including able to be understood across time and space, greater aesthetic interest and easy to read. To make it more specific and clearer, Chinese writing would be taken as example of semanto-phonetic writing to compare with English writing, which is an example of alphabetical writing in this essay.

Each person carries things with them, whether it’s a purse, or a backpack, or a slim wallet slid into their pocket.
