Why is fashion stylist important? That’s the question asked by many people throughout the fashion world. Fashion stylist has the job of selecting clothes for publishing editorial features, advertising campaigns, and styling people who may need to be dressed for an event or on a day to day basis. The stylist are more commonly known for the dressing of celebrities in the finest fashion couture and doing so by putting them in some of the biggest designers in the world such as Versace or the wonderful brand of Coco Chanel. The stylist is doing this for big red carpet events like the Grammys, Emmys, and many more these events are more valued on what you wear them what you won in the world of fashion. It doesn’t matter which of these are happening, but these people have a say and what designer’s current season is going to thrive or parish simply because of the celebrity wearing them and who sees them in it. In the New York Times an article posted about Rachel Zoe says that “When Lindsay would wear Chanel, it would sell out in four hours” (HIRSCHBERG, 2007). Meaning that Lindsey Lohan and many more along with Rachel Zoe who has been responsible for creating many looks for her clients by dressing them in the most know designer’s clothes such as the Chanel Boy Bag or a Dior dress even down to the shoes which could be from Christian Louboutin and that it would have such a pull on people seeing or reading about these items that they would go out in buy them was very unheard of in the industry that it shocked many designers and caused them to begin to contact her hoping that they would be able to convince her that their brand had good clothing pieces and that she would like them so much she would be willing to put big names in the entertainment business …show more content…
Around this time most of the celebrity’s doing press for their movies were either dressing themselves or being dressed by the costume designers of their respected studios. Studios began to stop paying for these clothes and one of the first designers the stepped up to the plate was “Giorgio Armani, one of the first European designers with a stand-alone shop in Beverly Hills” (Grigoriadis, 2014). He dressed Richard Gere for an event and it was really the first time anybody had ever seen a designer do something like this. This was very well received in the business. We know this because “The next year, Armani dressed a dozen stars” (Grigoriadis, 2014). Once the 90’s came around “Other designers who understood the value of the red carpet early—Gucci, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Gaultier, Alberta Ferretti, and Carolina Herrera—began to enter the game, stars became overwhelmed with choices. Valentino’s first career within the industry was with couture atelier Jean dresses where he sketched any chance he got which showed his elaborate aesthetic. He meets extraordinary people during his time there and also designed one of his first solo creations. After five years at Jean dresses he leaves. Valentino has a brief job with friend Guy Laroche, in his small fashion house before moving back to Rome in 1959 to continue his fashion career independently with the backing of his parents. Valentino established his status amongst the elite of the Dolce Vita. In 1960 he met Giancarlo Giammetti in a coffee shop and one of the most significant partnerships in fashion was formed. Giammetti would become his partner in both business and life.

Fashion models are used mainly to promote products focusing mostly on clothing and accessory. The two main type of modeling in the fashion industry is commercial modeling and high fashion modeling. High Fashion models usually work for campaigns, designer’s collections and magazine editorials for high fashion designers. Runway modeling also known as “catwalk modeling” is displaying fashions and is generally performed by high fashion models. In my research paper, my main focus will be the multiple effects on high fashion models based upon the industry’s unregulated standards.
