1.0 INTRODUCTION
Computer-based information system (CBIS) is a computer which plays the major role and with it there are six components that support the process such as people, hardware, software, telecommunications, database and procedure. Each of these components plays their part in ensuring the system run as instructed. Along with those components, the basic requirement is power and/or electricity. This is because without electricity, there will be no process can be done.
People
People or information system personnel is the one who will manage, run, program and maintain the system and they are also will be among the end-user of the computer-based information system. They are the one who will decide whether the computer-based information system is a success or a failure. According to Bikson, et al. (1985), Cheney and Dickson (1982), and Porter (1987), computer-based information systems increased overall job satisfaction. It means that the CBIS is a success. However, the interactions between office-workers and clients, and the office-workers’ perceptions of their task environment and work-related wellbeing, were all affected by the type of system interface used as stated by Turner (1984). This is due to the depending too much on computerized system which has weakened an individual ability and challenging desire which means it is a failure.
Hardware
In implementing a computer-based information system, one of the components needed is hardware. Hardware is the equipment that we used in performing the necessary computations. Examples of hardware equipment are input devices; mouse, keyboard and etc., processor such as read-only memory (ROM) and random access memory (RAM), and output devices; printer, scanner and etc.. Procedure
A step by step regulation is also a procedure which is prepared to guide from A to Z or procedure can also be defined as set of actions which is carry out in certain way or order in accomplishing a tasks. Mostly, there are standard guidelines or also called as standard operating procedures (SOP) that is implementing in an organization in order for them to perform their tasks correctly. SOP can be a formal regulation that is used during workers performing informal activities. It can also the step by step rules in performing routinize tasks (computerized information system). Procedure or standard operating system is not a locked standard. It also can be alter depends on the needs which really required an alteration such as if there is special case happen.
The drawbacks to these types of programs are very few. They all streamline the processes of employee compensation, time keeping, benefit schedule and timeframes for evaluations for improving productivity. These chores used to be done by hand, filed by hand, and updated by hand, this could be, depending on the size of the company and the number of employees, a daunting task, expensive in and of itself. However, having said that these programs make an HR professionals’ life a bit easier, one would tend to think about those individuals in the workforce who are not computer literate and therefore may be unable to access such programs. It is true that time will correct this situation as most school age children today have learned computer literacy but until then a solution must be made available for this factor. Other than the problem of the computer illiteracy these programs are viable and a valuable tool to help in sust...
Asemi observe that Management Information System (MIS) is one of the information systems that is computer based. Besides, Asemi defines MIS as “an organizational method of providing past, present and project information related to internal operations and external intelligences. It supports the planning, control and operation functions of an organization by furnishing uniform information in the proper time frame to assist the decision makers,” (2011). The aim of MIS is to satisfy the general information need of the entire manager in an organization. Before the advent of computers, the process of decision-making was one that was full of built-in advantages and ad hoc methods. Computers technologies have changed the landscape of the decision-making process completely by making the process less demanding and easy to undertake. The reason for this situation is that information technology has made access to information more automated, efficient, effective, timely, and less ambiguous. Consequently, the ordinary t...
Working in today’s society has changed in the last few decades. The economy and technology are the main reasons for this change. The type of job and environment where one works has also changed. The fact that many people work from home via the internet has drastically changed the workforce and the environment surrounding it. With this change have come new demands, expectations, and opportunities for employers. Everyone deals with these demands differently, affecting the employee’s quality of life and job satisfaction. Though the job and office types and locations have changed over the years the need for job satisfaction has not. In today’s economy the job is not as stable as it used to be. One must be prepared for changes in the future.

During the past decade, the internet has revolutionized and changed the way organizations do business by offering rapid communication systems and enhanced information access and innovation of technological advancements have created a brave new workplace. Further, the internet enables organizations to decrease expenses, reduce product life cycle time, market goods and services more efficiently (Anandarajan et al, 2000). However, with these kinds of benefits, the internet provides employees with a technique
Computer hardware: With the on-going developments in the field of computer system design and architecture, peripherals and processors, hardware helps computing merge seamlessly into our lives. With primary memory capacity reaching up to more than 64 Gigabits, to high resolution LED-displays; hardware accommodates the ever increasing needs of ubiquitous computing.
An Accounting Information System (AIS) can be defined as software that helps accountants to collect data and process it to create information ((Bagranoff, Simkin and Norman 2010)
A computer is a combination of several parts. These parts are Random Access Memory (RAM), a Central Processing
In designing a computer system, architects consider five major elements that make up the system's hardware: the arithmetic/logic unit, control unit, memory, input, and output. The arithmetic/logic unit performs arithmetic and compares numerical values. The control unit directs the operation of the computer by taking the user instructions and transforming them into electrical signals that the computer's circuitry can understand. The combination of the arithmetic/logic unit and the control unit is called the central processing unit (CPU). The memory stores instructions and data.
In this report I will be going over the different parts and components which make up a basic computer system in detail, including parts such as the three box model and IO mapping.
Advances in technology have changed businesses dramatically, in particular the communication and information technology that are conducted in firms, which changed the appearance and pace of businesses over the past few decades. ICT in particular, has evolved a lot over the past 30 years; important information can be stored in computers rather than being in drawers enabling information to be transferred at a greater volume and speed (Guy, 2009). ICT has also expanded various forms of telecommunications and workload conducted in businesses, internet examples of this include: e-mails can be used to communicate with others...
The computer evolution has been an amazing one. There have been astonishing achievements in the computer industry, which dates back almost 2000 years. The earliest existence of the computer dates back to the first century, but the electronic computer has only been around for over a half-century. Throughout the last 40 years computers have changed drastically. They have greatly impacted the American lifestyle. A computer can be found in nearly every business and one out of every two households (Hall, 156). Our Society relies critically on computers for almost all of their daily operations and processes. Only once in a lifetime will a new invention like the computer come about.
The first topic I am going to discuss is information policies. But before I get into what exactly an information policy is I feel it is beneficial to talk about the information society to give us a better understanding on why these information policies are so important to us.
The late 20th century has successfully witnessed the boom of sophisticated technology, which gave birth to a wide range of technological outcomes, including computer technology. Computer technology, that is a skill to manage information, communicate and a kind of entertainment media, has become an important part in modern life at work, in recreation and social networking. Whether computer technology is better or not is a complicated issue. There are different arguments that need to be examined. Most people support that computer technology is better for individual lifestyles. It improves quality of working and study, provides a wide range of entertainment and is a wonderful tool of communication. On the other hand, others believe that computer
