While these sources of feedback have helped me to gain a better understanding into the person I truly am, three experiences have probably been the best indicators. These were: being unsat, being on restriction, and being a squad leader. As a plebe, I struggled mightily with academics. Balancing the plebe standards, and doing well academically was hard for me and my grades definitely showed this. However, I always maintained a positive attitude no matter how bad it got and tried mightily to correct the habits I had in place that were causing my academic troubles. This taught me that I wouldn’t quit when the going got tough, and that I truly did want to succeed here at this institution. Since, my SQPR has improved every single semester and is …show more content…
Specifically, Brigade Conduct Officer has come to mind. I’ve know the last two Brigade Conduct Officer’s (including the current one), and I feel as if I have a decent grasp of the job. I feel as if my strengths the fact that I enjoy being around people and specifically that I am compassionate towards them would definitely be beneficial to this role. The Brigade Conduct Officer needs to be somebody who is willing to fight for his/her fellow midshipmen. In addition, through my experience with the conduct system, I feel as if I have more to offer than the average midshipman. While on restriction, I thought about this and decided that it definitely might be an avenue I would be open to exploring. Glee Club President is another position I would be open to pursuing. I have a passion for singing, as it is something I have practiced since the 4th grade. It is my escape and I would love having the honor of leading those 60+ individuals next year as we traverse through exciting performances and opportunities. This would be beneficial for me because as Glee Club President you interact with the members very frequently and have to have decent people skills in order to be effective. My charisma and compassion would aid in this, along with the dedication I have shown in Glee Club. Furthermore, it would give me another opportunity to improve upon my organization and time management as well as my patience. Other positions I have considered are any battalion positions. For example, if Brigade Conduct doesn’t work out, then maybe Battalion Conduct would be the move. Or perhaps Battalion ADEO since I have experience with that as well. I know though, that I will need to find a position where I’m interacting with people on a daily basis and one where I have the opportunity to make a change within the Brigade. A situation where my inspirational and charismatic
As the incoming brigade commander, LTC (P) Owens, I see the critical leadership problem facing the 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) is the inability or unwillingness of Colonel Cutler to lead and manage change effectively. In initial talks with Col Cutler and in reviewing the brigade’s historical unit status reports, the 4th ABCT performed as well as can be expected in Afghanistan, but as the onion was peeled back there are numerous organizational issues that were brought to the surface while I walked around and listened to the soldiers of the 4th ABCT, in addition to reviewing the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) report. One of the most formidable tasks of a leader is to improve the organization while simultaneously accomplishing
FBLA has been such a defining point in my high school career and vital part in who I am today and even who I will be in the future. Becoming an officer would allow me to see to that other students that are new to FBLA also experience the same things as I have so that they could not only grow within FBLA but also in life. I hope to, as part of becoming a potential officer, that I can encourage others in FBLA as was done to me by older peers. Hopefully with this, we can have a large increase in membership and activity to improve our chapter.
The person that is next in command after the Battalion Commander is the Executive Officer (XO). The executive officer’s purpose is to help the Battalion Commander to run the whole program. The XO will also help the Battalion Commander send orders to the rest of the staff and cadets. The XO must be hardworking, well-rounded, firm, and responsible. I think that the position of XO would be a good fit for me because I possess these characteristics. I hope that I will be able to implement new ideas such as new clubs and programs to give cadets more opportunities to be involved in JROTC. I would also like to have guest speakers and recruiters come in and speak to the cadets about the different career paths that they can take. I think that obtaining
I feel I am a good candidate for NHS because I strive to be a leadership not just in school but everywhere. I also strive to be a good model for other students and friends. I have a young sister who repeats everything I do so it is important that I am a good role model. I have always been a person to take control of a situation or a project. I love putting down the foundations for group projects and assignments and building plans/strategies . Im very good with words and defusing situations.
My GPA is a 4.1000 and it teeters between 4.1500 and 4.1000. I haven't ever had a C and my grades are all A’s or A+’s. I also make sure I behave in class, so my work habits grades are also all A’s and A+’s. I’m consistently make sure that I keep my grades where they are and I always am striving for my best. If I do happen to get a grade I'm not fond of, I make sure that as soon as possible I get my grade back up to the desired A or A+. For instance, once I had a complex goal not met, so as soon as I could, I made sure I got my grade up. Now that goal is met and my grade for that quarter is A+. Even in the topics I don't enjoy as much, I make sure I work my hardest. I’m always trying to improve my grade with extra credits and 4.0 opportunities. This shows that I do meet the grade requirement for
...lly for me, also, even as a teacher, so I'm looking at either performing this role outside a school setting, or in a specialized school setting such as my previous placement.
I personally liked the Character Traits/Feedback assessment because I was able to determine my results without being told my character traits. It was challenging for me to select negative traits because I wanted to display myself in a positive light but I realized both positive and negative traits make me who I am....
Through hard work and commitment I have become a well-rounded leader beyond my age. I set goals and take pride in achieving them. This is evident in my involvement in the lives of my friends, community, school, and church. I serve through volunteer service, community outreach, and school involvement. I have been an audio and light technician for 9 years mixing audio for various school concerts, musicals, dramas, and other performances. I have donated more than 1,000 hours of community service into local organizations in the treasure valley since I was in middle school. I am currently a part of the National Honor Society chapter at my high school. I want to inspire others to serve without wanting to be recognized. I put into my classes what
The first assessment I completed was very eye opening for me as a leader. As expected, my score for the overall potential of my leadership was on the higher end of the scale because of my background and amount of experience I have in leadership positions. This assessment portrayed a very accurate depiction of my overall leadership potential because I have always placed emphasis on being very good at what I do while working hard to not follow a path that did not work the first time.
I have participated in the school’s marching band for four years has a member of the color guard. The last two years I have even earned a leadership position. From being in marching band, I have learned the ability to look for a bigger picture in things. For instance, something that may not seem clear now may take a true shape in time. I have also gained working experience through my two lifeguarding jobs from the last three years. I have learned how “size up” a situation and see how to properly deal with a problem. I have also learned, through both commitments, how to time manage myself and both achieve in activity/work and in school. I believe that through these experiences, I can bring a different perspective to the Honors Program’s community and help better it in any way possible.
The outcomes of the two assessments along with my own self-awareness give me plenty to think about. How can I better use my strengths to become a more effective leader, and what can I do to ensure that I am working on my shortcomings to continue
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).
I am about to introduce you to my “Leader of Influence,” the man who most shaped my understanding of the role of the Non-Commissioned Officer.
I find self-satisfaction in successfully completing one course after another I achieved a GPA of 3.90 upon graduation. . My academic experience has taught me to manage my time between my job, my family, and my academic quest. I am a well-organized person, and I take my goals seriously
... I needed improvement was my time management (2/10) But I would have never thought that my actions were causing my time management to be this bad. But to be truthful I do get sidetracked rather easily when I tell myself that I will be doing this one specific thing and then think “oh I’ll do this other thing and then get right back to it” which is never a good idea. But I didn’t know how much in fact these sidetracks were hurting me in my time management. My next two assessments show my preferences for organizational structure (69) and organizational culture (The Academy). Both of these results speak to a more so mechanically designed structure just like how we have it in the military and the culture speaks to how I value a culture in which is long term and you advance based on your functional expertise that is increased through career development and training.
