Pollution is one of the problem touching the African continent all in the name of existence. In defining pollution I can say it is the introduction of pollutants into the natural environment that causes an adverse change. Because of pollution African individuals are fronting lots of difficulties in their lives, troubles such as sicknesses. There are many types of pollution i.e.: air, land and water pollution. In explaining the above mentioned types of pollution, air pollution is the detoxification of our air by unsafe elements such as carbon monoxide and random particles. Water pollution, it can be well-defined as any chemical, physical or biological change in the excellence of water that has a dangerous consequence on any breathing thing …show more content…
Not only are human beings affected but also animals and plants. Air pollution might be most noticeable around our congested towns but the thin layer of air that envelops the Earth is polluted at several balances. It is contaminated indoors, locally, regionally, and globally. Smog sagging over cities is the most familiar and obvious form of air pollution. But there are different kinds of pollution some noticeable, some invisible that contribute to global warming. Normally some element that people present into the atmosphere that has harmful effects on humans and animals and the environment is known as air pollution.(Sarah …show more content…
Also, when soil in and close production ranges turn out to be unclean due to dumping of excess material, such terrestrial cannot be used for farming processes. Pollution is also caused by iron and steel mills; zinc, lead, and copper smelters; municipal incinerators; oil refineries; cement plants; and nitric and sulphuric acid plants. Soil pollution is mostly due to elements in herbicides (wild plant killers) and pesticides (toxins which kill flies and other invertebrate mice). Litter is unused material put in public places such as streets, parks, picnic areas and near shops. The addition of waste intimidates the wellbeing of individuals in housing areas. Waste decays, heartens domestic rascals and goes urban places into unappealing, unclean and unhealthy areas to live in.( (Michael
Human activity plays a moderate effect on global warming. Although we are major source of releasing carbon dioxide through cellular respiration, I do not believe it causes an imbalance in our atmosphere. The way humans do affect that imbalance is when deforestation takes place, and start building industrial plants, cars, etc. Think about the amount of industrial building all over the world that needs fuel to run and not to mention all the machinery that is used every day to construct and run
When we think of air pollution we think of the refineries in our cities and the exhaust coming from our cars mostly. In reality there are many more pollutants that we don't think about every day. The six most common air pollutants are; “Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides, Sulphur oxides, Particulate matter, Volatile organic compounds, and Ground-level ozone (nitrogen oxide and Volatile organic compounds reaction)”(David Suzuki Foundation). The fact is people are dying from air pollution and we are doing nothing to make it better, in fact air pollution is getting worse.
Pollution is causing the destruction of environments and habits resulting in many adverse affects. The types of environments that are heavily damaged by pollution is normally freshwater ones. Polluting factors such as untreated sewage, mining waste, acid rain, fertilizers and pesticides
One way that our health can be affected is due to the droughts that global warming can cause. With droughts our water supply becomes scarce. As a result, civilians can suffer from dehydration. Disasters such as: severe storms, wildfires, and flooding can cause health risks as well. These disasters cause by climate change can cause burns, drowning, broken bones, and other physical injuries. Pollution will add on more health risks. By polluting, we are “dirtying” the air that we breath. Although we do not know all of the long term effects of climate change, it is almost guaranteed that there will be even more health issues. Eventually the spread of diseases will also be more prevalent. Insects that can carry diseases such as mosquitos will not be dying off every winter if something is not done about emission of greenhouse
Presumably, people can have a big impact on the world around them. The goods they consume or put out into the atmosphere can be harmful to the Earth and cause the climate patterns to change. “Oil provides 40 to 43 percent of all energy used by the world. Oil and coal each account for 40 percent of global warming emissions from fossil fuels worldwide. In the United States, energy use accounts for 82 percent of our global warming emissions, with oil counting for 42 percent of those emissions” (The Price of Oil). Our consumption of energy is helpful yes, but it also has a negative impact on our environment when used in large quantities. Another negative contributor of greenhouse gas emissions is vehicles.
There are many kinds of air pollution. The ones I want to talk about are the ozone, acid rain, carbon monoxide and toxic air contaminants. Ozone is formed when hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide react in sunlight. Therefore, ozone is at its peak during hot summer days. Exposure to high levels of ozone can have serious consequences on your health. It can cause respiratory disease, loss of pulmonary elasticity, and premature aging of our lungs. Next, is acid rain, which occurs in the atmosphere in the form of sulfur and nitrogen oxide. These pollutants can have serious damaging affects on aquatic, forest and wildlife ecosystems, as well as deterioration of buildings. Carbon monoxide is another form of pollution. It reduces the blood?s ability to carry oxygen. If a human is exposed to higher levels, it can cause chest pains, angina attacks or even death.
One of the most dangerous environment issues Southern California is facing today is air pollution. This includes the burning of fossil fuels and natural disasters. Los Angeles is one of the most polluted cities in the world, and the most polluted city in the United States. I will research information about the causes, the effects, and the history of air pollution in the Los Angeles. For my research, I have relied mostly on, the school’s database and library, as well as current events.
The subject of global warming is as popular as the president. These both topics have always been hot subjects in everyday life. Global warming is the biggest storm headed in our way. It is also the most important issue of our times. Those ads or public service announcement on TV about global warming might not be the most attractive but the cause behind it is very important. Global warming is one of the major threats our planet is facing. Most scientists prove the fact that global warming is mainly caused by human activities rather than natural cycles. To simplify it, most mechanisms that we use are affecting earth. These mechanisms are created by humans. Therefore, humans are affecting earth.
Agricultural processes like maintaining a farm or plowing of a field, create another source of pollution. Farm equipment drive down dirt roads fumes and exhaust are emitted; dirt and dust is stirred up. Every year there is the allergy sufferers, dreaded almond harvest. The almonds are harvested and the valley becomes a dustbowl. Dust from farming contains a plethora of things: animal waste, minerals, pesticides, pollens, grains, Dust created from organic matter can contain fungal spores, toxins and bacteria.
Air pollution come about when gaseous particles, particulate matter, smoke or odor are introduced into the earth’s atmosphere in ways that make these particles harmful to living things. This harmful condition occurs because the air becomes unclean (Doršner, 2016). Some of the main air pollutants in Ghana include Dust (particulate matter), nitrogen dioxide, and Sulphur dioxide. The causes of air pollution include burning fossil fuels, agricultural practices that pollute the environment with pesticides, fertilizers and insectidies, mining operations, and exhaust from factories and industries (Dorsner, 2016).
Contamination of Water and Air. Urbanization enhances the proliferation of industries, automobiles, and agricultural practices. Most toxic air contaminants are produced as we endeavor to fuel our homes, automobiles, factories, energy production facilities, and might also be discovered in indoor cleansing mixtures, and construction supplies. Furthermore, pollutants found in gasoline, dry cleaning services, and paint thinners and strippers; some concentrations are presumed to cause cancers, or elevate other serious health risks. As a consequence these noxious air contaminants can be deposited in soils and water sources allowing them to be taken in by plants or swallowed by animals....
Air pollution according to the Wikipedia << is the introduction of particulates, biological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth’s atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment>>. Therefore, human being should be aware of the facts that the environment and all living creatures are dying. They need to understand the importance of natural items, the nature, etc…
Solid waste pollution will always be an issue as long as human population increases everyday .solid waste is not only cause by household only, the industries as well have hand on environment pollution. And due to improper disposal system solid waste end up on the road. Solid waste have a huge effect on human life and can also cause death in animals as well, as people clean their houses everyday litter their trash everywhere this problem will not stop. But the most dangerous waste are those coming from the industries, because those waste end up in stream, rivers where it poisonous and have bad impact on the marine life. Industrial waste are the source of toxic metal and hazardous waste that effect soil characteristic and productivity of soil when dumped in ground. And the problem lies where some of the waste do not decompose. These solid waste are hazardous, Pesticides poisonous which is not health and life threatening to both humans and animals. People are very much aware of recycling to reduce pollution yet they still fail in doing so. Silt build in freshwater water ecosystems, caused by the unnecessarily agricultural activities smothers aquatic organisms. To reduce solid waste they should be recycled in such a way that do not harm the both the environment, water, air and human health. There are animals such as
What is pollution? Pollution is a detrimental enemy to all species that walk on earth. It is a product of mankind carbon foot print on the environment. It consists of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. Pollution occurs when pollutants contaminate the natural surrounding; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. Pollutants are the key elements of pollution which are generally waste materials of dissimilar forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and the balance in the environment. With innovation and development in our lives pollution has reached its peaks; giving rise to global warming and human illness. When raw materials, water, energy and other resources
Pollution is a massive problem that the earth faces. Pollution is the action or process of making land, water, air, etc…, dirty and not safe or suitable to use. Pollution of air, water, and soil are the most complex issues. Various types of gases and toxins that are released by industries
