Recommended: Air pollution during the industrial age
Air consists of many gases like nitrogen, oxygen, inert gases in varying proportions. Besides it also has gases like hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxide etc. It is naturally clean and suitable for human and animal survival. But, due to industrialization there is rise in air pollution, which is not safe for breathe. So to avail clean air and keep up dust free breathing air condition and air filtration devices are used widely. Air plays a vital role in recycling one of Earth's most important substances: carbon. ... Animals and humans also release carbon dioxide into the air when they breathe. Through a process called photosynthesis, plants extract carbon dioxide from the air and use it to produce energy.

Carbon is important because you are a carbon-based life form and you need it to survive. Carbon sources include fossil fuel combustion, the decay of dead animals and volcanoes. Animals and humans also release carbon dioxide into the air when they breathe. Through a process called photosynthesis, plants extract carbon dioxide from the air and use it to produce energy. They also release oxygen during this process. When people and animals eat the plants, they ingest carbon and produce the energy they need to live. When they die, their bodies decompose, causing carbon to go back into the air as this endless cycle repeats itself. Lee,2017
The most obvious way humans use air is breathing it. Lungs take in oxygen from air and transfer it to the bloodstream for distribution to the rest of the body. Carbon dioxide is sent from the body back to the lungs where it is expelled from the body.
Air is vital to all living beings including plants & animals are dependent on air oxygen for generation of valuable life energy. Body cells take up oxygen from blood and generate energy from food in the form of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This biochemical generation of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a basic requirement to sustain life on

So air which gets heated on earth surface rises up and cold air from sea surface moves on to the earth surface thus minimizing the rise in temperature. Earth’s atmosphere helps protect you from X-rays, cosmic rays and other particles that bombard the planet. Earth’s ozone layer helps reduce the amount of harmful ultraviolet radiation that reaches the surface. Air also reduces the possibility that meteorites and asteroids could level a city. Most space rocks vaporize in the air before they reach the ground, where they can cause destruction. Earth’s atmosphere also helps moderate temperatures so that its surface isn’t too hot or too cold to support life.
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a colorless gas, which was first discovered in 1577 by Van Helmont who detected it in the products of both fermentation and charcoal burning. CO2 is used in solid, liquid, and gas forms in a variety of industrial processes. These include: beverage carbonation, dry ice, welding and chemicals manufacturing. It is produced by the combustion of all carbonaceous fuels and can be recovered in an abundance of ways. It is widely used today as a by-product of synthetic ammonia production, fermentation, and from flue gases by absorption process. CO2 is also a product of animal metabolism and is important in the life cycles of plants and animals. It is present in the atmosphere only in small quantities (.03% by vol.)
oxygen out of the blood and uses it in the body's cells. The cells use
The human lungs are a pair of large, sponge like organs that are optimised for gas exchange between the blood and oxygen. The human body requires oxygen in order to survive and function. The lungs are responsible for providing vital oxygen while also removing the carbon dioxide before hazardous levels are reached within the body.
When we think of air pollution we think of the refineries in our cities and the exhaust coming from our cars mostly. In reality there are many more pollutants that we don't think about every day. The six most common air pollutants are; “Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides, Sulphur oxides, Particulate matter, Volatile organic compounds, and Ground-level ozone (nitrogen oxide and Volatile organic compounds reaction)”(David Suzuki Foundation). The fact is people are dying from air pollution and we are doing nothing to make it better, in fact air pollution is getting worse.
In some way, shape, or form energy is one of the several reasons why there is an existence of life on earth. Cellular respiration and Photosynthesis form a cycle of that energy and matter to support the daily functions that allow organisms to live. Photosynthesis is often seen to be one of the most important life processes on Earth. Photosynthesis is a process by which plants use the energy of sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose so other organisms can use it as food and energy. It changes light energy into chemical energy and releases oxygen. This way organisms can stay alive and have the energy to function. Chlorophyll is an organelle generally found in plants, it generates oxygen as a result too. As you can see without
When people burn fossil fuels to accumulate and produce energy a substance called carbon is produced. Carbon is released into the air in a form known as carbon dioxide. Carbon moves throughout the biosphere on the planet as it is recycled and reused. Carbon exists in the earth’s atmosphere in two common forms which are methane and carbon monoxide. These gases absorb and retain heat in a process known as the greenhouse effect. The Planets natural greenhouse effect makes life possible by regulating our temperature. It turns out that adding too much to the greenhouse effect can have horrible consequences on the environment. Each year, five and a half billion tons of carbon is released by burning fossil fuels and of that three billion tons enters the atmosphere. The remaining carbon usually gets absorbed by the oceans.
Air pollution is known to affect human and animal life. Plants are also affected indirectly as air pollution is known to cause acid rain, an even deeper detriment to plant life than most. Lung related diseases are among the most important features that the world have come
Oxygen (O) is one of the most important ions present in the body, making up 61% of the body’s mass. It aids in the destruction of harmful bacteria, while preserving the bacteria that is beneficial for the body. Oxygen takes on its role, and transfers the bacteria absorbed into the lungs, to the cells, allowing for cell respiration. Oxygen allows for the replacement of old cells, protection of the new ones, production of energy from the food, and decomposition of other foods (“Oxygen and Human Body,” n.d.). Oxygen is also vital to produce an activity known as metabolism, which is ‘the sum of the physical and chemical processes in an organism by which its material substance is ...
Air pollution is caused by many things such as car fumes, burning of fossil fuels,
The emission of carbon dioxide has contributed to 80% to the heating of the earth atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is produced due the burning of fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal and oil. The burning of fossil fuel is very important in our society today, because it is used for cooking, used to produce electricity, for heating, for cooling and also for transportation. The industrialization has led to the use of fossil fuel for running machines and driving cars. The building of fossil fuel contributes towards 80-90% of the carbon dioxide we find in our atmosphere today. When the ecosystems are altered and vegetation is either burned or took out, the carbon stored in them is relinquished to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide (What causes global climate change, 2005). Methane is another gas being produced in the process which all have served to increase the greenhouse effect in our atmosphere. Methane is produced from the cultivation of rice, from the burning of coal and from cattle, it has increased by 145% due to human
The atmosphere is an open system that consists of a gaseous mixture enveloping a planet (Answers.com). These gasses, known as air, include O2, N2 and H2O. The atmosphere is also composed of water, ice and dust particles. Atmosphere functions like a blanket, keeping Earth's heat from escaping into space (Lenkeit). It has also been compared to a greenhouse: like glass it lets short wave insulation inside, but keeps most of long wave ground radiation from going out (Lenkeit).
Air pollution according to the Wikipedia << is the introduction of particulates, biological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth’s atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment>>. Therefore, human being should be aware of the facts that the environment and all living creatures are dying. They need to understand the importance of natural items, the nature, etc…
The amount of water that is on earth at any one time remains fairly constant because the water is moving form one reservoir into another such as river to ocean or ocean to atmosphere. This cycle involves the exchange of energy causes a change in temperature. This is why when evaporation occurs, it takes energy from its surroundings and cools the environment. While condensation occurs energy is released and the surrounding environment becomes warmer. The atmosphere is a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, and other gasses that surround the earth. The atmosphere is made up of five layers known as the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere, the thermosphere, and the exosphere. The troposphere is the lowest layer of the earth’s atmosphere; it is also where all weather on earth takes place. The stratosphere is the second layer of the atmosphere, right above the troposphere. Above the stratosphere is the mesosphere and above that is the troposphere. The uppermost region of earth’s atmosphere is the exosphere. The air in the exosphere is extremely thin and almost the same as space. One of the many reasons the earths atmosphere is important is because it blocks
Air pollution is when a poisonous or harmful substance is released into the air. There are many forms of pollution but air is one of them, it only occurs when dust, harmful gases or smoke enters into the atmosphere and makes it hard for species like plants, animals and humans to live in a difficult situation because of the dirty air. Air Pollution is classified in two sections, invisible air pollution and visible air pollution.. Hence any substance that makes it difficult for the living things that need the atmosphere is air pollution. Humans have been undergoing air pollution ever since the industrial revolution.
Air pollution is a type of pollution that can severely damage our environment as well as the earth’s atmosphere. Air pollution occurs all the time when the air contains many substances ...
