The Imperial Vault of Heaven is located along the Danbi Bridge, the bridge which connects the Circular Mound Altar and Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest. It is a large, circular pavilion that was used for housing tablets that emperors used during a ceremony to worship Heaven. Tablets are still kept along the walls of the pavilion today. Like the other pavilions in the park, the circular shape is meant to represent Heaven. It has three unique features: the Echo Wall, the Three Echo Stone, and the Dialogue Stone. There are two main walls of this pavilion: the West and East Annex walls, which are dedicated to several different tablets. The Echo Wall is incredibly unique to the pavilion. Because the walls are so flat and smooth, when individuals stand on opposite ends of the building, they can hear the other whisper from across the room. This is because the walls allow the sound to travel. It is often called a “mysterious atmosphere” by individuals experiencing the phenomena. In addition to the Echo Wall, there is also the Three Echo Stone. These stones are located on the road outside of the pavilion. When you stand on the first stone and speak, you will hear an echo. The Long Corridor is to the east of the Altar for Grain Prayers. Seventy-two rooms are present in this corridor, all meant for housing items needed for sacrificial ceremonies. The corridor was then used to transport all offerings into the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests during the sacrificial ceremonies. The Imperial Hall of Heaven was used to consecrate important tablets. These tablets are held within house shaped shrines inside the hall.
