Various definitions of tourism exist. Tourism is defined by Macmillan Online Dictionary as the business of providing services for those people travelling for holidays. Tourism has experienced continued growth over the years and diversification and has become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. For countries like Australia, it has become one of the major contributing sectors in the economy generating large proportions of the national income and at the same time increase employment opportunities. The future is still bright for the industry in the country with possible future growth in expansion and diversification. The industry however has both the pros and cons impacts to various ranges of environments (Tourism Research Australia).
Improvements in transport and communications have essentially facilitated the growth and movement of international tourists with information technology particularly revolutionizing the organization and running of tourist businesses (Oduori). With an online travel agency, consumers have experienced: websites ease of use, loyalty, satisfaction, downloading brochures, comparing prices on many websites, writing email comments, instant online chatting, and making frequent purchases (Couture et al., 2015). Traveling is a major part of a customer’s way of life; allowing them to purchase travel online is important to increase online sales, and to give them a positive online customer experience (Rose et al, 2011).
According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (2003) (WTTC), travel and tourism is the biggest industry in the world on virtually any economic measure, including gross output, value added, capital investment, employee, and tax contribution. Therefore, what is travel? Travel is to move or go from one place to another (Cambridge Dictionaries Online, 2015). A memorable trip that I went is Genting Highlands, Bukit Tinggi and Sungkai. The trip is a family trip. This is a 2 Day 1 night trip. The motivation that motivate we go to travel is because of push and pull factor. Dann (1997) simply explains push factors as the motive that drives a tourist away from home and pull factors as the motives in which drive a tourist towards a destination. Based

Many theorists and academics have tried to explain these motivations and conducted various and different theories of motivators, based on tourists’ choices and typologies of their behaviours, which will be discussed more in-depth in this paper. Nonetheless, there is still confusion whether these theories can be applicable in practice and have accurate data and results (Holloway&Humphreys, 2012). In the following essay, a comprehensive literature review is conducted which will initially develop a definition and evaluation of important theories of travel motivations and typologies of tourist behaviour; then, it will continue by assessing if those theories are applicable in practice, in relation to the available tourism data and how efficiently can be supported and

Throughout the past thirty years traveling tourists have had the opportunity to travel all over the world and discover a variety of different cultures. This incredible opportunity has been facilitated by the developments of tourist friendly locales all over the world in remote areas of the globe such, Madagascar, Easter Island (off the coast of Chile), Bali, and more recently the Mentawai Islands off the coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. Travelers are finding more reasons to break off the beaten path, primarily because they want to escape from the crowds that can come with more popular vacation destinations. Many of these travelers who are choosing new and remote destinations for their travels are the young backpackers hailing from just about every country in the world. Accompanying them are families who want to have a more remote and more isolating experience. Still many are honeymooners fresh from the altar. And the last group which, consists of the surfers who travel to the ends of the globe to find that perfect combination of weather, water, and waves. These surfers are connoisseurs of some of the finest beaches in the world and thirst after lush white tropical sands and blue water like a camel fresh off of a trek through the Sahara. One of the major catalysts that has allowed for the growth of these remote tourist locations has been the development of the internet, which has allowed everyone in the world to visit almost any place with the click of a button, make a reservation at a hotel, and see a menu from a local restaurant. This ability to research and carefully plan trips to remote locations around the world is a modern phenomenon, whi...
At the present time, one of the inseparable parts of the economic growth is considered as tourism industry. Commonly, tourism is the movement of people to other places for business or leisure purposes as well as covers their activities. Holloway and Humphreys defines that the places where tourists come and spend their money are called as “tourist destinations” in other words “receiving areas”. The industry activities have been demonstrated a general positive trend in the economy and it has already become the inherent part of economic development. In host countries, tourism has led to such positive consequences as the improved infrastructure,
When people travel to a destination, they sure have some motivation to motivate them to make the decision. ‘Motivation’ is the key term that will make the tourist to consider the reason to travel around. During the decision making process, people will consider some of the reasons before they confirm travel to a destination. The research that has conducted in The Netherland found out a remarkably high propensity to travel, 70% of the populations are taking one holiday per year and 24% was taking two holidays per year for holiday. Some of the people will affect their decision making by looking at destination image or some of the impact advertising. On the internet, business people will use image and advertising to attract tourist to travel to the destination by using image that they edit before. This is part of the marketing to promote their country to tourist. For family traveler, they will consider the distance and transportation travel to the destination. When go for travel, tourist will bring the whole family to travel. Then, they will consider old people who travel long journey are very hard for them. If one of the family members are senior citizen, they need to consider their healthy. Some of the senior citizen cannot take long journey, such as they have sickness. Bring children go for holiday also need to be consider. Some of the children will afraid of the highest in the plane, so they will feel uncomfortable. There is plenty of reason need to consider before making any decision to travel.
