1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Travel and tourism has become one of the most popular forms of activity for people of different walks of life. The need to travel has become so essential that it has become one of the busiest industries in the world today. Whether it is for business or for pleasure, to travel to a particular destination is part of everyday life. In the late twentieth century, the tourism industry has grown at a sustainable rate particularly for leisure activities in which people are more focused on going for holidays (Page and Connell, 2009, 4). Players in the tourism industry are noe becoming more technologically savvy to keep up with current trends. As the nature of tourism is rich with various information, the internet has made it easier for players in the tourism industry to communicate their products and service information to their potential clients. As for travellers, they benefit highly from internet use. Travellers tend to seek information on their destinations before making a decision (Zhou, 2014, 3). In addition, upon making their decision, travellers then are able to make travel arrangements.
