You should contact police an file a police report. Then, you should contact the credit bureaus (Experian, Transunion, Equifax) let them know that you are a victim of identity theft. They will be able to inform you know if someone is using your information. If you have a credit card, you should contact the company in let them know that you are a victim of identity theft. The company will then cancel your current credit card and issue you another card and pin number. You will have to contact the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) they will give you a pin number that you will have to use every year to file your taxes. Any social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and sites that you use to order things, anything that people can get your information. You may think that someone is not watching what you post on the sites. Criminals and hackers can get any information, you should be familiar with sites that you order things from. You should make sure that they are legit websites. You should use websites your not familiar with. Finally, you should not upload pictures of your credit cards, bank cards, driver licenses, and social security card on any social sites.
Conclusion
Identity theft is a crime people should protect their selves and their children personal information. You have to learn how to hide your personal information out of other people eyesight. If you think that you have become a victim of identity theft, you should follow procures as calling the police, all three major credit bureaus, and IRS (Internal Revenue Services). You make sure that you use secure websites to order things from. Also, make sure you don't upload important personal information on social websites. You should educate yourself and love ones on identity theft. The criminals are watching.

When downloading apps or signing up for something there are also agreements and terms. To insure that your information is safe you must read everything before agreeing. According to "Social Networks Can Jeopardize Your Data Privacy" it says " The social network itself may also try to access your email address book to invite your friends to join the network too. In other cases, a social network may be obliged to hand over its user account information to a government agency, which is also a loss of data privacy". In other words, analyzing the mistakes that people make when dealing with their information, can save someone from identity theft. Most identity thieves can get personal information just by simply looking in the trash. Your wallet can get stolen if not kept safely. Anything with information on it such as, credit cards, driver’s license, passports, and health insurance cards, can and will be useful to any identity thieves. Identity theft is a serious crime that can completely wreak your finances, credit history, and reputation.
Identity Theft is a severe and important issue that needs more recognizing than is currently has now. Identity Theft is when mean people go around and try to steal your Identity. If they are successful and have stolen your identity they can buy items and you will be charged. They can also ruin your credit history and reputation with your Identity. Identity theft happens every day and many people are affected daily. If your identity gets stolen it may take years to get all your stuff back. It may even cost you money to fix it! Identity theft has become the number one profit crime in the United States. As detective Kaminski said, “It is more efficient to commit identity fraud than to rob a bank because the odds of being caught are less likely.” If a business suspects their company 's identities being stolen they should inform the proper authorities who deal with this rapid growing problem. Not trying to stop the issue will cause greater stress in the future and possibly jeopardize the whole business. It can take years to return back to a stable state after having your identity stolen. If a thief is caught stealing identity, they can be fined up to one thousand to one hundred thousand dollars. Depending on the seriousness of the crime, the person can end up in prison for years. To avoid the troubles of identity theft, it is important to be educated on the precautions of the issue. Businesses and individuals must take the initiative to secure their personal information and identity to be able to lower the rate of identity
Identity theft involves the fraudulent use of individual information such as social security numbers, dates of birth, and credit card numbers by thieves who are intent on using this information for personal gain. Law enforcement agencies around the world have responded to an alarming increase of identity theft cases.
III. Thesis Statement: Identity Theft is rapidly becoming a national issue because anyone of us could be a victim of identity theft. How we protect our self, keep our information private, identify any signs of identity theft, and report and repair our credit is up to each one of us. We have to be vigilant about our protecting ourselves from criminals.
Identity theft can happen to anyone. Identity theft is nothing new, it has been happening to people for decades. Before computers were prevalent, identity theft occurred when criminals would steal purses and wallets. With computers being more ubiquitous, ID theft has become easier to get away with, whereas prior to computers, thieves would have to go into banks and would have a higher chance of being caught. Identity theft will happen to you.
Have you ever received a credit card bill at the end of the month with a ridiculous amount of money needed to be paid that you never spent? This is because of identity theft. The FTC estimates that each year, over 9 million people are affected by identity theft. According to Sally Driscoll, this is because almost anyone with a computer and a slight bit of computer knowledge can pull off identity theft. Experts also claim that identity theft is the fastest-growing crime in the world. Identity theft is a global problem that cannot be stopped without effective measures. The problem is, effective measures are very hard to come by when dealing with identity theft because almost any security protocol can be by-passed.

Taking all the necessary and precautionary steps to prevent yourself from being a victim of identity theft does not guarantee that you will indeed be safe from this crime. Why so?
