Every year of school, for as long as I can remember, my parents have pushed me to reach my potential and constantly challenge me. This mindset was instilled in me at a young age. My sense of drive and self-motivation has grown and opened many doors for me. I firmly believe that opening yourself up to academic challenges does more good than just helping you to “get ahead” and win awards or recognition. Rather, making the independent choice to fully invest in a difficult challenge, and to face the real possibility of failure, builds more character and confidence than can be fostered from nearly any other experience. I want to participate in the Accelerated Math Physics Program because I want the challenge, including the good, bad, and ugly that comes with it. …show more content…
Equally as important though, I look forward to collaborating with classmates who share my drive and mindset, as well as building lifelong friendships at Rose-Hulman. Math and physics relate to my career goals because I desire to do work and research in the sector of energy and batteries. I believe that math and physics are prerequisites to understanding how energy works and can be optimized for the better. I want to go into electrical engineering because it is a field that is always changing in order to provide net improvements to the world. I wish to be a part of the group that is able to harness and work with the magic that is electricity, electromagnetism, and energy. I know that I will need to be able to apply the difficult concepts and theories studied in my math and physics courses to real life situations. My interest in math and physics truly blossomed when I attended the Big M math camp at Ball State. From then on I became fascinated with learning about even the most complex areas of math and the laws of physics that can apply to the creation of new technology. I love math and physics because they are the ultimate
I am a dedicated, focused student looking to push the boundaries of Engineering Physics with creative out of the box thinking. I have the drive to be successful and positively represent UBC Engineering Physics. I have a passion for physics and math which is why I believe this program is so appealing and a perfect choice. Having already started, run and sold a successful landscaping company, I have experience in entrepreneurship and have determined being an entrepreneur is something I want to pursue in the future. I believe Engineering Physics would give me the opportunity and breadth of knowledge to make my entrepreneurial vision a reality and allow me to find solutions to the issues that will impact the future of humanity. Being on UBC Supermileage
As I mentioned previously, math and science are my primary academic interests, and I can see myself in a future career related to either of those subjects. In the past, I've shown interest in a career in engineering, and have since taken two PLTW
Throughout my two years in high school, I have been trying to maintain a certain grade point average. I’ve passed two of my state tests already and I have yet to take my English II and U.S. History state test. I passed my Algebra I test in 8th grade with Proficient and my Biology I test my freshman year with Proficient. My grades fell off the first 9 weeks of this school year because I had a hard time understanding English II and I ended up scoring Basic on my 1st 9 weeks benchmark test. Now I have made a promise to myself that I will be advanced in everything from now on. I’ve been studying more and working in my SATP practice booklets and now my grades are improving. When I was in 2nd grade I was accepted into the Gifted/Excel class at Bentonia Gibbs up until my 7th grade year at Yazoo County Junior High. Ever since junior high, I have been in the advanced classes, and I hope that will help me with my plan to graduate as one of the top of my class.
Did you ever strive to get to a higher stage in life? Maybe it had something to do with the goal that you wanted to fulfill , or maybe you were just anxious to complete that one goal you set for yourself in life. If you understand what it means to strive for a goal you can understand why being a student at SciTech High is so important to me. Going to SciTech will mean the world to me because it will help me succeed and pursue my dreams. Attending SciTech High would open new doors for me and give me more opportunities to experience the world in a new way. At the same time, I will be intellectually sound, determined, and confident as I continue my education.
Mario Andretti once said, “Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” Andretti’s words are as true today as when he spoke them. Everyday should be a continuous journey to get to your goal. Starting off with the right step is a major component. Therefore, I chose to apply to Stanly Early College High. I believe that I have the ability to work up to Stanly Early College standards. Determination, dedication, and desire are all qualities that I have.
...things I like the most about my degree program is that it is not all about academic studies even though it is heavily science-oriented. In that regard, my classes do emphasize atomic physics and chemistry, but they also offer substantial opportunity for practical experience. In the words of Professor Hejny, "It's not just classes; clinicals, homework, and practical experience make this a full-time program."
I have three reasons to continue hoping. They are: my freshman physical science class, the manner in which I came to take calculus in junior year and my experiences with high school swimming. These incidents have, despite the odds against it, added to my confidence in my academic ability and have shown me that there is something to be learned from even the...
I have the academic background to be able to perform successfully in this program, and the ambition to do so. Throughout my high school career, I have taken only the most rigorous and demanding classes. As of now, I have a 4.44 weighted academic GPA, and have scored in the 99th percentile for both the SAT and PSAT. I am a very active student in each of my classes, as well as a fast learner. I am an excellent student not only in the classroom, but also in athletics, in my working life, and in
The National Honor Society in an exceptional organization that enhances students to help the community whether it be assisting nonprofit firms, orphans, or the aging. A chance of joining the society would make me excited due to the limitless openings it would create in my future. Joining it would thus enable me to grow as a person and the same time help me do much for others. Nevertheless, I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students that are considered to join the society. I must admit it is an opportunity that I have been looking forward to since the beginning of my high school career. I am certain that the NHS has a positive impact to the community, in which I can help furthering the existing the impression. In my years as a
I have always been inspired by the workings of chemistry and mathematics. My studies of these subjects have developed my understanding and have made me pursue my interest in these two topics. I want to take up chemistry as it involves a large amount of mathematics which I value and understand to be challenging, yet very enjoyable, as there is always an alternative route to obtain the answer. Additionally, I am drawn to the course because it is a mixture of all these exacting subjects, forming a degree that is very demanding and stimulating. Chemists are constantly thinking of new ways to produce viable drugs containing different isomers to improve the pharmaceutical sector using mathematical equations. Chemistry is about innovation, applying information to new areas and how to do things better than they were before, the degree appeals to and fascinates me.
This quote from Dr. Seuss really inspired me. It said, “The more that you read, the more things you know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”This high school will help me reach my future goals, my goals are to become a heart surgeon they perform on the heart, lungs, blood vessels, and other organs. I look forward to taking advanced placement classes in chemistry and Calculus AB. The skills that I have to contribute to Benjamin Banneker is my academics I’m a really smart and wise person so I can bring that knowledge to Banneker. I personally, feel like I'm ready for the challenge, I would want to challenge myself not for someone to challenge me. Im saying that I need to become self motivated and become stronger than I was
