If you could give your heart to a city, which city would you choose? The city of Vienna captured my soul and my heart belongs to it. It is a serious-looking city, full of right angles and old historical streets. It screams majestic, and you can almost see the phantoms from eras past travelling through the air in gorgeous gowns . Vienna is worth a visit for her face and culture is as old as Europe herself— from her cuisine, street performances, and architecture.
TS Vienna is full of food contrasts. PS On one side of the street is Vienna's street food, on the other side are fancy restaurants. SS The sausage stands came really handy, whenever I took a long walk and wanted something to eat while sight seeing. SS They usually serve a proper sausage like Käsekrainer, Bosna, and Burenwurst with fillings like pickles, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions. PS. There are so many gourmet and quality restaurants all over Vienna that sometimes it is hard to pick. SS Once I went to a Viennese tavern, called Wirtshäuser or Beisln, where I had a simple hearty comfort meal, that included some great crispy skinned pork, sauteed sauerkraut, and a cold potato salad. SS I enjoyed it very much! PS The other one I explored, was the restaurant of contradiction between the extravagant and the fun. SS They served Gulasch (similar to steak tartare), basically raw meat. SS Even though it was fancy and I felt like there was royal blood running through my veins, I ended up not eating it, but I paid the full price for it. CS However, it was a great experience and I would love to go back and enjoy more edible food.

...tunnels, between the architecture and art highlighted for me the history embedded in Vienna. SS Walking in her beautiful green parks, listening to Mozart, seeing the sculptures revealed to me the beauty and importance of art as captured by the great minds of days long gone. CS. Vienna is truly a magnificent city that offers a noteworthy architectural feast!
Vienna, Austria is a museum in and of itself. This is a city where I breathed and absorbed the history and culture of the old world simply by standing on one of her streets. Every time I go through the file “Wien pictures”, every cell of my body screams of joy! Vienna holds a special place in my heart as a blend of our awe inspiring past, breathtaking present, and a shiny bright future. She is a city all at once complicated, romantic, classy, elegant, and bearing conspicuous notes of royalty. I love you Vienna!
Q: Use St Peter’s basilica and Donato Bramante’s Tempietto in Rome, in opposition to John Balthasar Neumann’s Pilgrimage Church of Vierzehnheiligen in Bamburg, Germany, to argue that a rational engagement with architecture is a more effective means to comprehend and understand architectural form.

Christmas and Opera did not merely seem to correlate, but understanding where the two events derived from can help one to understand the similarities and differences between them. The development of Christmas was different from the creation of opera because the working class was controlling the other social classes for profit. Whereas for opera, the different social classes unified to keep opera as entertainment and not a social event. Another difference came within the writing and context throughout the article and the presentation of information conveyed by the author. Yet the events share the similarity of both being refined and reinvented.
Mahler's early career was spent at a serious of regional opera houses (Hall in 1880, Laibach in 1881, Olmutz in 1882, Kassel in 1883, Prague in 1885, Liepzig in 1886-8, Budapest from 1886-8, and Hamburg from 1891-7), a normal career path, until he arrived as head of the Vienna Opera in 1897. Mahler ended some of the more slovenly performance pra...
When one considers the history of classical music, often images of Vienna, Prague, and other European cities come to mind. Centuries of European musical achievement and development have implanted in society the idea that classical music is an inherently European creation. Considering the accomplishments of countless composers such as J.S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Antonin Dvorak, this preconception is certainly not unfounded. However, Leonard Bernstein's rise to international fame proved that one cannot neglect American composers in a discussion of the development of Western music. Combining elements of a vast array of musical styles, Bernstein's unique compositions reached a wide variety of audiences and often bridged gaps between distinct musical genres. Through his long conducting career, profoundly influential compositional output, and televised music lectures, Leonard Bernstein left a lasting legacy which came to define American music in the 20th century.

At the time the Austrian capital of Vienna was the musical center for composers, which soon became reason for many of the changes that were made to musical style. Composers came from all over Europe to train in Vienna in the classical time period. One of the great composer that came to Vienna is Franz Schubert he soon started a style of music called Viennese School that made many changes to the style of music as well as changes to instrumentation. The arrangements became one form to another while keeping certain similar characteristics, music became lighter and more complex, and melodies and harmonies became more complicated with more separate parts happening all at once. The instrumentation that was popular also changed. Solos, trios, quartets, and quintets became popular, beside large orchestras.
The years between the middle of the 1700’s to the early 1800’s was a time of immense value according to many music enthusiasts today. In this era the music was considered controlled and reserved. Many Sonatas, Symphonies, and Quartets could be heard in the homes of Vienna during the Classical Era. This era, like every other, had a unique style that has fascinated throngs of people through the ages. John Cage once said, “I can’t understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I’m frightened of the old ones.” The Classical Period at its beginnings was looked upon as unique from the Baroque Period.
The city I propose as a perfect city, would be as close to an ecocity as possible, although have some differences. For example, for electrical needs, I would suggest the city have a solar power plant, but on those desperate times, energy would be bought from other electrical plants from nearby towns or states.
