SETTING
The main events of the story take place in district twelve and in the hunger games arena. District twelve is where Katnis now lives very comfortably in the victors village which is a street on one end of the district where only the winners (of the hunger games) and their families live. This is where the first major event takes place. Katnis is coming home from hunting one day and sees her mom standing in the front doorway of their house, as Katnis approaches the house her mom says “You have a visitor.”. This is when Katnis realizes President Snow standing in the kitchen, she knows that if the President of all of Panem has come to deliver news then it must be bad.
The second main event is when Katnis is coming back from the Hob (district twelves black market of sorts) she notice almost all of the town standing in town square. Naturally she goes to see what all the fuss is about and it is only then that she realizes her best-friend Gail is unconscious and being held up by a pole that he is tied to, about a second later he is whipped and that is when Katnis steps in.
The third event happens in Katnis’ living room. She and her family are sitting on the couch after a long day watching television when an announcement comes on saying that for the quarter quell games(a special hunger games that takes place every 25 years and always has an unexpected twist) all the tributes will be victors from past years. This means Katnis will be going in again.
The fourth major event takes place in the arena, which is a large saltwater lake with the cornucopia (the thing holding all the weapons) at the center, surrounded by platforms arranged in a circle around the cornucopia. The lake is surrounded with about fifty ...

TONE
Suzanne Collins was very good at evoking emotion in this book. There was tension in the air throughout the whole book and it was conveyed in a way that wasn’t obvious but if you payed attention you got it. Over all I felt sort of nervous when bad things happened and relieved when good things happened, this was a very stressful book.
THEME
The message conveyed in this book is that even when the odds are not in your favor you should do what you know is right and it may be tough but it’s worth it.
PERSONAL RELEVANCE
I really enjoyed this book, it was a good escape. When I was reading this book I felt like I was in a different world, I felt like I was in their world. The author just wrote it in a way that everything that happens feels real. Overall this was a very good book.
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
I would recommend this book to people who love realistic stories. Personally for me it is hard to find books that interest me and this one felt like if I was watching someone else's life while I read it. It has so many interesting points. When you think something might happen
I loved this book, it is so incredibly moving and you want to cry and
Vogler states that “ The hero comes back to the ordinary world, but the adventure would be meaningless unless he/she brought back the elixir, treasure, or some lesson from the special world (Vogler).” They bring back hope to their district and the rest of Panem. The elixir that Katniss returns with is the knowledge and drive to change Panem. Katniss and Peeta winning the hunger games started a revolution in Panem. They return with the knowledge of the hunger games which they plan to teach to future competitors from district 12. Peeta, Katniss, and Haymitch are all mentors for District 12. Their rebellious actions in the games may seem small, but they started a whole new rebellion on a much larger
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
The author really keeps the reader own edge and guessing what will happen next throughout the pages. I find that I can connect to the book on a cultural standpoint from living in the Appalachian Mountains .It is very interesting to me that she based this on her own family history. The book starts out telling two completely different stories,
I think my favorite thing about this novel was the realistic ending. Some books try to just give you a fairy tale but this book had an ending that mad you think in the end if I was in the same position would I do the same thing. I didn’t like the fact that the novel portrayed mental illness in a way to say that it needed to be hidden and protected. I thought this novel was very believable for the time period that it was set in. I think the ending to this novel was perfect it was an accurate ending to this
Why is the hunger games book series banned in some school districts? So the books, even be banned. The hunger games series is about two teen Defeat the strong capital rules, by falling in love with each other and deciding not to kill each other forcing the game makers of the capitol to change the rules of the game and let cattness and Petta live, (main charters). But Now in catching fire the story changes a bit. The teens need to battle again. With the capitol ,people and love. There are a lot of the graphic parts in the story, but I believe that any 9th grader should be able to handle it.
So in the movie “The Hunger Games” we start with the introduction of the twelve districts each district specializing in a resource, each of the resources used to feed to city called “The Capitol”. We start off in district twelve where we meet our main character Katniss Everdeen. In the beginning of the movie we can see that she
Every year after the uprising the capital hosts the annual Hunger Games were two children no younger than twelve and no older than seventeen are reaped and then put into a arena to fight to the death while the whole country of Penma watches till only one tribute stands in reminder that the capital has the ultimate power. Until one year one girl unknowingly defied the capital by attempting to kill herself and her fellow tribute who was madly in love because they were the last two in the games and they did not want to kill each other. Until at the last minute the games were considered over and they were both crowned victors. These two tributes were Katniss Everdean and Peeta Mellark .Catching Fire takes place after the 74th Hunger Games Katniss Everdean and Peeta Mel...
In a not-too-distant, some 74 years, into the future the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 13 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games; these children are referred to as tributes (Collins, 2008). The Games are meant to be viewed as entertainment, but every citizen knows their purpose, as brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts. The televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eradicate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. The main character throughout the series is a 16-year-old girl from District 12 named Katniss Everdeen.
The movie The Hunger Games, originally based on a book by Suzanne Collins, is about a place called Panem, which is ruled by the Capitol and has 12 districts within it. These 12 districts are separated founded on their economic statuses, meaning the higher the district, the more impoverished the residents are. There are 2 tributes that are chosen to participate, forcibly, in The Hunger Games each year. Each competitor is instructed to eliminate one another in order to survive and come out on top. There is only one tribute allowed to come out of the arena alive. Katniss lives in District 12, which is the most impoverished district of them all, and she volunteers as tribute in “the Reaping” when her sister is chosen to participate. She and the other tribute from her district, Peeta, make it into the arena with the hopes that one of them comes out the winner and above all else, alive (Ross, 2012). I will refrain from going any further just in case you have not read the book or have not seen the movie. In terms of soci...
...nt, Katniss decides not to play by the rules anymore and she splits a handful of poison berries with Peeta. She decides that she is not going to let the “Gods” manipulate the game anymore. Right before they eat the berries the leader’s voice comes overhead and tells them that they have both one. The reason he decides to do this is because the crowd would be incredibly disappointed if the “show” ended this way. This is Katniss’ true show of courage, to defy the leaders/Gods and make her own ending. It can be said that this was Katniss’ destiny or fate: that she was meant to win the Hunger Games.
-Arena broken into and some victors including Katniss are rescued Peeta is captured by capital
The main character, Katniss, volunteers as tribute for her district to save her sister from having to be tribute. Upon arriving in the Capitol for the games, she sees just how vast the gap between the Capitol and districts are. To fight against this class struggle, she begins to revolt. At first this comes in the form of small things, like shooting an arrow at a pig feast of Capitol higher-ups and refusing to kill her friend in the games, resulting in the first ever co-victors of the Hunger Games. Katniss’ actions soon lead to full blown rebellion in the districts, starting a revolutionary war between them and the Capitol. At one point Katniss remarks: “My ongoing struggle against the Capitol, which has so often felt like a solitary journey, has not been undertaken alone. I have had thousands upon thousands of people from the districts at my side.” (Catching Fire 90). In true Marxist fashion the working class needed to use a violent revolution to confront the class struggle against the ruling
