Humanitarian efforts have always been a primary obligation to me as I was raised in a family of philanthropists who are active in highly respected organizations like Teleton and Rotary. I have always wanted to positively impact the world through my love for art and scholarship. While my mission for global improvement is an ambitious dream, I believe it is possible and a great place to start is right at home in the community. I plan on using the opportunities of volunteer work in my community and my love for art and scholarship on further helping humanitarian efforts. There are many ways to support local humanitarian efforts, such as participating in local events, charities, and volunteer work. My personal goal is to become more involved in my community by volunteering for organizations I feel strongly towards such as Habitat for Humanity Laredo, TAMIU-LBV Literacy Partnership, and United Way of Laredo. …show more content…

I plan on holding an art exhibit where local art is submitted, displayed, then auctioned off and all money raised goes towards the Gates Foundation. The Gates Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded by Bill and Melinda Gates that works to help people lead healthy and productive lives through initiatives like tackling widespread illness, vaccine delivery, sanitation and hygiene, agricultural development, and education opportunities. They tackle these issues using productive sciences, investments towards the strengthening of agriculture in third world countries, and investments towards national school networks to find productive solutions to common problems that can further ensure the quality of education the future generations of our country obtain. I have a lot of faith in this foundation for they are fighting well known global and nationwide problems in, what I believe is, a very effective
