Shakespeare, through his protagonists, says a lot about human qualities in one of his most famous plays, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo’s most prominent qualities are that he is peaceful and carrying. Many times, because of these feelings, he takes impulsive actions and doesn’t completely think things thought. Juliet is sensitive, obedient, and carring. She sometimes runs into trouble because she can’t be caring and obedient at the same time, and has to pick one over the other.
Romeos carrying quality is shown mostly through his love for Juliet. In his countless poems, he tells about his love for her and his desire to be with her and care for her. Not only does he talk about it, but he also acts on his feelings. He has long conversations with her, …show more content…

For example, when Capulet and Mercutio are fighting, he gets in the way. All he wants is peace. He doesn’t want fighting between his people and that of Juliet. We often think of peaceful as being a good trait. Shakespeare however, makes it a negative quality. Romeo’s impulse for peace, ends in its opposite: death.
Juliet's carrying for Romo, her parents, and her cousin all conflict with each other resulting in a turmoil of emotions and an emotional break down. Her sensitivity to these emotions result in her disobeying her father and mother. She chooses her feelings for Romeo, over those for anyone else.
Again, Shakespeare turns these qualities that we usually believe to be good, obedience, sensitivity and carryingness, into death. The combination of Romeo and Juliet both being carrying results in both of them committing suicide. The buildup of their emotions results in peace, through death not only for Romeo and Juliet, but also for their people. Peace through death is often thought to fail, or be the wrong solution, but Shakespeare says that it is the only solution, and the best. He shows us the death and chaos of the conflict, and then he tells us that only more death can stop future
