1 - Hello classmates, I am a thirty eight year old that decided to go to college later in life, but I do not have any regrets with that decision. I know I am more focused today than I would have been right out of high school. I really enjoy running and working out; it keeps me sane. I have been married with no children for fourteen years and have a one year old German shepherd. I work a ton of hours with my job - that is why this program with Bethel is great for me. I am an area sales manager for an AT&T authorized retailer. I have been in my position for eight years and been in this industry for twelve years. I look forward to learning more about other religious beliefs that people feel as deeply about as I do with my own beliefs. 2 - I do understand and respect Bethels late policy. 3 - An academic argument is based on facts from reliable sources, not opinions or theories. The writer needs to avoid inflicting their personal opinion in their writing. A writer will write with directives to initiate a response from readers when it is a personal opinion and when it is an academic argument, the writer will write with firmness because they have facts to support their …show more content…
You will then have someone that does not believe that the Holy Spirit speaks through people; they could believe this because it has not personally happened to them. I believe some people can fake speaking in tongues and some believe it is not possible to fake it based on their personal
The five-paragraph essay is perhaps the only kind of essay many students hear about. Argumentative essays, research papers, and even book reports have a tendency to fall into that formula strictly and allow for little flexibility. This can be a tedious and boring process, as John Warner’s fervent argument insists. However, Kerri Smith demonstrates a stronger argument with her defense of the five-paragraph essay by emphasizing throughout that it is simply a building block for more elaborate essays and by using credible influencers that prove her point effectively.
As students we are taught that in order to have an effective argument, we need a claim, reasoning, and evidence. When comparing, “Two Years Are Better than Four” by Liz Addison, and “Colleges Prepare People for Life” by Freeman Hrabowski it was made obvious that the passage written by Addison had a more effective argument because of the passages claim that was clear to the readers, great reasoning and evidence that backed up her claim.
According to Muller, Prowse, and Soper (2012) the procedures to remove and replace a power supply are;

Writing can be very frustrating; laying your ideas out on paper so that others can grasp the concept you are trying to convey is a very difficult task. In Writing 101 I have learned how to formulate good theses that are arguable and also how to validate articles that have to do with my topic. The most important element of a paper is the thesis statement. It captures the reader's attention and tells them what the essay is about. Having a well-structured thesis along with evidence to support that thesis are the main ingredients to a well-written essay. I have also learned how important it is to research an author’s background to ensure their credibility. This is a very important step in writing because today we can find information on a topic, however, it is not valid. By researching the author, we can see if he or she is an expert in the area and so this would make his or her information more credible. There is a ...
If the student desires to grow in knowledge, they must be willing to adopt a new style of writing as they prepare for higher education. The purpose of a college is not to just feed facts to a student, but rather use the professor to teach the students to develop critical thinking habits so that new knowledge flourishes in the student. These habits are necessary for the new writer if they desire to further improve their writing potential. This requires the writer to focus on writing to communicate ideas that engage and persuade the reader. Clear, precise, and factual writing will assist in this process by teaching the student methods to avoid developing weak or unclear arguments through the elimination of opinions from the essay. It is to be noted that one should be aware not to create excessive claims. These draw away from the culture of the academy and may result in errors that take away from the argument of the
I will always be aware of making an argument that best suits my knowledge and providing evidence to support my thesis statement. I now realize the importance of making an argument because you are stating your stance on the topic at hand. Also, I realize the importance of giving sufficient and appropriate evidence to show the agreeing and opposing views. Learning this at this point in the semester will further my understanding of writing in this course. On the final assignments in this course, I will be sure to state my argument and supply evidence. The experience of learning from this module will positively affect my performance in future writing courses majorly. Like I stated earlier, on further writing assignments I will apply what I have learned because it will stick with me forever. Whether I am writing a science paper, business report, or even creating a report at work in the future, I will be able to use the skills I have

This semester has taught me a great deal about how to develop my rhetorical, persuasive, and reflective writing skills. In the rhetorical essay, I believe my skills revolving around analyzing evidence to support my claims were improved drastically. My rhetorical analysis introduced me to that a direct correlation between tone and what a writer is trying to prove must be present if an argument is going to be strong and effective. My persuasive essay forced me to focus on my tone and diction, as I chose to discuss a very controversial topic that is currently a major social issue within the United States as of today. Prior to writing this essay, I have never thoroughly considered how my audience might respond to my opinions and the evidence used
The Bible makes it clear what speaking tongues really is. People who were filled with the Holy Ghost preached in their own tongue and the Spirit translated the sermon so that the crowds would be able to hear the Gospel. After all, the purpose of speaking in tongues was to get the Gospel out. So, we saw how the Bible declares what tongues are, next week we will look at what tongues are not.
An argument usually depends on the quality of the sources used. The majority of sources have some sort of bias and they present evidence that helps their objective. Chapter 18 says that before using a source to find the author’s place in the issue. The way to avoid being biased in your writing is to find as many reliable sources as possible, but avoid selective choosing sources because you could miss
In concluding three effective characteristics of an effective academic essay are Grammar, content and a good chronological flow. An essay is not an essay without these three key factors. If an individual wants to write an essay that is appealing to their readers, as well as captivating, they should consider these characteristics. No lecturer wants to sit through an essay an read pure foolishness, they want to sit and read substantial information that will grab their attention and keep them informed. As a University student the level of writing should be of an academic standard that portrays the level of writing intended for university students but inoder to achieve this level of writing no one should leave the key behind or lose it or else the door to an effective academic essay will not open.
