A concept that surfaced in the early 1920’s, advertising is a tactic that has been used to influence and persuade the people to participate in consumerism. Advertising in the 1950’s was mainly displayed by the use of the television, newspapers, billboards, and the radio. At the turn of the twenty-first century, advertisers began to rely more on the Internet and technology to share and provide information based on their products. Many relied on the usage of electronic billboards, sporting events, and even video
Late May 2011, a YouTube channel by the name of ksawomen2drive posted an eight minute video. The first day it was up it became the most viewed clip in Saudi Arabia, and became so popular it started trending worldwide. Any non-Arabic viewer might have been slightly baffled by its popularity. To them it would merely be a clip of a woman in a hijab driving while talking to her passenger, and a poorly filmed clip at that. The hundreds of thousands of Arabic viewers however, saw something all together quite different. They were witnessing a crime take place, an act of dissent. The video gained over 600 000 the few days it was up, but was taken down following the arrest of the driver shown in the clip. Manal al-Sharif was that driver.
In the Hulu plus ad its main message is in bold so it’s the first thing you see. “Try it for free.” Using this technique the Hulu Company shows that they stand behind their product and trust that you will enjoy it so much that they give you a free trial. Hulu supervisors and employees make their company a positive place to be around, with positive energy always flowing. “Every one sits together.” They all work in an area together where they can communicate easily with each other. Once you work for Hulu they turn it into a community where everybody works as a well-organized team, not just several individuals sitting alone in a cubical. If Hulu puts this much time and effort just into their work environment to make sure their employees are happy that shows that we can trust them as a respectable company and service providers because they really care about their work environment and the people in it.

When I was a little boy I would catch cartoons on television. But back then I was only 5 or 6 years old, so obviously I didn’t realize the negative stereotyping of Arabs was so common throughout cartoons just for the sake of humor. It wasn’t until I was in my early thirties that I really noticed. At the time my children were watching their daily cartoon shows and they basically said: “Daddy, why are there bad Arabs on TV”. It’s quite sad actually, that is took me that long to notice the trend, but that just shows how harmful racial and ethnical stereotyping can be. The film and television industry has been doing this for so long, even back in the times of silent films; people have become accustomed to it.
As the internet increases its grasp on foreign markets, it was a natural progression for one of the most successful companies to be born from the internet to expand its operations into these fledgling countries. While the internet usage in foreign markets such as Japan, Europe, and China are just beginning to take shape, the number of new internet users in these markets is expanding at a much greater rate than in the United States.
Manufacturers and service providers of cell phones are located throughout the world, although, as inCode, a wireless business and technology consulting firm, suggests, “Not many wireless carriers today have a truly global presence.” However, the company predicts that “the top 10 wireless carriers are going to make a push for globalization in the coming years” (“InCode releases…”). Most especially, inCode foresees service providers reaching to “unconquered markets like China, which is the fastest growing wireless market in the world” (“InCode releases…”). Some companies have already tapped into the global marketplace, spreading areas of coverage across continents. The cell phone manufacturer Nokia, for example, is rooted in Finland, but sells cellular phone products virtually everywhere on the globe. Service providers, although most often more less expansive in scope, are also trying to provide more global coverage.

Even though many companies usually work hard to implement effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, they usually consider video marketing and video SEO as a secondary venture. As a result, most businesses either ignore or give very little marketing resources to the internet’s second biggest search engine, YouTube. With the upsurge in video consumption across all devices, however, it is important and prudent that all companies make video content and marketing an integral

Neither the results of the study conducted by ITU are surprising. Digital divide, in most cases, is resulting from preexisting gaps in society, which affect adoption and strengthening of new technologies. The main factors that cause it are the level of income and its distribution, and the provision of communications infrastructure and level of education. That is why the high IDI ranking Arab countries are mainly the Arabian Gulf countries that have a high income economy as compared with other Arab countries.
