The patient may need assistance caring for himself following discharge from the hospital. The daughter lives too far to assist her father on a daily basis. The case worker needs to determine how much the daughter is willing to assist her father during the transition. The daughter may be willing to become her father’s caregiver during the initial recovery period. She would also be a good support system by providing medication reminders, encouraging medication compliance, dietary restriction compliance and promoting positive health behaviors.

Social agency and the court authorizing the placement, and caregivers are responsible for the continuing monitoring to ensure that the child in placement receives adequate care and supervision (Downs, Moore and McFadden, 2009, p.275). Services for children in foster care are a teamwork effort of the different parties involved (Downs, Moore and McFadden, 2009). Unfortunately in Antowne’s situation the agency and the court system failed him because although he was removed from his mother, the abuse and neglect continued. The systems involved did not provide the safety net Antwone needed.
Waters explain what she does on a micro level it fits the description of what a unified model of advocacy entails. From when a child is removed from their homes and placed into the care of the state, specific tasks have been allocated to her and her unit. As the social worker or case worker read the reports provided an understanding is developed. And if an understanding isn’t developed through reports, the next step of visiting the child, requesting documents from psychiatrist, medical doctors and/or psychologist allows one to gain further insight. A case plan is then created, which states what services the parents and the children must complete and is presented in court to a judge. The advocating, evaluating and ongoing monitoring as mentioned in hoefer in table 1.1 under advocacy practice (,p. 5) is continuous until the child is either returned home or giving a goal of
Patients expect instant response to call lights due to today’s technological advancements. This can negatively impact nurse stress and cause contempt toward the patient. However, the expectation to respond promptly improves safety and encourages frequent rounding. Also, aiming for high patient satisfaction scores on the HCAHPS/Press Ganey by fulfilling patient requests can overshadow safe, efficient, and necessary healthcare. Although patient satisfaction is important, ultimately, the patient’s health takes precedence over satisfying patient and family requests, especially when those requests are unnecessary, harmful, or take away from the plan of care (Junewicz & Youngner, 2015). The HCAHPS/Press Ganey survey focuses on the patient’s perception of care. The problem with this aspect of the survey is that the first and foremost goal of nurses should not be to increase a patient’s score based on perception. According to an article in Health Facilities Management, the nurse’s top priority is to provide the safest, most quality care possible for patients with the resources they are given (Hurst, 2013). Once this has been accomplished, the nurse can then help the patient realize that the most
The Guardian Ad Litem Program represents children who appear in the state courts. These children have not committed any crime but are victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment. The program is comprised of volunteers who represent children in the courts, making sure they do not become victims of "the system". Each volunteer works with one or more children involved in the judicial system and social services agencies, becoming familiar with there lives, while representing the interest of each child before the court or social services agencies involved. Specifically, a volunteer acts in the interest of each child in five different capacities. First, as an investigator, a guardian learns as much as possible about the child' background (i.e. school, church, friends, and any otherpeople/organizations that affect the child). As a monitor, a guardian makes sure social services agencies, and any other organizations involved with the child are meeting their responsibilities to the child. As a protector, a guardian prevents insensitive questioning in the courts that is very often commonplace. As a reporter, a guardian is a liaison between the child and the courts, presentingwritten reports and recommendations to help act in the child's best interests. Finally, as a spokesperson, a guardian makes sure the child's wishes are heard and their best interests are presented to the courts and social services agencies involved with the child. Qualifications to be a Guardian Ad Litem are: at least 19 years old; pass screenings with law enforcement agencies, the Abuse Registry, and Guardian Ad Litem staff; and have a genuine concern for a child's welfare. No prior experience is necessary as each volunteer goes through 48 hours of training, ranging from juvenile justice, child development, and child abuse and neglect.
Expect the best, prepare for the worst and capitalize on what comes (Zig Ziglar). The demand for talented, educated and experienced nursing home administrators is increasing, and filling this demand is becoming more challenging. In this paper, the qualifications, responsibilities, and duties of a nursing home administrator, professional staff, nonlicensed staff, and consultants will be identified. We will explore trends that are likely to affect assisted living in the future. We also will explore new changes in regulation related to the F490, the Facility assessment and how it will impact the role of the administrator.

Different states have different laws, some say that if the person is legally married, then the spouse will be responsible to make decisions regarding his or her care. If the person is not married, then the family or guardian will make the decision for that person. An ethics consultation is available to help determine or assess what that person would want if there is no advance directive (Cedars-Sinai, 2016). In other states like Florida, the court will appoint a guardian to make decisions for the incapacitated patient and the spouse is a secondary guardian. In Terri’s case her husband, Michael was the appointed guardian and was able to make decisions for her medical treatment (Marker, 2013). One would ask, were the decisions made by Michael for Terri’s care the best choices for her? Were they ethically right? Was the court right to appoint Michael as the primary guardian for Terri?

Sandra is showing that she has knowledge about the HCBS programs, services, identifying eligible adults and their unmet needs. As youth care workers, one has a duty to provide support and advocate for the minors that face different types of issues. One needs to be able to provide basic counseling, intervention and risk assessment; while addressing the youth’s issue using a plan and facilitating programs. The duties can be shaped and reformed to fit the needs of the patient. Sometimes youth care workers work with residential care facilities that have patients (often teenagers) that have been on supervision; the last step for most youth before being sentenced to a Juvenile Detention Center. There is no step-by-step way to approach the situation, one needs to be flexible to try different methods based on their client.
By state law, guardianship is a relationship between the guardian and court that gives one person or entity the duty and power to make personal and/or property decisions. Guardianships are designed to protect the interest of incapacitated adults and elders. Pam Wright, licensed attorney in Tennessee and elder law specialists said, " I always tell people to think about it earlier if possible because if you can make some of these decisions and think about this while you are able to make your own decisions, you can decide who can handle your business ahead of time."
