Famous Lawyers
“Go to school and become a successful lawyer” was the only thing I heard growing up. When you think of the elite jobs in the world lawyers is right up there. If you have the dedication and drive you could one day be a famous a lawyer. You never know one day you could be as famous as Johnnie Cochron or Leslie Abramson. Both are famously known for being great criminal defense lawyers. They are considered the best at what they do. Johnnie Cochron is most known for his defense in the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Ms. Abramson is most known for being the defense attorney for the Menendez brothers when they were on trial for the murder of their parents.
According to Cornell University of Law, Criminal law involves prosecution by the government of a defendant for an act that has been classified as a crime. Civil cases, involve individuals and organizations seeking to resolve legal disputes. In criminal cases, the state, with attorney general of the state, bring forward the suit, compared in a civil case the victim brings the suit forward.
Leslie Abramson was born on October 6th, 1943 in Flushing, Queens. Living the life like a New Yorker, she attended and graduated from Queens College. In 1969, she received her Juris Doctor from the UCLA Law School. Instead of coming back to New York, she was admitted to the California bar in 1970. She would begin her extraordinary career in the Los Angeles Public Defenders office. She quickly gained reputation of being a fierce advocate for her clients. ... "P. Diddy" Combs was indicted on stolen weapons charges as well as bribery. Combs hired Cochran. Cochran successfully fought for Combs' freedom, with Combs winning an acquittal. In 2002, Johnnie Cochran retired from criminal cases. He stated it was too tiring for his well-being.
These two lawyers are pioneers. They worked hard to overcome adversity and be successful lawyers. Leslie Abramson showed that women can overcome the stigma of only being housewives. If you put your mind to it you can surpass the borders that were set up by society. Johnnie Cochran is a role model for the black youth. The American dream is achievable if you are dedicated and stay on the right track. Black, white, man or woman the world is your oyster. You just have to work hard and one day you could be successful and Leslie Abramson and Johnnie Cochran.
