For my research paper I chose to write about how adoption can effect a child’s development: physical development, cognitive development and social/emotional development. For the sake of this paper I think it will be helpful to define adoption; adoption is defined as to take and rear (the child of other parents) as one 's own child, specifically by a formal legal act (Dictionary, 2016).Before I begin according to an Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System article in 2015 53,549 children were adopted using a welfare involvement. I am adopted and while I think I had some disadvantages I believe there were definitely advantages to me being adopted. I will also give specific examples on how my adoption can affect a child’s physical, cognitive and social/emotional development.

Life is like a river, there twist and turns and you never know what's next. My life took a turn for the best, even when I thought it wouldn't. Adopting is a process of moving homes and living with another family. There's so many things you have to do when you go though adoption. When I was 4 my "real" mom put me up for adoption to a friend of my "real" aunt. I remember a lady come by my aunts house when I was over to pick up my cousin. I had wanted to go with her so bad and have fun like my cousin, but in the long run, it helped me.
I was adopted from Seoul, South Korea when I was five and a half months old. When I finally understood what adoption meant, I thought that it was the most significant day in my life for many years, but I was wrong.
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
In conclusion I have had a difficult life and have had to adapt to new people and enviroments multiple times. Although this was at times difficult I still turned out ok and love my new family. All in all the lead up to my adoption, my adoption and after the fact wasn’t ll that

As of right now, I will be the first to attend college since before my grandparents. To have this opportunity and chance would really mean a lot to not only myself, but my family. Due to financial needs, this scholarship will give myself the head start I need when it comes to paying for tuition. Consequently, neither one of my parents can afford to put me through college, therefore I will need to work my way through school to pay for tuition.
Between the stressful schedules and pricey cost to attend to the difference between getting a job and not getting it was a high school diploma or a college degree. I have made a great selfless decision in choosing adoption in order to give my son a happier, worry-free, more fulfilled life. There have also been selfish decisions. I have made some bad choices and experienced first hand how those choices affected my future for a brief time. When my son was about eight months old, I chose to live in a house where everyone drank and took pills. I was unreachable to most of my friends and family and ended up missing milestones and three months of my son’s life.
